[i]Zero Punctuation: Hatfall: Hatters Gonna Hat Edition[/i] is a comedic score attack game about collecting hats. Created by [i]The Escapist[/i]'s Yahtzee Croshaw, this short game faithfully captures the spirit of Yahtzee's show [i]Zero Punctuation[/i], and thus is sure to please its fans. It boasts a surprisingly deep narrative and upgrade system that promote solid replayability for such a simple concept. While achievement hunters will struggle with the unreasonably high thresholds for the final achievements and all players will face some graphical bugs, there's enough here to justify a purchase for interested players, especially visiting fans. In [i]Hatfall[/i], you run back and forth to collect hats until you miss one. Levels get progressively harder as the screen clutters with more NPCs and the game throws in other threats and distractions. The hats serve as both a currency to unlock "upgrades" and as a nebulous counter on the main menu until...something happens. The upgrades, while mostly cosmetic, can segue into odd minigames that often involve branching choices such that you'll want to buy them again to see all the options - thus, the replayability. The game's writing, between the minigames, the quotes on interstitial screens, and everything relating to the countdown exude the comedic energy of [i]Zero Punctuation[/i]. Crass humor, political digs, mockery of videogame tropes, exotic profanity - whether one is a fan of Yahtzee's humor generally would serve as a good litmus test for how well one would enjoy this game's writing. Though some of the jokes can grow stale through the repeats that extended play sessions entail, there is enough writing to satisfy the 3-4 hours it takes to resolve the game's "plot." As a score attack game, this is the ideal kind of subject for achievement hunter or score attackers. Unfortunately, the most difficult achievements require way too much dedication. As mentioned, there are roughly 3-4 hours of fresh content to explore - and then look at my playtime. These achievement requirements should've been cut in half, at least. To compound the inconvenience, this game has no Steam Cloud support, meaning that all progress for one of the hardest achievements resets everytime the player uninstalls. Otherwise, beyond some non-gamebreaking graphical bugs, there is little to complain about. [i]Hatfall[/i] feels like a gift specifically tailored for [i]Zero Punctuation[/i] fans. The extremely basic premise and short runtime offer little draw on their own, but the knowledge of being able to enter a playable realm of Yahtzee's making all the while supporting the creator himself and enjoying some otherwise forgotten content should make this a gratifying purchase for fans. And for the non-fans, it can serve as a nice introduction too! [i]Zero Punctuation: Hatfall - Hatters Gonna Hat Edition[/i] gets a B-.

This game is like my potato soup, Just stuff moving from left to right without ever knowing where is right and where is left. But in basic you play the role of goofy guy who collect hats like its some sort of badge of honor. while trying to dodge whatever some random superhero thats behind the screen throws at you. Seriously who can throw a piano.Also you will have to dodge stop signs like that one time you went home drunk and you had to stay still because the sign menacingly stared at you saying stop. + the random event minigames are fun as much as peeing in morning, like you know where it's going but the hell you ain't know how it end up. 10 out of 10 dentists recommends this game. _____________________________________________ In all honesty i still hope Yahtzee still owns rights to this kind of stuff. He fcking deserve it. Can't wait for 2nd game with the visuals of Fully ramblamatic series.

Mediocre and Annoying to play

I discovered Yahtzee Croshaw back in his early days when he posted the Zero Punctuation to YouTube for The Darkness II and followed him off and on for many years, including buying Mogworld when it came to audiobook on iTunes (which included him reading the book). Naturally when I found out that there was a Zero Punctuation game out I threw money at it to get it. Hatfall - Hatters Gonna Hat has all of the Zero Punctuation humor without the Escapist drama. It is a recommendation for anyone who enjoys the Zero Punctuation reviews and wishes to support the creator.

A great simple little fun game with more surprises then you would think. Also, genuinely punch to the gut funny. If you are thinking of getting this game, I can highly recommend. It's this or a 20 pack of cheap cigarettes, your call.

Funniest game I ever played. There was a joke so funny that I was left breathless. This is definitely my sense of humor. If you haven't bought this game already, buy it. What are you waiting for?
