There's inspiration and homage, and then there's copying. This straight up copies large chunks of VS, from it's UI, to it's treasure opening animation, and has literally copied the exact "money bag" sprite from that game. The enemy sprites look good but based on the rest of the game I'm not sure if they're original or not. Game is horribly unbalanced and incredibly dull. Art is the only thing going for it. Suggest you avoid.
I loves me some VS clones but this one is...not good. Bad, even. Totally borked difficulty curve, movement feels awful, bland as hell art. Not worth it
It's just a sloppy copy of Vampire Survivors. If you want a similar game but FREE, then just try out HoloCure - Save the Fans. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2420510/HoloCure__Save_the_Fans/ Or if you have it in your library, check out Brotato, Boneraiser Minions, Hall of torment instead of SuperTotalCarnage!... And you could find more Vampire Survivors clones out there...
SuperTotalCarnage!, developed and published by IndieGala, is a chaotic action roguelite that embraces excess in nearly every aspect of its design. Combining the increasingly popular survivor-style gameplay formula with a dark fantasy setting, destructive weaponry, and endless waves of monsters, the game focuses on delivering pure action with minimal distractions. It is a title built around the simple but addictive concept of surviving overwhelming odds while transforming a vulnerable character into an unstoppable force of destruction. While it does not radically redefine the genre, it succeeds in providing a fast-paced and entertaining experience for players who enjoy constant progression and large-scale battles. The game's premise is intentionally straightforward. Players are thrown into hostile environments filled with relentless enemies and are tasked with surviving for as long as possible. Storytelling takes a backseat to gameplay, allowing the action to begin almost immediately. This design choice works well because SuperTotalCarnage! clearly understands its audience. Rather than slowing the experience down with lengthy narrative sequences, it focuses on delivering immediate excitement and maintaining momentum throughout each run. Like many modern survivor-style roguelites, the game simplifies combat by automating attacks. Instead of manually aiming and firing weapons, players concentrate entirely on movement, positioning, and strategic decision-making. The challenge comes from navigating increasingly crowded battlefields, avoiding enemy attacks, collecting experience points, and choosing upgrades that strengthen a particular build. This accessible approach allows newcomers to enjoy the game quickly while still offering enough depth to keep experienced players engaged. The weapon variety is one of the game's strongest features. Throughout a run, players gain access to an impressive collection of offensive tools that include firearms, explosives, blades, and magical attacks. Shotguns tear through groups of enemies at close range, grenades create devastating explosions, and spinning weapons carve paths through dense enemy formations. Each weapon feels distinct and contributes to a different style of play. Experimenting with various combinations becomes one of the most satisfying parts of the experience, especially as upgrades begin to dramatically alter how individual weapons behave. Character progression is equally important. Every run provides opportunities to unlock new abilities, improve existing equipment, and strengthen future attempts. The roguelite structure ensures that progress is rarely wasted, even after failure. Resources collected during unsuccessful runs contribute to long-term upgrades, creating a rewarding sense of advancement that encourages players to keep returning. This constant progression helps maintain engagement and creates the addictive cycle that defines many successful roguelites. Another standout feature is the game's emphasis on destruction. Environments are not simply decorative backgrounds but actively contribute to the chaos unfolding on screen. Players can demolish portions of the surroundings while battling enormous enemy hordes, creating a greater sense of impact and spectacle. This environmental destruction complements the game's title perfectly, reinforcing the feeling that everything around the player is being consumed by carnage. The enemy design supports this chaotic atmosphere effectively. Waves of monsters appear in ever-increasing numbers, gradually transforming relatively manageable encounters into frantic survival situations. The constant escalation ensures that players remain under pressure while also allowing them to appreciate the growing strength of their character. Few experiences are as satisfying as watching a carefully constructed build eliminate hundreds of enemies in rapid succession while the battlefield becomes increasingly crowded. Boss encounters provide some of the game's most memorable moments. Massive enemies emerge periodically to challenge players with unique attack patterns and significantly greater durability than standard opponents. These battles require adaptation and careful movement, forcing players to make full use of their upgrades and abilities. Successfully defeating a boss creates a strong sense of accomplishment and provides welcome variety within the overall survival structure. Visually, SuperTotalCarnage! embraces a dark and violent aesthetic. Blood effects, explosions, and enemy remains quickly fill the screen as battles intensify. The graphical style may not be technically groundbreaking, but it effectively communicates the scale and intensity of the action. The visual feedback generated by weapons and abilities is particularly satisfying, making every successful attack feel impactful and rewarding. The pacing is another major strength. The game wastes very little time before throwing players into increasingly dangerous situations. Upgrades arrive frequently, enemy density rises steadily, and the action rarely slows down. This constant sense of momentum keeps players engaged and helps ensure that even shorter sessions feel productive and exciting. However, the game is not without shortcomings. Its strongest ideas are heavily inspired by other survivor-style roguelites, meaning many mechanics will feel familiar to genre veterans. While the destructible environments and brutal presentation add personality, the overall structure closely follows conventions established by more prominent titles. Players looking for major innovations may find the experience somewhat predictable. Content variety can also feel limited compared to some of the genre's larger competitors. Although the available weapons, characters, and upgrades provide plenty of replayability, there are moments when players may wish for additional stages, enemy types, or progression systems. The foundation is solid, but there is a sense that the game could have expanded even further given its strong core mechanics. Despite these limitations, SuperTotalCarnage! delivers exactly what it promises. It offers intense battles, satisfying progression, powerful weapon combinations, and relentless waves of enemies within a highly accessible format. The game understands that fun comes from growth, destruction, and survival, and it consistently emphasizes those elements throughout every session. For fans of action roguelites, survivor-style gameplay, and games that reward experimentation with increasingly absurd builds, SuperTotalCarnage! provides a highly entertaining experience. Its combination of explosive combat, rewarding progression, giant bosses, and nonstop action creates a gameplay loop that remains engaging long after the first run. While it may not surpass the genre's biggest successes, it stands as a solid and enjoyable entry that understands exactly how to keep players chasing one more attempt. Rating: 6/10
Can I wholeheartedly recommend a game with limited content in a genre where dozens of other games offer dozens of hours of fun for a similarly low price? Probably not, but that's not to say that SuperTotalCarnage! isn't worth a shot for diehard fans of the bullet heaven genre. Satisfying weapons, tons of gore, fun boss battles and some level of stage destruction make this game stand out for its brutal chaos for sure - I mean, throwing grenades and massacring foes with rotating chainsaws has to be more satisfying than generic fantasy-themed orbs and auras. However, as of now, it's easy to beat the final boss with nearly any build and there's not a whole lot to unlock either. It's a good foundation however, and I hope it'll be greatly expanded upon in 2023 and beyond. Bullet Heaven Fandom review #3. not worth it. you unlock all the characters in 30 mins, and the game jumps from a cake walk to the point where each enemy has a million health so all you can do is run away in like 10 mins into that run. 3 of all the characters are good, the starter being better than all of them. just play it for a bit than refund it.
A total rip-off from Vampire Survivors, even the sound when getting hit is the same.
On s'ennuie sévère !
