100 Doors: Escape from Work

100 Doors: Escape from Work — это душещипательная история о Мии, чья жизнь превратилась в бесконечный цикл отчетов, планерок и тостыров с авокадо.

“100 Doors: Escape from Work” — это не просто головоломка, а акт цифрового неповиновения и терапевтический сеанс для каждого, кто знаком с словом «планерка». I played the first one (escape from school) that was free, and was excited for all the rest to go live, but this one would not save on my current room, so when I would do 25 rooms at a time, and I would come back it only saved up to room 3, each time. So that was a bit of a hassle to the point I stopped playing. I think the game is cute and I loved streaming the first one but until the save is fixed I cant and wont play this or others.. So hopefully soon!
I'm reviewing Steam games in alphabetical order, and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/7LWb-4BlxYY Prefer to read? This is one of Peaksels older point and click escape room style puzzle games. Unfortunately it's also the most broken. Not only did one puzzle appear to be unsolvable without hints, but after completion is skipped me to the end of the game, completing every level at the same time. So the level progression simply doesn't work. The art is also pretty forgettable, and considering that each room is meant to be based on the actual office of a real-world company, it's a shame that there is literally nothing to help the player figure out which companies were featured. Even if you're a fan of the genre, I'd steer clear of this one.
The good: Okayish The bad: inconsistent interaction paradigms, broken puzzles that have to be skipped because even the hints don't work, no ability to be anything but exclusive full screen, rooms require annoying panning, some puzzles require you to click exactly on a thing hidden-object style.
Let's call this an escape-room lite game. That said, I appreciate puzzle games. It is one thing to make a game, and quite another to require puzzle designers on the team. This is a easy filler game, where you can do 10's on rooms in a sessions - because most of them are not difficult. Which really leads to the main two points for this game. #1 pacing was very inconsistent. #2 visual cues where totally inconsistent. I was expecting a progressively more difficult structure as you got to higher rooms. But this is not the case, and some rooms feel like they are one puzzle deep. Whereas others where more involved like a traditional escape room. On the visual cues. Well, you do a lot of clicking just to find out what is interactable. We are here to solve puzzles, not to pixel hunt. Still - solid effort and an inexpensive game which yields enjoyment.
"100 Doors: Escape from Work" is a free mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a paid product, as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is a Hidden Object puzzle game, these are normally published as mobile apps so this one is no exception. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a cartoony office/workplace theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. While these kinds of games are popular amongst casual gamers, it's difficult to argue this is a great value proposition as a PC game, especially considering the price of this compared to the hundreds of free HOGs on the mobile app stores. This mobile app has been translated from some other language into English... badly. If this was done through Google Translate, Google Translate should feel ashamed of itself. Regardless, the language in this game is broken and will put off a lot of gamers. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 7 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected. So, should you buy this mobile app? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $10 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. TEN BUCKS FOR A FREE MOBILE APP. Just who do they think we are?
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this mobile app as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the mobile app (to date). Until this status changes, this mobile app will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this mobile app.
Extremely broken. The game started me on level 80 something and I am struggling to figure out how to play the earlier levels. When I play them, the scoring doesn't work
Again another really fun escape doors game from Peeksel games. These are colourful brain teasers for a more relaxed game play with a cup of you favourite drink and a biscuit. Its chill and I loved each pesky conundrum posed as I progressed through all 140 levels. I did it in stages and spent over 9 hours opening the doors. You can easily involve friends and share your screen with them if you need a helping hand. Excellent value for money with steam achievements as an added plus
I have had no trouble with other games in this series but this one will not save my progress. Every time I start a new session, it wants to start me at "Level 94", even when I open a door and am supposed to be automatically transported to the next subsequent room. Not worth the hassle...game over for me.
