Lobotomy Power Rangers Actual Peak (please blow up and make more games)
Great art and gameplay, simple but fun story, rather silly 10/10
This is the best game. space racism and glorbo
It's way better than i was expecting, the story is entretaining, the characters are funny and full of charm, the dialogue and interactions are a lot of fun, the pixel art is cute and the soundtrack is really good. The gameplay is closer to a puzzle game than an RPG, you have to beat most of the bosses in a very specific way with a little bit of wiggle room for freedom in the harder ones. Chapter 1 is like a Megaman Boss Rush Puzzle thing, a lot of trial and error but it's quick and you get fun dialogue while trying to find the correct order, Chapter 2 is lineal but a lot more interesting and fun since you can apply what you learned in chapter 1 in tougher remixed rematch fights and some new bosses. Overall a very fun, chill and cute game you can beat in a single sitting.
This game's pretty great, despite some minor flaws. Story's quite entertaining, got me laughing a few times, which is a big plus. Gameplay's simplistic at first, but it gradually ramps up at a mostly smooth pace. I say mostly smooth as the last few bosses gave me a lot more trouble than what had come before. I required a couple hints from a friend for the last one, that I'm not sure if I'd be able to figure out on my own. A little more in-game clarity for several things would go a long way. Graphics are very old-school, quite pixel-y, which I like. The background/story art is generally really good as well, meshing nicely with the elderly game theme. Sound's basic and retro-sounding, it gets the job done, although one little gripe I have with it is AoE attacks play the hit sound on top of itself, which can be unexpectedly loud at times if it hits everyone at once. Music's really nice, it isn't as retro as the graphics or the sound effects, but that's fine, I still like pretty much all the tracks. In conclusion: I had fun with this game, and I think it's worth the money. 8/10
Wish I was one of the bosses and got beat up by these Star Guardians, cause they are very cute
A simple and really fun RPG that acts kinda like a puzzle game when you try to figure out the best way to defeat each boss. I'd even call the arcade mode Pikmin-esque since there's a time management factor. It has all the best aspects of old school Final Fantasy without being unbearably tedious. It do get hard tho... Outside of that, the story merges with the gameplay in a really interesting way. Even if chapter 2 can be a lil long, it's worth it. Oh, did I mention the lesbians, the catgirls, and the lesbian catgirls? Yeah, this is a good game right here.
Tremendous bang for the buck! The limited palette pixel graphics look fantastic, but there's plenty more to the game than the graphical style the name implies. The story mode has the perfect amount of cheesy in it, and while it definitely leans strongly into comedy, it has a few heartfelt moments. The Arcade and other challenge modes are easy enough to get into -- it's not like some JRPG hidden bosses or challenge runs where you feel like you need a 90's-era GameFAQs just to figure out how to start, much less start crafting a plan for how to win. But you're not gonna steamroll it: it'll take a couple of tries to figure out the best way that works for you to clear the challenges that lie ahead. For a relatively simple turn-based RPG engine, some of the fights have very clever mechanics. It's not just a paper-work-scissors elemental weakness chart, you'll have to time your buffs, debuffs, and offense correctly and adjust for what the boss brings to the table. Definitely worth the $5 price tag; if you've got an itch for a short RPG-style game and want something that feels just a little different, you'll definitely scratch your itch with this game.
