After immersing myself in the sinister and surreal world of "A Night on the Farm," it's clear that this is more than just a walk through the cornfields. Positives: Atmospheric Horror: Excellently crafted ambiance that thrives on implied horror rather than jump scares, drawing players into its eerie world. Rich Lore and Storytelling: The game's narrative is deep and engaging, enhanced by cryptic notes and audio logs that slowly unravel the farm's mysteries. (Which you can listen to as you explore thankfully) Multiple Endings: Choices and a set of questions at the game's climax influence the story's outcome, offering players different conclusions and encouraging multiple playthroughs to uncover all possibilities. Negatives: Lack of Save Options: With only one auto-save slot and no manual save function, players may need to restart the game entirely to explore different paths or endings. Restricted Exploration at Times: Some parts I had issues when trying to navigate or uncover the next step in the game's progression as I skipped 2 steps ahead but without the item that I needed from another path. Minor Tech Glitches: None of which caused the game to crash but definitely took me out of the immersion. "A Night on the Farm" melds atmospheric horror with a retro-inspired aesthetic to create a spine-tingling adventure rooted in deep lore and unexpected plot twists. It's a journey through a carefully crafted nightmare that rewards curiosity and bravery with a story that sticks with you long after you've turned off the game. I give it a solid 7 out of 10 Mothmen.
I had a lot of fun with this game. There are at least 5 endings that I know of (I got endings A, C, and E so there has to be at least B and D left to find and possibly more). Considering the game is only 5 bucks, I think it's a great price for a decent game. Frankly it's one of my favorite games of 2024 that I've played so far. I like that there is a lot of exploration and the story was unique and interesting. If you like indie horror games with a PSX style, I definitely think you're gonna enjoy this one. I put a video on Youtube but I really recommend playing it for yourselves: https://youtu.be/NLmGvqowbIM
These are the strangest looking trees I've ever seen. All kidding aside, this is quite an enjoyable, thought-provoking game. All clues you need to proceed are contained within the notes, cassette tapes, and computer files. Only complaint would be having to play through the game in its entirety to reach each of the 3 endings. Although, if an item was missed (achievements), this provides an opportunity to search more thoroughly. X-Files fans, this game is for you.
I love the atmosphere of this game and the environmental audio is quite superb. I really enjoyed the story elements. The audio recordings remind me of the logs from games like 'System Shock', which I am also currently playing the remaster of which has a similar spooky exploration vibe. I appreciate the lack of backtracking which can be a big chore in these kinds of games. It's a fun X-files-esque romp!
This is exactly my kind of game. Eerie, surreal, and doesn't hold my hand at all. It's a delightful, short, interactive horror story that dumps you in and lets you find your way through. It appears there are multiple endings and I plan to play through a few more times to figure out what each one is like. Great work!
A solid mystery type indie game with an interesting story & great PS1 style graphics. If you´re a horror fan don´t expect to get scared but instead to be immersed in the eerie atmosphere which can be great for those who enjoy horror but dislike jumpscares. The game itself felt nice to play with 0 bugs, 0 lags & almost 0 loading time. You can finish the game quite quickly which is a breath of fresh air these days altho I can see someone getting stuck on trying to find some things. The only negative is (in my opinion) the mouse control which can feel a bit iffy at first.. Overal it´s a nice game worth & fitting the 5bucks price :)
A pretty good horror game with more emphasis on the atmospheric side than actual jumpscares. So the horror is more on the lighter side of things. The PS1 style graphics are really nice, it helps to built that eerie atmosphere. It’s not too short or not too long so it does not overstay it’s welcome but has some content for those who like to spend a little more time with it. Overall, the game is pretty decent and it for sure is a buy if you want a short exprience with some eerie atmosphere. Edit: Thank you dev for adding the FOV slider, it is a night and day difference
Fantastic game here. A couple moments where I was not entirely sure where to go next, but once I checked the journal pages/audio recordings, I was able to figure out where to go next. Had me thinking one way during the beginning half of the game and then suddenly everything changed! (Trying my best not to spoil) The overall atmosphere was really good but would drop off when I couldn't figure out where to go next for a few minutes. Once I found the progression point, though, the anxious feeling returned quickly. Only got one ending but may go back to get the others!
I don`t usually play horror games but i must say that this game was awesome. Personaly I liked the PS1 graphics. It`s not too short neither too long. The atmosphere felt scary i was still preparing that something will jump at me but no and that made more scared xdd. One thing that was kinda bad was the mouse control. It was... weird. It wasn`t so clear. I don`t know how to describe it. But the rest of the game was pretty decent.
