The good: - A very fun experience with tight controls and really great assets. - Light resource management elements are challenging and maintain a positive feedback loop. - Maps are visually appealing and always complex enough to be stimulating. - Enemy types are varied and appealing to play against. The bad: - There isn't a way to exit from a game. - Bonus levels have no time limit, which makes them not very challenging. - The English in "How to Play" needs some proofreading. - 'EXPLOSIVE' mechanic is disappointing when letters you don't need spawn.
While this game isn’t my particular cup of tea, for what it is it’s quite polished. The gameplay is frantic yet engaging and I thought the soundtrack (which has variety and changes with each subsequent level) was pretty good. That said, the game is too retro by design for me to devote too much of my precious time to it, especially considering how far behind I am in catching up with my too large Steam library. The thing that ultimately put me off is the difficulty. Having to replay the same levels over and over again until I could advance a level caused too much frustration in the end. If you’re a fan of Pac-Man (which I never was) or similar retro fare - you’ll probably love this game. Other gamers like me will probably be turned off for the reason listed above. Thank you to the developer for providing the free key. 😎
This is another game that I have received on my curator account a long time ago. This is a game from the same MIBT developers, which I reviewed and I guess that's why they sent me a copy of this other game. However, although I have tried to contact the developers with a question, I have not received a response. This I have to say. As for the XEYYEX game, it is quite good, in fact I liked it more than MIBT. It is a mix between pacman, bomberman and the game of tanks. He has very good ideas, like the fact of always being aware of looking for points, ammunition, time and the letters "EXPLOSIVE", which will give you bombs and will be very necessary to get you out of trouble. Each screen adds a new enemy with a different behavior, and every 5 levels there is a level that consists of emptying the screen of pills as in pac man. It is very difficult, yes, I have not been able to overcome level 14. It can be played in coop mode, although I haven't tried it yet. recommended 8/10 Hey, if this review has been useful to you, you can follow me on: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38997970/
good game and highly recommend
Jogo 10/10.
Many games try to get the retro vibe but most do not achieve it. This one succeeds. It is hard but not extreamely hard. It is simple but not lacking. I will probably play it from time to time to beat my high score.
Disclaimer: i got the key for free from the developer. Put that aside i would like to assure you that this review is the product of my free will and nothing else. Xeyyex is an indie game produced by Feruloxstudios a game studios in India and it's kinda a mix between PacMan and BomberMan: you have to move your character, a giant Eyeball, in these maze like levels while avoiding/killing enemies that are roaming around to make your escape to the next level. Xeyyex's philosophy is quite simple: easy to get in but hard to master. In order to survive each level you will need not only to collect things like points, normal ammo, additional time, letters to get special ammo for a bomb attack but also to learn the behavior of each enemy (but not the pathfinding which is random) and their weakness and you will also have to dodge some traps in certain levels. That's said, while you DO can try to farm points and get some additional lives in the early levels you also have to keep in mind that you will die in just one hit and that enemies will continue to spawn eventually overrunning you if you don't make your escape in time. You should also consider that you can't carry your additional time and ammo from a level to another since they will reset at the beginning of every level. On an ending note, I do find Xeyyex to be a nice little niche game with an old school vibe, definitely worth a try.
