So you think you're great at multitasking, huh? A Duel Hand Disaster is here to put your hands to the test. Using two thumbsticks on a controller, you're tasked with controlling a ship on the left screen (dubbed "HR-D") that can shoot up enemies for points and guiding a ship on the right screen (dubbed "DF-R") that goes around collecting material to boost your score and parts to unlock more abilities for itself. HR-D is invincible but DF-R isn't. The numerous fireballs roaming around are tricky enough but if you neglect to kill enemies on the left side and let them get past you, they'll spawn in on the right side and cause more havoc for DF-R. The main goal of the game is to "extract," which is done by collecting 12 parts and then holding down two buttons simultaneously for a certain amount of time. Dying before or during extraction will bring your score down to zero and that's it, run's over. You also don't have to extract right away if you're looking to land a good spot on the leaderboard, it's your call. Just remember, your score is meaningless unless you exist. I've had a lot of fun playing ADHD and the game definitely earns the right to be abbreviated as that. Despite sounding all spooky earlier, the game's pretty inviting no matter what skill level you're at with its plethora of optional mechanics to take advantage of and general attitude to let you play at your own pace...mostly. Learning and executing stuff that nets a lot of points feels super satisfying and you'll always feel like pushing your luck to continue your run. There are three different levels (known as "tears") and each of them have their own kind of skill level, with tear 3 being the trickiest as it'll attempt to end your run via modifiers like reversed controls, modified vision, and sudden low HP. If you like score attack games or just want a bit of a challenge, go and give A Duel Hand Disaster: Trackher a shot. And ask questions/seek out info about the game's mechanics if you need to, you'll be glad you did. c: #arcadeIsNotDead
Unique game play style. Completely original. Chaotic, maddening, beautiful.
I enjoy the hell out of the music, and its a great game for "zone players", like tetris. the 3d visuals look good enough, but the colors all make it pretty clear what's what at a quick glance, minus maybe the bots on the right side. the search light doesnt pop too well. this game is really good, but its terrible at informing you about the basics, and maybe its just me, but the info in black on a dark lit neon game scheme makes it incredibly difficult to track any information while the game is playing. i get that this is an arcade throwback, but some things (like obscure controls and information) should stay back there. i feel like the information about materials, upgrade progress, and missile ammo should be on the center line between the screens since you're constantly switching focus between the screens anyway, and maybe add a little more color coordination between the sides correlating inforamtion. saw someone described it "easy to learn, hard to master" and i feel like thats just false. took me half an hour of attempts and google searches to figure out how to stop the "every four minutes" fire wall thing. (tap right trigger 3 times quickly while in the cube in the middle, btw.) while already frustrating, this was just exacerbated by the video that plays trying to tell you how to stop the wall without actually telling you how to stop the damn wall. "fire your bfp in the blah-blah core..." with no direction how to actually fire one, let alone find one. the game play itself is really awesome, but the lack of direct information is going to kill its chances at finding any new crowd, other than just 30+ year-olds (like myself). you could probably just make a 3 or 4 page informational like old game manuals where they point at the thing on the screen and tell you what the info means, and a generic controller image pointing at the buttons and what they do, then the third page be a break down of objects in the game and what they generally do.
An excellent game where you have to balance between a split screen game with different mechanics and push/pull of priorities. Also risk/reward cycle is amplified as yoru score doesn't count if you die.
Legit only playing this game because I'm being forced to - after which you will not be able to pay me to touch this horrible game ever again
I can't explain why I love this game. No game does what this does. Some scratch the surface, but this game really digs in to its inspirations and becomes something beyond words. I have some issues with it. I will never say this game is perfect.... but I can't help myself from booting it up and playing a few games on a daily basis. It needs a proper tutorial and it needs sound options. Beyond that, some of the inputs are clunky, with open buttons not having abilities and other buttons have different effects based on how often you press them. I don't know why DOWN of the Left Stick is an empty input, and I have to press DOWN on the DPAD to speed up UPGRADE fall speed, for example. But even with these mistakes, the game is already worth 5 bucks. Any advancement from here just increases it's value.
A fantastic game for masochists who love pushing themselves to do better each time. Very, Very stressfull, but in a good satisfying way, that makes you let go of a breath you didn't know you were holding.
Very Fun and Entertaining game. Lots of potential for twitch interaction if the dev can add it. But either way great game and addicting. Highly recommend it to challenge your awareness and specially for that price!
I found this game while I was exploring around the indie booths at PAX East, and let me tell you I was INSTANTLY hooked. The constantly battle between shifting your focus between the two screens and figuring out a way to multitask to optimize your health is INSANE. If you want a good score, you can't play safe. Not to mention the fact that your nerves just grow more and more the higher your score gets, because you're that much closer to losing everything. I've never been so quickly invested in a game before (not to mention the dev is a pretty baller dude) and I think it's a game everyone needs to own.
This game is addicting, difficult, and WAY too fun to miss out on. I'm raging my head off but MAN is this game fun!
