A once peaceful land, now overrun by monsters. You, a Star-Soul hero, are among a select few blessed to raze the land of evil.
In Zoeti, you are equipped with a deck of playing cards, with which you play card combinations (pair, full house, royal flush, etc.) to activate skills that will attack or defend against enemies. Further bolster your arsenal of skills and upgrades through battles and discovery. The blood of a dead god congeals into monsters roaming the countryside, threatening devout townsfolk and the simple lives they lead. Will you, a Star-Soul hero, protect them from the ravages of evil?
You'll need to crack open the enemy's defenses, bolster your grit and resolve, all while outsmarting the underhanded foes you face. Use your deck of playing cards to activate skills, attack foes, and defend yourself with card combinations, such as two pair, a full house, or straight flush. Through battle, discovery, and clever decision-making, you'll upgrade and enhance your build to complete the toughest challenges Zoeti has to offer.

Zoeti takes an unconventional approach to the roguelite genre by building its entire combat system around the language of poker. Developed by Dusklight CO., LTD. and published by Akupara Games, the title places players in a fantasy world threatened by creatures born from divine corruption. As one of several heroes empowered by celestial forces, your mission is to venture beyond the safety of the kingdom's walls and eliminate the growing menace before it consumes the land. While the story serves more as a framework than a centerpiece, it establishes enough context to support the game's adventurous tone and gives purpose to its repeated runs. What immediately distinguishes Zoeti from other turn-based roguelites is its replacement of traditional decks with standard playing cards. Every action in combat is tied to poker combinations, from simple pairs and three-of-a-kinds to more advanced hands like straights and flushes. Rather than constantly collecting cards to improve a deck, players are encouraged to think several turns ahead, weighing whether to spend a modest hand for survival or gamble on a stronger combination for greater rewards. This system creates a satisfying rhythm that feels both accessible and surprisingly tactical. Familiarity with poker is helpful, but the game explains its mechanics clearly enough that newcomers can quickly adapt. Each run offers branching paths filled with battles, random encounters, shops, and opportunities to improve your abilities. Progression comes through acquiring and upgrading skills, each of which can drastically alter a character's strengths. Some abilities emphasize aggressive playstyles that reward assembling powerful hands, while others focus on defense, status effects, or resource management. As players unlock additional content and experiment with different combinations, Zoeti reveals more strategic depth than its colorful presentation initially suggests. The roguelite structure is familiar, but the poker mechanics ensure that individual runs rarely feel identical. The game's visual direction complements its design philosophy. Character illustrations are vibrant, monsters possess distinct silhouettes, and combat animations deliver enough flair to make major attacks feel impactful. The soundtrack supports the experience well, shifting between energetic battle themes and more subdued exploration pieces without becoming repetitive. However, there are moments where the production values show their limitations. Environmental variety can feel somewhat limited over extended sessions, and players may notice reused assets more frequently than expected. These issues do not significantly detract from the experience, but they do prevent Zoeti from reaching the level of polish found in some of the genre's most celebrated titles. Zoeti also embraces challenge in a way that may not appeal to everyone. Success often depends on understanding enemy patterns and making efficient use of available card combinations. Poor decisions are punished quickly, and luck occasionally plays a larger role than some players may prefer. Nevertheless, the game generally strikes a respectable balance between randomness and skill. Defeat rarely feels meaningless, as each failed run contributes to a better understanding of mechanics and encourages experimentation during subsequent attempts. Perhaps Zoeti's greatest achievement is how naturally it integrates its central concept into every aspect of gameplay. Many titles introduce a unique mechanic only to build a conventional experience around it, but Zoeti commits fully to its poker-inspired identity. From combat decisions to skill interactions and progression systems, everything revolves around making the most of the cards in your hand. It is a focused design choice that gives the game a personality of its own in a genre crowded with imitators. Although it lacks the expansive scope and production values of some larger roguelites, Zoeti succeeds by offering an inventive and enjoyable experience that remains engaging over multiple playthroughs. Its combination of strategic turn-based encounters, meaningful progression, and a memorable poker-based combat system makes it easy to recommend to players searching for something slightly different. It may not redefine the genre, but it confidently establishes itself as one of the more creative entries in recent years. Rating: 7/10
Enfim, recomendo.
Very fun! Interesting concept and cute ideas. Poor execution and does not feel finished.
Review from a very frustrated Dominik, who didn't understand that the characters are not balanced even a litlte bit at all: Mh... either I am just too stupid to get the game... or the difficulty is all over it... I am really not sure if it is my incompetence. But man, I do not get to finish any of htese runs... I get that the enemies are supposed to be dazed or interrupted.... but I don't have any way of doing that?! Am I just not seeing something? I am honestly not sure. Eh... nothing else to tell. Not much happened. Wilds been fun this far. And now a review from a Dominik who read the reviews pointing out that this is a horribly balanced game with very bad character balancing: Yeah... I did win... weird how changing characters made the next two chapter turn from impossible to a piece of cake. Also, I am pretty sure all the skills you unlock from leveling up are just kinda worse than the main once... so... - The translation was spotty. But charming, very charming, but kinda bad. - The art looks amazing. Let's be real here. That is why I bought it. - AAAAnd that's about it. Really. Since the characters are completaly unbalanced I can't really see much replay value. Nor do I feel the need too. But I do like that it was kinda cute. Also this game cost me like 30cents. How am I supposed to not give it a positive review? Even if I feel like my time was kinda... I don't wanna say wasted... let's say mediocrely spend.
I really wanted to like Zoeti, but I just couldn’t. 2/5
On my scale, a 2/5 game is disappointing, unfun, or otherwise not worth the purchase price. There are definitely better alternatives, and I highly recommend you consider finding one of those. Zoeti is a combination of Balatro, Slay the Spire, and something else I can’t put my finger on. That I can’t put my finger on it is already a bad sign, because it means I can’t even begin to think about this game in a nuanced or detailed way. It is just… blah. The artwork is cute and the music is alright, but by-and-large the game is entirely forgettable. The story is nonsensical. I don’t understand why people put the effort into making a story-based game if their story doesn’t make any sense. For example, the characters speak and speak and speak, but what does anything they say have to do with anything that occurs in the game? We don’t even get a proper introduction to the main character, so I don’t really understand who she is or why she’s doing anything she’s doing. Slay the Spire and Balatro are both games with no story—or at least you don’t need to understand it. They’re pure plug-and-play games in the sense that you boot them up, pick your mechanics, and play. Zoeti tried to innovate these similar mechanics into a story, but it just… doesn’t land. When the story just launches into random worldbuilding without establishing why you should care, it’s not a winning formula. It’s just frustrating. None of the core mechanics are really explained either, which is fine because you can mostly figure them out. And the actual core gameplay is O.K. but just so. You chain card combinations from different poker sets, each set leading to a different move. The cards only go from 2 through 7 (or 8?) anyway, so it’s easy enough to chain these card combos. But they’re just not that interesting. You can’t have multiple moves correspond to the same playable set of cards (e.g. every flush does the same thing). You can’t really chain anything in this game. You can’t really build super interesting combos. You just kinda do things one at a time until the hand runs out. The enemies have disgusting mechanics, like evade. ♥♥♥♥ evade. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. What brainlet decided that every stack of evade would nullify 10 damage. So if they stack 6 evades, you need to clear 60 damage in a single hit to actually clear the buff completely. This is completely impossible to do btw, and is the point. But when there are so few attack cards, and they do so little damage, when you are facing two enemies that constantly stack evade it feels impossible unless you dedicate a significant amount of your time to buffing yourself. Yet buffing yourself opens you up to a lot of damage. In short, the fundamental problem with this game is that there aren’t many options to do a ton of damage. The buffs are weak. The enemies are strong. You aren’t guaranteed a full heal after completing a boss fight. I don’t understand the point of the story. And the game isn’t super fun. I cannot even recommend it on sale.
