If you love 3D platformers, I'd recommend giving this game a try. The environments are well crafted and dynamic, with a variety of obstacles you can often overcome intuitively. I liked the different types of "bombs" you can unlock and choose to play with; they encourage exploration and reward your efforts. Keep in mind that the game will test your reflexes and even your nerves at times, so be prepared to repeat a scenario you were about to complete: that's the hard law of platformers, after all. Love them or hate them, there's no middle ground.
If you think it's a simple game to play with your brain off, you're wrong. The game is very fun and you can easily fall into the rage, the physics is very accurate and the bomb reacts differently to different surfaces. Playing it with the Pad is a pleasure. Personally, at this overrecommended price!
I went into You Are the Bomb without really knowing what to expect, and honestly, I had way more fun than I thought. The idea is super simple: you control a bomb and roll through levels full of traps, enemies, and collectibles. But what makes it interesting is the physics-based movement. At first it feels a bit weird and slippery, but after a while it actually becomes really satisfying once you get used to it. The levels are pretty creative too. There are hidden gems, different paths, and even some boss fights, so it doesn’t feel repetitive. I also liked that you can replay levels to improve your time or find secrets you missed. It’s not the easiest game, especially because of the time pressure (your fuse is always ticking 😅), but it never felt unfair to me—more like “okay, I can do better next try.” Visually, the game is colorful and fun, and the whole “rolling bomb” concept gives it a unique vibe compared to other platformers. Also, knowing this was made by a solo developer makes it even more impressive. 👍 What I liked: Simple but original idea Fun physics once you get used to it Levels with secrets and replay value Nice colorful style 👀 Just keep in mind: Movement can feel a bit tricky at the beginning Some levels can be a bit stressful because of the timer Overall: Not a super hardcore review here, but as a casual player I genuinely enjoyed it. It’s one of those games that’s easy to pick up for a quick session but still challenging enough to keep you coming back. ✔️ Recommended if you like platformers with a bit of challenge!
I started playing this game and immediately got absorbed into the explosive atmosphere! The game is very entertaining and, above all, challenging. Frustrating at times, since controlling the bomb can usually result in easy failure, being each stage littered with traps everywhere! The variability of the scenarios, of the enemy bombs and the presence of NPCs throughout the game, besides the many available protagonist bombs (the so called "boomers"), makes the game worth of giving a try. Also, the soundtrack gives off old platform game vibes, which is enjoyable, and the presence of many secrets and unlockables contribuites into the intriguing atmosphere. Defenitely recommended.
Clever games curator review.. This is an interesting mix of genres that I don't usually see together. It is a precision platformer involving ball rolling, and a lot of momentum, fairly strict time limits, AND collectathon style goals need to finish each level. The graphics are pretty good, as they are generated by Unreal 5(/4?). Unfortunately, there is one huge quality of life issue, which is the camera controls attempt to follow you, but often end up following you from what feels like inches away rather than giving enough of a bird's eye view to be able to move intelligently and respond to your environment. Of course, there are manual camera controls, but you'll have to fight the automatic ones. There are also design choices that I don't really like, although they make sense from the precision platformer / rage quit aspect. Instant death. Somewhat weird ball rolling mechanics where you're actually a bomb shape with a little bump on the top that causes it to bounce around and be hard to get started rolling without a lot of momentum, if you happen to be lying in the wrong position. And, of course, that timer, which I don't like at all since I tend to be interested in the calmer versions of collectathons. However, it should be somewhat clear that I am not the ideal audience here, and so I will refrain from leaving a low rating or, goodness gracious, a negative review. I think that someone who is into precision platforming, time challenges, etcetera, could well enjoy this game. However, I do wanna flag the fact that making a game of that variety involves extra care because choices that lean in on high difficulty can also look a lot like bad game design. You have to really carefully polish your product to make sure that it is playable and not just unfairly hard. And it's hard for me to say for sure which it is here. However, this absolutely isn't an asset flip and is also clearly made with care and attention. So I think that for some people, it's worth trying. PS to dev: consider making an untimed peaceful mode where death just warps you back to the start without losing collectables?
Thumbs up! (Ho ricevuto la key in regalo perchè lo sviluppatore è un amico, ma la recensione la posto perchè mi ci sono veramente divertito, nessun compenso dietro, ci tengo a specificare !)
