XEYYEX 2: Colour Wars

XEYYEX II: Colour Wars is a throwback to the one-screen arcade games of the NES and Commodore 64 era, but with a unique twist. You play as an eyeball navigating a labyrinth, chasing down creatures that match your current color. The catch is, you can only eat the creatures that are the same color as you, and to change your color, you have to locate transformers that are randomly scattered across the map. While the game lacks the direct enemy-chase mechanic of classics like Pac-Man, the sheer number of critters swarming the screen more than makes up for it. If you don't keep moving, you'll be overwhelmed and defeated in seconds. Visually and mechanically, XEYYEX II is very barebones. It’s clear that this game is meant for quick bursts of play rather than long sessions, especially since it focuses on arcade-style high-score chasing. At less than the price of a cup of coffee, it’s hard to complain about what’s on offer. XEYYEX II doesn’t break new ground, but for a few rounds of nostalgic, fast-paced fun, it's a decent deal—especially if you’re into retro-style games. Just be prepared for a steep learning curve and some frustrating moments as you try to keep up with the ever-growing horde of beasts.
