i really enjoyed playing this game: the characters, the artstyle and soundtrack are magical. despite being so cute, it was quite challenging sometimes
(i hated the mushroom guy)
as i didn’t expect such a gameplay from the indie game about a gnome. i also wish there was more to the story and interactions with animals tho. 4/5
Pros - Fantastic art-style made out of (recycled) paper. - Charming characters and dialog. - Very challenging (at least to me) but certaintly engaging platforming-bullet-hell style gameplay. Essentially there is just one mechanic; when you are wearing a hat you are invincible but each contact with a projectile will knock your hat off and you also need to throw your hat to inflict damage leaving you vunerable. It sounds basic but the game mixes it up quite well and its very short anyway so doesn't get repetive. Also between the game stages you can explore your home and talk to animals and there is small mini-stories revealed by doing so. - There are difficultly options such as increasing the number of lives which was much appreciated. - A poignant underlying story. Cons - Very short but argubly the price reflects the scope and I can imagine the development effort was signficant. Overall highly recomended.
A pleasant, brief, lovely game. Hyper-challenging if you play traditionally, but even with the helpful "invincible" mode, it still take some participation and effort to complete. Highly recommend for the alluring fabric art style.
amazing art, lets get that out of the way seem like this game has a loop of hanging out at your home, talking to woodland friends, then going out to fight a boss battle in a little 2d platformer. Every level so far (I've seen 3 levels) bring a new and unique challenge. very charming, though I personally ended up having to rage quit. I might come back in a bit and adjust the difficulty settings Downsides? controls feel very floaty and not at all tight, causing me to sometimes drift off of platforms instead of standing on the edge of it. Also hit boxes feel very strange. Often my hat will miss something in the most fustrating ways (or ping off a pixel of an obstacle) while things hitting my hitbox if it just skims the pixel. There are some bugs and I will probably have to check in the menu if there is a bug report menu. Main problem is Me and Deerly sometimes just vanishing mid running through the beaver dam, so far for 15 seconds at most. The hat still appears but I have to dodge without seeing my platform or sprite, which ends up being really annoying when it kills me.
If you van play this without invincibility on, you're amazing.
I bought this game to attempt to set the record for speed running it. Very solid platformer with interesting mechanics, fairly priced, with a very appealing art style and great soundtrack. My first run took 1hr 24mins to beat all the bosses. That being said, the four boss fights make up all of the gameplay-oriented mechanics (i.e. non story / fluff) and are beatable in about 10 minutes if done flawlessly. My second run took about 24 minutes and 10 of that was on the final boss.
Great little kinda Cuphead-style game. Very short, just four stages, but they're good, the art is fantastic, and the narrative is cute and wholesome.
This is a most pleasant and diverting pastime, of no great length or difficulty. It is apt for the elegant and courteous soul, for it requires craft and finesse, especially in the mode of the anvil. The mode of adjusting the movements is agreeable and the opponents are all of diverse and curious appearance. The story is delightful and gentle, and the mode of displaying it is magnificent and lovely. I acclaim it greatly to all who desire a dignified and honourable pastime.
Once upon a time there was a gnome who used his hat as a Sonic ring. The end. In all seriousness, this 2D boss rush game may present itself as an adventure fable book following a gnome destined to help a crew of animals in need by clashing into various treacherous creatures. However, such fighting involves throwing its hat which is also the thing that makes you invincible in quite the extraordinary way (see what I did there). Be careful if you lose it then as you have a limited number of hearts while vulnerable and each fight can be quite long, more so if you’re not used to these kinds of games and the first boss kicks your ass.. Fortunately, once you’re able to get past it there isn’t as big of a difficulty spike until the end which can be reached in around 30-60 minutes depending on your skill. If that’s not enough, additional difficulty modes and achievements can extend the runtime by making you go out of your way for some secret (and sometimes giggling) lines of dialogue. Meanwhile the old folk aesthetics and violin tracks are quite welcomed to make the journey feel more in tune with the story. Either way, I’d have liked if the tutorial stage gave you more ways to master the controls than hitting yourself against the aforementioned first boss’s wall until succeeding or dropping it entirely. The game is definitely beatable though not very approachable. Oh and P.S., in case you get to the other side please tell me where that old radish is, you know the one.
Muy corto, sólo hay 4 peleas, y 2 de ellas no son contra bosses, que es lo que pegaba, sino simplemente plataformeo.
