The writing and puzzles really hurt the experience. Love the look of it, but hot dang the dialog and puzzles just do not work for me.
I really wanted to like this game after playing the first 15 minutes, it kicks off with a great story, interesting fantasy world and very unique characters (except for the very Cedric like owl sidekick character). Act 1 was good, about 10 screens with enough lore and puzzles to keep it interesting. Act 2 is when the game gets from good indie, to a complete disaster. There's just too many characters, screens and items. The dialogues are probably one of the worst parts of the game for various reasons. There's just no way of knowing which options were already said, you can loop infinitely by them, and they are very long. Not particularly funny either, most of the dialogue is a combination of lore, important information or just random filler. The dialogue interface will only show a couple of options to say, but some dialog trees may contain tons of options and scrolling through them every time gets boring very fast. The other issue are the minigames, there are basically two: a Simon says ripoff, and a rolling wheels where you have to lock a specific number. They are completely uninspired and you have to do them tons of times in order to progress with the game. You can skip them, but you need to do them for some achievements. The music is very good in general, except for one specific goofy comic gag music that plays everytime there's a comic cutscene which completely breaks immersion. Unfortunately, music will also bore after a while since it's reused in a lot of screens. Graphics and art is fine, there's almost no animation, you can't even walk with the main character. You just teleport from screen to screen, but considering the amount of back and forth you need to do (specially in act 2) this is a pro. Also, without spoiling, act 3 is very short and tries to setup a bigger plot that never happens. There was supposed to be a sequel to address all of this, but it never was released and the developer has been silent for years now. If you keep on playing for the plot, that will also result in an anticlimax. I generally like most adventure games, but this one is hard to recommend. Consider buy only with a huge discount and if you already played other more refined adventures.
I liked the game. As it has been written in the other ratings the game has sometimes confusing sequences of how you need to solve the quests before progressing and the dialogues can become lengthy and boring. -> To the developers: you should include the possibility to Esc dialogues, maybe even to the point where the player's decision becomes relevant again. However, the game has a certain charme to it, which is composed of the special setting and the main character. I also liked the story. Generally you feel that the developers actually put their heart into the game. I hope there will be a follow up.
nice
Well... I bought it thinking it will be traditional 3rd person point & click. But actually it's more like 1st person, because you can't even move the protagonist yourself. Extremely poor design decision and ruins the mood of the game. Font is also badly rendered and quite difficult to read. Don't waste your money to this.
I haven't played a game that scratched all my point'n'click & puzzle needs so well in a long time. The team behind this game definitely put a lot of effort into everything: story, dialogue, graphics, secrets and gameplay. I personally was not the biggest fan of this soundtrack, but I can see that others could easily enjoy it a lot. I also enjoyed the small minigames, luckily there is a skip function for those who are annoyed of this type of thing. TL;DR If you are looking for a good point'n'click puzzle game to challenge your wits -> GET THIS GAME!
