A Hand With Many Fingers

You may need to know the historical events it's based to really enjoy this game. Do NOT use pencil and paper - I did that and it is a distraction and I didn't need to connect any pins or use the map. Just put the documents on the board or map and connect the names. Look up the names in the indexes using the locations and years.

It's an hour long game for 4€, for the kind of experience it aims for I think that's fair. I probably missed at least one aspect of the investigation, but if you're familiar with the political era it portrays you'll know what to look for. Overall it sits just in the middle of being disappointingly short game or a strong proof of concept, so it doesn't deserve a thumbs down but there is clearly market for more.

I stumbled through the game, not really understanding what was happening but understanding how to find boxes. Then I got a key, and then i opened a box, and there was a car crashed into my office, and then the game ended. I then had to look at the discussions to see an actual explanation of what I did and what it meant. I never really engaged with the corkboard mechanic, as you never have to. All you have to do is empty the box so you're allowed to free up the desk and place another box on top. I really don't like discussions on what is or isn't a game, as many things people think games are or aren't are subjective. However, personally, I don't feel as if this was a game. It didn't feel like the things I was doing mattered in any meaningful way, or that I was capable of really absorbing or appreciating the story.

Its very short (I played through in approx 1 hr) but I am an archivist in my dayjob, so it was wonderful to see this mechanic done so well and with such suspense and intruige. I only wish it could have another chapter, or some more meat to it, but it's very very entertaining and satisfying to gather the documents and learn the truth.

A more mixed but positive review. The idea is really good, with the whole card catalog system looking for the next important detail information gathering mechanic is done really well. The way the conspiracy is also uncovered the more you discover felt great. Plus the unnerving paranoia they add in the atmosphere was also exciting. I do think the way it ends once you have a specific note kind of ends the game in an anticlimactic way. For me it would've been more engaging if the player had a choice when they felt satisfied with how much information they got. I still enjoyed the hour I spent playing the game however.

Экскурс в реальные исторические события через инсценировку и приглашение притвориться работником архива, раскручивающего клубок преступления, махинации и заговора, одинаково возмутительного и обыденного в мире политики, власти и жадности. Немножко эрудиции о 70х, завёрнутой в тематическое переживание.

This is a great investigation game hat does very little to hold players' hands, which is exactly how I like it. I found the cork board very fun to set up and organize, it gives a sense of ownership to the work, and the mystery was interesting. Where this game really shines, though, is its atmosphere. I was constantly feeling creeped out and uneasy, like I was being watched while uncovering something I'm not meant to see. For how simple the game is mechanically and aesthetically, I think that's really impressive. If you like investigation games and don't mind having to think for yourself to draw conclusions, this is a must play.

Summary: Buy only at a big discount, as even the game's small starting price doesn't justify the incredibly short length and an abhorrent lack of a note-taking system. Pros: The game starts off beautifully and promises a true investigative experience, with a visible effort placed in constructing the real-life case used as its premise. Cons: However, the potential to be a full, proper game is heart-breaking from the very start as you find out the game wants you to use a note-taking alternative outside of the game, as in: either have a pen and paper ready or use another monitor. This incomprehensible blatant laziness destroys the immersion and adds weight to the tediousness of the archive fetching system. The endgame came incredibly abruptly and left a bitter feeling of faded hopes of some sort of grand revelation. I truly hope the success pushes the developer to create a complete product next time, as this is one of the rare games to actually hit the nail on the head with proper detective work in a sea of creations with a far greater budget, yet that failed to hit the mark this close.
