There is this girl known as the Red Riding Hood. She has the strength of ten men. This is a completely different story about the familiar fairy-tale character Red Riding Hood. A much darker and twisted version.

Big ups for trying something different with the rpgmaker engine but the game itself sucks. The platforming part is janky so is the combat and the movement, it's like the protagonist is running on ice, that's especially frustrating when you have to land on small grass cubes. 10 euro full price is insane for this, it's not worth a single cent.
I'm playing games in alphabetical order, and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/nne52_NcdUg Prefer to read? In a nutshell, if this were made in a different engine, it could've been something special. Creating 1/2 Red Riding Hood in RPG Maker unfortunately resulted in far more limitations for the game, which is an interesting blend of a 2D Platformer with action combat and bullet hell mechanics. The story is a twisted retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale, with some player choices towards the end of the game altering the story, with 4 different endings available. Many game ideas feel underutilised, like being able to push or pick up objects, or even the special mage-slayer weapon, leaving you with a feeling of missed opportunity. I congratulate the dev on what they have achieved here, but sadly due to the floaty controls and maze-like level design, this is going to be a hard sell to all but the most dedicated RPG Maker fans. Worth a look if you're curious, but only if you can grab it on sale for a couple of dollars.
My Personal Game Score: 1 / 10 +Simple Artwork +Runs on low spec PC -Uncomfortable controls -The jumping and dashing on the air is annoying. -One wrong jump and you will start over again. -The character is slippery when walking and stopping immediately. -Its hard to dodge the enemies. Overall it is a bad game and needs to be improved in several aspects.
Another low quality game on RPG maker, but the developer was quite bold trying to make a platformer on this engine. But the developer failed, its too bad to play it

To underline that the visuals and controls are considered a bad joke.
1/2 Red Riding Hood is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." No real game development has taken place here, filling out templates in a video game construction kit does not make someone into a professional game developer. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Notably the developer here couldn't work out how to use RPG Maker to make an RPG... and that's the only thing RPG Maker can do properly... except it's not even very good for making RPGs. This is not a lame JRPG Final Fantasy ripoff. They managed to make a 2D retro pixel platformer instead. Guess what? Yep, RPG Maker is absolutely crap at making platformers. Controls and hitboxes are a nightmare, it's a clunky and unpolished mess. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. 1/2 Red Riding Hood didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievments, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for finding the first ending to the (quite short) game, and only around 35 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game, less than half the players. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. 1/2 Red Riding Hood has a laughable, eye watering price of $12 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games, let alone the sheer number of free games available on Steam. This kind of pricing on a construction kit copy+paste "game" implies it's a cash grab. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
________________________________ (English) The game was created with an RPG Maker. In general, I'm not a fan of RPG Maker games. But it looked kind of Jump n Run and didn't want to deprive you of a review video for this game. You play a Little Red Riding Hood and you can control with the keyboard but in the video I played with the controller. You have to use a few keys using a keyboard compared to a controller. You start at the first level and if you dive down into the water and want to jump out of the water again, you can no longer get to the platform. This means restarting the game and then not jumping into the water and then continuing to jump into the other level. The assignment of the controller: A = jumping B = thrust forward X = strike sword Left stick down and press X you can pick up objects if you stand on the object. Y = key takes you back from the inventory menu etc. The R and L keys take you to your inventory where you can equip a sword etc. For me, the graphics are simply good and the sound and effects don't blow anyone away. The gameplay as you can see in the video is not fun, nor is the control, which doesn't work smoothly. The price also arrows down for 99 cents in the winter sale is still far too expensive like the normal price of 9.99 euros. That's why this time, for the first time, no recommendation of the game.
There's so many issues with this game, but I can't get over the fact that I've never seen anything like this. I've played with RPG maker for a little bit and doing a platformer like this has never crossed my mind before. I would say, keep a RPGMaker file editor nearby if you get softlocked or the game is too difficult. I did get softlocked in one of my runs and decided to cheat and refill my health to get back my save file for example. After doing about 5 runs though (more like 17~ if you include going back to the start of a zone since exits are janky and you can easily reach the end of a zone and exist back to the begining of multiple screens) At the end of the day though, I'm still impressed and went for all endings + shards eventually. The game is short, the controls are janky, but it's an experience I've not had before.
