This game is a mess. Frankly, it should probably be Early Access, not a released game.
At its face-value, ALIENS INVADED OUR PLANET is a survival-horror shooter with a western theme but with aliens. There's a Story mode with the regular waves like the sub-genre usually has, and an Endless mode with just constantly spawning mobs all around. In the Endless mode I encountered the usual facehuggers and greys, while I also fought some cacodemons / beholders in the Story mode, right before the crash.
Gameplay loop and the fatal error
I reached day 15 (of 49 I think) before I experienced a fatal error that ultimately crashed the game. The game saves progress, so I could continue from this point, but I've seen enough. The crash was far from the only issue with the game. Every wave (or day in Story mode) starts in the Sheriff's office, where you can pick up weapons you've unlocked by playing missions in the Story mode. So far so good, right? My first day went alright: I had to run to avoid the aliens and shoot them frantically, and if this worked perfectly, it could be a decent game. I killed all the greys in the vicinity of the town. But I couldn't find one of them. Finally, I found them stuck in the desert, doing nothing but jumping (ridiculously high bounces) at regular intervals. During the next waves, I noticed that if I went outside the town, the enemy AI would totally break. They would stop at the edge of the town, or run straight and finally stop at the desert, only attacking if I went right next to them. Then I could simply pick them up one by one from the distance. Afterwards, I would still have to go looking for the few who got stuck brooding in the desert.
Other features and issues
One positive thing: special power-ups are a nice touch for an arcade shooter like this - I especially liked the (slightly overpowered) explosive bullets. There's multiplayer for up to 6 players. I don't see much reason to play it because of the AI bugs but well, I tried hosting my server. As it's an unmarketed game that just launched, not surprisingly no one joined for the 45 minutes that I played. I wonder how the AI would react to multiple players when even a single one can break it. Menus would also need some polish. E.g. changing difficulty setting has the arrow button change place with the length of the name of the setting. Visually the game looks and runs fine though: I experienced only some minor stutters once when a lot of ragdolls accumulated. For now, fixing/improving the AI would do heaps to the game's quality and render it less exploitable.
Conclusions
Unlike usual, I haven't got all the achievements in the game, so I can't tell about the end game content. However, this time I felt it wasn't worth the effort. Frankly, I don't think the game was ready for release. I posted the bug reports to the Steam forums, which I hope the developer will address soon. However, I won't be following up on the game - I'm sorry to say that I'll get a refund instead. ~Twistorian Curator~ * Aftermath: I now have the game again as a result of a pre-order of Groupees Build a Bundle 46 as of '18 Nov 11. If a patch comes to address some of the more critical issues, I might check it out again.
I think the game deserves to have the "Steam restrictions" removed so that Steam Achievements count globally and you get a "+1" in your public game collection on Steam! Please and thank you Valve!
Aliens Invaded Our Planet is left too unfinished to recommend, even on a discount. Just the title of the game alone gives a sense of how little effort was put into it. It is riddled with broken achievements, AI (breaks when the player or enemies wonder outside the town), Steam items, point/cash system, ect. The entire game is played on a single map that you’re supposed to defend, but has nothing in it. It’s like the aliens unknowingly picked a high school theater set to invade. Aside from the Sheriff starting station, none of the other buildings can be entered and peering into reveals they are all just completely empty inside. Outside the town is a simple desert with the same cactus asset copied and pasted over again. There have been no updates since it was released or word from the developer. I actually played the game through to the end only to discover there is no actual end, just the words “To be continued…” I couldn’t believe that the dev already has plans to re-release this game again as another quick cash grab without even finishing it first.
Full disclosure: I got this game on sale for like $.87. It's worth about that. Stock sounds, stock guns, stock aliens. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is this game great if you don't need something to take seriously. The jenkyness and bugs transcend bad game and go straight to meme level. This a game you get piss drunk, play for thirty minutes swearing madly at it, laugh, cry, text your ex, regret your life choices and go to bed. 11/10
1.5/10 kinda fun with weird physics why does this game want to get past my fire wall? made it to day 5 and im vs a boss with a hit box thats way off got it down to no health and it wont die - never once used a gun other than the 6 barrel revolver, no idea how to unlock/find them - you can get stuck on and in just about everything - game crashed on me once you can buy tnt at a tiny vending machine out in the open and try to pick it up, stupid hard to do well everything is trying to kill you and i hit every single key on the keyboard and have no idea how to throw it controls part of the game menu doesn't tell you ♥♥♥♥
this is just like sword and sandal

Select between Endless, Story, or a specific day of the Story Mode (Day 5 is a killer, as you must defeat the Mama Alien), and the max number of players up to 6. I've never found anyone to play with though in any mode. MODES Story Endless DIFFICULTIES Classic Hard Impossible AI The Aliens are a little on the stupid side, although it you get too close to them they will attack. The more difficult the difficulty the more aliens there are to deal with. COSTUMES Can be purchased in-game or through the Steam Store. Cost is $0.25 per costume. Neon Mickey Mouse ears anyone? ACHIEVEMENTS: 41 While this game has mixed reviews, and while I could never get the vending machines in town to work (Story Mode) i really like Endless Mode. Nothing like killing a few hundred aliens. :) My new play video, playing Endless Mode first in Hard Difficulty, and then in Impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13E_dpAT1Vk
This is honestly a really fun game. Not sure how much of the game is assets or not, and the game isn't polished 100%. It may have minor glitches, boss gets stuck at certain round but it saves everyday so you don't have to go back to the start which is a nice feature. Graphics are honestly quite nice for what it is. Overall, I paid $0.59 and I say every penny was worth it.
Janky, broken, buggy and badly designed mess.
