A new action platform RPG, inspired by all the people the heroes always ended up screwing over. Stupid heroes...

There wasn't any news for more than a Year (here and on the kickstarter) and the official forum is dead "error 403".. DO NOT BUY this, it was a RIPOFF all this time.
I was a kickstarter backer for this game and i was heavily invested in following the progress of the game, However the lack of progress even if the Dev had "streams" and "videos" on youtube showing "progress" there has been no progress and if I remember correctly the dev outright stated that he used most of the funds for his own wedding instead of on the game like he had promised he would. The game is unfinished and you cannot complete the game. The content that is there is decent but its not a complete experience. I do not recommend anyone get the game as you are basically paying someone that has no intention to continue working on the game. Its sad... this game had potential but it was squandered by a shortsighted dev.

As mentioned, this is an early access review - a very early access, in fact. Not all the chapters have been included, nor much of the side quests, but the strength of this game lies very much in its 4th wall breaking humor where the players get the enjoy how silly the RPG genre actually is if you're living through a side-character's life. You Are Not The Hero makes you feel like you're one of those characters that the Hero accidently affects but players would normally not notice as anything other than a 'background' of a party member. One of those major NPCs that makes things happen, but you would normally not see how much work goes into making those things happen. However, as I mentioned this is currently on very early access - I cannot recommend the game right now unless you intend to support the creators. Maybe when they release all the main storyline would I recommend the game as it is rather buggy and incomplete as it is.
I helped fund this game on Kickstarter. It looked nice, and the creator was friendly. Then, after this little preview - poof, nothing. No news, no updates. This for YEARS. Save your money, get something else. ...mind you, if the developer gets off his rear and completes the game, and it is just as good as it looked in the beginning, I might remove or update this review. Otherwise, this stays.
Nothing new here, but having played through all the content there is to offer years ago in 2018, and regularly checking back, there is still nothing new from this game. A shame really, I loved this game's concept.
A scam. Unfinished game. The developer does not seem to have any intention to finish it.
This game had a lot of promise and potential, but it was just a scam. This developer should be ashamed of themselves for taking people's hard-earned money and run off with it while never admitting what they did. Shame on Steam for keeping this game up for purchase.
Abandoned game.
I wish I could recommend this game. But the developers have abandoned it in early access, after running off with their Kickstarter backers' money. This game has promise that will never be realized. Don't make the same mistake we did.
Disclaimer: This was written on 08/02/15. The final game might change significantly. This game riffs the genre of JRPGs but it's mechanically closer to Legend of Zelda, at least at first. You solve environmental and logic puzzles. You do fetch quests for villagers (in one case literally). It's script is a fun romp through the bizzare rules of old jRPGs where we suspend or belief for certain things, though whether or not we should is an open question. It's also got some interesting themes forshadowed in the main story that I look forward to see pan out down the road. I really want to like this game, and sometimes I do. I just take issue with engine problems. The game will slow to a crawl during heavy action sequences. My laptop is a couple years old, but it can play Crysis and Dark Souls 2, games that demand a fast computer. Again, the game IS still in beta and I'm confident the developers WILL iron out these kinks by the time it goes gold. If you're looking for something different, and you don't mind paying for a beta version, give it a try. Caveat Empor
