Lan Party Adventures is a love letter to what it was to be a nerdy kid in the late 90s and early 2000s. The amount of dedication in every detail and reference in each level is marvelous. The gameplay reminds on the barriers that we had to overcome to get a taste of new technology with friends back then. The story graphics and music bring a joyful nostalgia. I might be bias in multiple ways but have really enjoyed this experience. Would recommend.
Good simulator, with an interesting story. I could've ended the game in around 5 hours, but was streaming it to friends and was trying very hard to do the best cable management. I really feel like it took me back to the early 2000's, not only because of the setting of the game, but also the game itself reminded me of games from that period. Also it is easy to 100%.
I mean... I kinda hoped for a bit more. Just finished that, and paid (sadly) full price for it. 12 pounds for 4h of gameplay. And I did took my time with getting all collectables in the first playthrough. If it would be like 5 quid, sure. Not worth it tbh.
One of those rare games where you wish it was longer. Really enjoyed the nostalgia for the 90s and early 00s. Good puzzles, nothing too hard. Definitely would recommend.
LAN Party Adventures is very much a puzzle game first; do not go into it expecting anything like "PC Building Simulator" - you will be disappointed! The game takes you from your teenage bedroom to a variety of locations, where you set up computers for LAN parties, and solve puzzles to figure out where your friend Pedro has gone. There is a lot of humour in the posters, objects, and writing; nostalgia does get to do a lot of heavy lifting here, and you will recognise a lot of brands and games being parodied. The initially lighthearted story has a lot of dark undertones, which fall somewhat flat in comparison to the colourful presentation and humour of the game itself; also the (English) story suffers from a small number of language mistakes here and there. The mouse & keyboard controls are clunky and can't be inverted or remapped. The controls as you are setting up the LAN parties and solving puzzles are janky. The mini-games feel like they should get more complex, but never do. The demo has some QoL features that are not in the main game. There are a small number of bugs and logic issues. Despite capturing the nostalgia of small LAN parties, a number of things are a lot more tedious than things actually were in the '90s - but ultimately that is not the point. I enjoyed my short time with it, but in many parts LAN Party Adventures feels like a proof of concept for a larger and more intricate game. I hope the devs take the time to fix the issues that exist with this game, but also take this as a jumping-off point for a larger, more detailed adventure!
A carefully-composed, well-written story, set in the times before Steam and Massive Multiplayer Online existed, full of clever details and with intrigue. Lan Party Adventures is a love letter. A nostalgic snap shot of my childhood, evoking smiles when discovering all kinds of details. This a game that can be shown to younger generations as a time-capsule of sorts, making its play-along pleasant. Its gameplay is fluid and simple to understand, the graphic quality is excellent and efficient and the music is delightful and atmospheric. Of note and with my sincere thanks is the inclusion of an FOV slider, which allows us with motion sickness to play better.
nice small game, took 5 hours, relaxing
