New version release method is really disappointing to longtime fans and players. I bought the most expensive version, Ys X: Nordics Ultimate Edition (Launch). But after you released the new version (Ys X: Proud Nordics), existing players have to wait until March 6, 2026 to get a discount on the Ys X Special Upgrade Pack. And even if we buy the Special Upgrade Pack, we still lose the original pre-order (Launch) bonuses. Do you think I care about that bit of money? No. What I care about is the heart. You’ve hurt the hearts of loyal fans who have supported you all this time.
You don't need to buy this, this version is "Shame" version: YS X:
Shameful
Nordics Buy "Proud" version instead with more things. Also if you ever want to buy another YS game like YS XI.Wait a few weeks to buy Proud version. DON'T YOU EVER buy first version of YS game again.

$47 charge for what is essentially DLC content to upgrade to Proud Nordics is pretty bogus.
L, u can't upgrad this version to proud...

yet another Dev/Publisher showing how much they hate their own (western) fans sad

I finally came around playing this one. It is clear what they're trying to do: the recreation of YS 8, probably one of the best action games I've ever played. They succeeded for the most part. YS games have an unique charm to them where you truly feel like you're going on an adventure. The music, the places, the characters, atmosphere - everything comes together into giving you that adventurous spirit the game is trying to sell you. That's about it, in things it has in common with YS 8, because the combat has taken a few steps back. I played on Inferno, and this is not a particularly hard game because the guard mechanic is broken. You can guard and perfect guard with ease, with no punishment so most of the time you're gonna spam R2 like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ attempting to get the perfect guard. That's literally all you do, whereas in YS8 if you missed your parry timing, you'd get punished. They also removed the dodge mechanic from YS8 & 9, where you would slow time down if done perfectly. What? This is such a retarded change, because you only have guard. "Blue attacks" can be dodged by running into them (?) and you get some upgraded attack slash that lasts 1 hit...Extremely retarded to erase one of the core mechanics of the series like that, not even trying to give us something better or equally good. That's why the combat is by far the worst part of this game. If YS 8 is a 10, then this game is a 7, all because of the combat. After 50 hours of playing Nordics, the combat was taking its toll on me because it started to become stale, boring and mindless. To put that into perspective, I've put 100h in YS 8 and never had that feeling. To make up for the dumbing down of the combat, this game has a cross system with the other main character: Karja. She's well written and a really good female character, I have nothing to complain about. You can switch them on the fly in combat, each has its own skills and they also can use duo skills, where they combine their ice and fire magic/powers to deal massive dmg. It's a novel idea, I never seen it in another game, but I dont think it's better than YS8 and 9. Is interesting, but due to there not being any punishment for guarding and no dodge mechanic, the whole combat situation makes it feel retarded. I'll say it again, you'll spam R2 like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the whole game. The window for parries is also insanely forgiving, even on inferno. Story is serviceable, is good enough to keep you wanting to know where it goes. Being a modern Falcom game, I must comment on this, because is an unforgivable sin of their modern videogame design. This whole game is about adventure and EXPLORATION, but if everything is marked on the map, then what's the point of the whole exploration aspect? It mitigates itself. IF YOUR IN GAME MECHANIC NULLIFIES YOUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY, THEN YOU'VE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ UP. YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥ UP. YOU NEED TO STOP. YOU MUST STOP DOING THIS. YOU MUST STOP HOLDING THE HAND OF THE PLAYER WITH MARKERS, YOU NEED TO STOP, BRO. Jesus Christ, they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up all their games because of these markers, and that's hardly an opinion. Nordics also has DLC. I've looked up what it adds and what? Why is Falcom doing this? All you get is a new Island, which is apparently huge, 2 new characters that expand the lore of the game, some new skills, new stone-type for your upgrades. That's fine, but why cant I buy this DLC on the normal version, which I have. I have to buy the entire game again. That's retarded, there's no upgrade path. If you don't own this already, buy the Proud version, otherwise is not worth re-buying the game. Most of the negative reviews are about this btw. Stop with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ markers.
