This game is not a very relaxing experience, because you feel you are constantly being judged by your colleagues and superiors. Yes I get it you are a rising star in the agency who are being evaluated for promotion, but it is still very annoying, because [spoiler]one judgemental ♥♥♥♥♥♥ always wants to tell you what to do and your superior is kind of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ too[spoiler]. Also, I wish there were more explicitly sexual and violent scenes in this game, since you are role-playing as a Bond character after all. But overall, this game is the best pure-text one I've played in a very long time. So highly recommended.
it's pretty good
Characters were a little sparse/underdeveloped for my taste, like conversations could stand to be a little longer but always got cut short for the sake of pushing the plot instead of giving anyone room to breathe. I had a good time reading it and I'd recommend it if it was on sale, but I was acutely aware that I was playing a game and raising character's stats rather than just enjoying the story.

There are parts to this that I like. But it's just not enough. There's no depth to the story. I can't tell what's going to happen depending on which option I click, because the result doesn't match up well. And there's literally NO WAY to tell what any of these characters want from you. I really wanted to like this. But it was okay at best.
FANTASTIC! The possibilities seem endless and the characters are all so interesting and unique! Definitely in my top 5 of Choice Games! :D
Developed and published by Choice of Games, 180 Files: The Aegis Project is a choice-driven interactive novel that transforms classic spy fiction into an engaging narrative where every decision carries lasting consequences. Written by Karelia Hall, the game unfolds across roughly 184,000 words, placing players in the role of Agent 180, an elite intelligence operative assigned to investigate the suspicious death of a valuable informant. What begins as a standard mission quickly expands into a dangerous conspiracy centered on a powerful corporation whose hidden agenda threatens global security. Rather than relying on visuals or action-oriented gameplay, the experience is built entirely around storytelling, encouraging players to shape the investigation through dialogue, strategy, and carefully considered decisions. One of the game's strongest features is the remarkable freedom it grants players when defining their protagonist. Agent 180 is more than a fixed hero, as players determine their background, personality, strengths, and methods of handling missions. Whether approaching situations through diplomacy, intimidation, advanced technical knowledge, physical prowess, or calculated deception, the narrative adapts to reflect those choices. This flexibility makes each playthrough feel personal, as conversations, investigations, and mission outcomes often shift based on the skills and priorities selected. The branching structure rewards experimentation, ensuring that returning for another run can reveal entirely different scenes, alliances, and endings. The writing succeeds in capturing the tension expected from a modern espionage thriller. Every assignment balances undercover operations, corporate intrigue, and political secrets with moments of personal reflection that deepen the protagonist's character. The story explores themes such as loyalty, sacrifice, responsibility, and the blurred line between following orders and doing what is morally right. Instead of presenting obvious heroes and villains, it frequently places players in situations where every option comes with meaningful advantages and painful compromises. This moral complexity elevates the experience beyond a straightforward spy adventure and creates a narrative that remains engaging from beginning to end. The supporting cast is equally memorable, with allies, suspects, and rivals all possessing distinct motivations and personalities. Building trust becomes just as important as gathering intelligence, since every interaction has the potential to influence later events. The game also features multiple romance paths that naturally integrate into the larger narrative instead of feeling disconnected from the central mission. Relationships with journalists, scientists, executives, and even dangerous adversaries provide emotional depth while reinforcing the themes of trust, manipulation, and vulnerability. Alongside its relationship system, the game offers extensive options for gender identity and sexual orientation, allowing players to create a protagonist that genuinely reflects the character they wish to role-play. As expected from a Choice of Games release, gameplay revolves entirely around reading and making decisions rather than exploring environments or participating in traditional combat. While the absence of graphics, voice acting, and animated sequences may disappoint players seeking a more visual experience, the high-quality writing consistently compensates for those omissions. Suspense is created through carefully paced dialogue, intelligence gathering, tense negotiations, and unpredictable plot developments instead of cinematic spectacle. The pacing occasionally slows during sections focused on exposition, but these moments help establish the broader conspiracy and provide context for the major twists that follow. Replay value is another significant strength. Numerous branching paths, multiple endings, varied character builds, and alternative relationship outcomes encourage players to revisit the story with different approaches. Steam achievements further reward experimentation, making completionists eager to uncover hidden choices and narrative variations. The combination of player freedom and responsive storytelling ensures that repeated playthroughs rarely feel repetitive, as changing even a handful of decisions can significantly reshape the overall experience. 180 Files: The Aegis Project demonstrates how compelling interactive fiction can be when supported by confident writing and meaningful player agency. Its intricate conspiracy, memorable cast, flexible role-playing systems, and emphasis on difficult choices create a gripping espionage experience that rewards thoughtful decision-making over quick reflexes. Although its text-only format naturally appeals to a more specific audience, readers who appreciate choice-driven narratives and intelligent spy stories will find a rewarding adventure filled with suspense, emotional depth, and excellent replayability. Rating: 7/10
