About
The Stairway 7 is an endless loop anomaly hunter game where you are stuck in a endless loop of stairways with a cat and you have to observe your surroundings carefully to reach the exit. Anomalies are watching, and ready to hunt you down. Don't take them with you up the stairways to the exit otherwise they will hurt you, and eventually kill you.
The rules are simple: Don't overlook any anomalies. If you find anomalies, go down the stairways to banish and remove them. If you don't find anomalies, continue up the stairways. However, how carefully can you scan and memorize the environment and your surroundings? This game will make you find out. Do you have what it takes?
Experience the spine-chilling terror of The Stairway 7, a gripping horror game that will challenge your sanity as you navigate an ever-changing stairwell haunted by anomalies and malevolent forces. In The Stairway 7, every flicker of a light, every shadowy figure, and every inexplicable occurrence could end your journey. Trust your instincts: if you detect an anomaly, go back down the stairways to remove them - and if not then continue up the stairways for your freedom. It would be erroneous of me to say that I “can’t quite put my finger on” what makes The Stairway 7 feel subpar. More accurately, perhaps, I feel like I don’t have enough fingers to distribute between its many disappointments? While the atmosphere is suitably dingy and gross, and the mechanics of “Spot the Difference” aren’t necessarily bad; that’s where my praise has to end. For a start; the floors are in sequence, every single time. No randomness. It’s not the same floor repeated but “be on the lookout for anomalies”, it’s 70 distinct floors, in order. This makes the “Spot the Difference” aspect feel a little pointless, you can simply record which floors have anomalies and speedrun to your heart’s content. Thematically the anomalies are extremely random; mostly random horror game tropes with a few body-horror/gross moments thrown in. Coupled with the fact that the story has absolutely no connection to the theme of any of the floors; this makes the whole experience feel disconnected. Maybe the main character is in purgatory? Then make it feel purgatorial. That being said; did I encounter any bugs? No. Did I hate my time with The Stairway 7? No? Should I have spent my playtime with a better game? Probably yes. (My no rating is..purely based on cost vs content)
A very rough "anomaly walker" game that feels unfinished. You go up 70 flights of stairs, looking for anomalies on each floor. If you miss one, there's a jumpscare that takes 40% of your hit points. Every once in a while you find a health potion that restores 40% of your hit points. If you run out of hit points, you restart 5 (?) floors below where you died, so at least you don't have to restart at the beginning. A big problem with this game is that every anomaly is always on the same floor; on floor 15 a chair always slides toward you. On floor 30 there's always a pentagram on the ceiling. This makes progression trivial, as even if you miss an anomaly you'll get the jumpscare, so you can just write down that there's an anomaly on that floor without having any idea what it is, and mark that floor bad the next time you get to it. So you can play it entirely by trial-and-error, and there’s no replay value. (There's an "Endless Mode", which might actually shuffle the anomalies, but after playing through the normal mode I had no interest in trying it.) The game also uses some sort of generic first-person-shooter Unity plugin; in the controls config screen, there are buttons for "shoot" and "reload", which you never use. (This actually drove me away from the game the first time I tried to play it, because I didn't want to play an anomaly walker where you had to shoot things). You have 8 inventory slots, but you only get health potions, and there's no reason to NOT use a health potion if you have less than 100% health. After the end of the game, it returned me to the title screen, but the controls no longer worked so I had to force quit the game. There are some cute anomalies, but there's just not enough game, and it's really rough.
This is a very difficult 'meh' for me. I want to like it more, but the jump scares are monotonous and annoying, more than scary, and the anomalies happen in a linear order, on fixed floors. It's *GOOD*, but not *that* good.
Fun little anomaly game. Here, you're trying to reach a certain floor and all you do is go up or down the stairs. On each floor there might be an anomaly. Walk back if there is, continue on if there isn't. Pretty standard concept. But instead of resetting entirely when you make a mistake, something else happens... and yes, you can die. I liked the setting. It's dark and moody. There's a few good jump scares. Only wish the achievements didn't pop until after you've cleared certain floors instead of right at the start. You get them for a few very obvious encounters though, so they're not that big of a spoiler. Short and sweet.
Pretty good. 70 floors does drag on for a bit of time, especially in the survival mode, and the anomalies are not random, meaning in both normal gameplay and survival it will play out in the exact same choreographed order, meaning it's only really fun on the first playthrough.
Fun little anomaly search game. I just wish the survival mode offered randomized anomalies not just a copy of the original campaign
The difference spotting was decent, but I felt like the actual stairwell area was a little small to actually be enjoyable. Also, the part with the murder-suicide and domestic violence I really could have done without.
ITS FOR REAL ONE OF THE WORST GAMES I PLAYED next time i rather burn my money than giving it the producer of this game
OK at first glance this game is a Marathon of Stairway hell. 70 floors.... My first thought was oh crap, I can see it now, floor 67 and OOPS I made a mistake and its back to floor one and I cry like a little baby. But no, the Developer in is greatest of wisom and a love for the people playing his game, you only get knocked back a few floors and then you are back on your way. I can't talk much about details as it would give the game away and it needs to be experienced. All I will say is that it goes Hard and you are like "WHOA" There is a Orange cat name Ginger that I am pretty sure I patted EVERY floor sooooo instant bonus marks from this guy. Overall, is the game AMAZING!? Not really. Is it fun? I enjoyed myself. I kept getting hung up on something invisible when going onto a new floor which I found VERY annoying. Would I recomend this game to a friend. Sure would. It is not expensive and if you are a fan of Anomaly finders that don't have you scrolling from screen to screen, then it is worth the try. Concidering it was made by one person... Colour me Impressed.....
