Старая добрая научная фантастика во всей красе. Здоровая толика юмора и острот, много нюансов и мелочей, делают игру еще более увлекательной.

Relatively unforgiving but very satisfying. I love the art style, the writing, and surprisingly, the plot.
You come to my planet? Steal my cows? CALL ME INFERIOR?
Dull, cheap fight mechanics, cheap mechanics all around it feels very clunky. There is no depth to game. Intercept send few guys kill few aliens come back type of game. I don't think i will play to 2 hours mark and probably gonna refund it. Bought it at 75% discount but i still don't see the light in the game to make it worth to buy even on 75% discount. One part of me says it was cheap so just keep it and force yourself to enjoy it. Other part of me says its a bait don't burn your few bucks on this game and just refund.
This game actually just sucks. The aliens kill your soldiers in one hit, are much more accurate than you, seem to have better action economy (can run further and shoot more per turn) and there's a lot more of them. The hit chances for your characters are down at 20% most of the time, heavies are useless due to needing their entire turn to shoot and then only having 10% accuracy, aliens and your guys both randomly get overwatch shots but I've literally never had my units get a reaction shot while the enemies get plenty. The aliens magically know where you are and will blindside insta-kill your guys from a corner you haven't had time to scout yet. I tried getting the tank. If your soldiers are wet tissue paper then a tank is wet printer paper. It takes 2-3 hits to die instead of one, but considering aliens can burst fire 3 shots per round... Yeah, it doesn't exactly last and it's not at all worth the resources. All in all, it just seems unfun. Am I supposed to expect multiple soldiers to die per battle? Am I supposed to replace tanks every couple of fights? If so then why does it say "bad" at the results screen if more than one person goes down? Add to all that just general RNG BS (missing 90% shots, enemies hitting 5% shots) and it's just not fun. Some people might say it's a hardcore experience. I don't agree. I think you can have hardcore games that don't just kick you in the shins repeatedly. There's a world of difference between a fair but difficult game and a masochistic slot machine spinner like this game. Edit: I played a bit more and I have some more criticisms. I read a steam guide that helped explain some of the mechanics a bit better. For one, your soldiers need action points left at the end of their turn in order to reaction fire an enemy. Which leads to my first new point. The game doesn't explain ANYTHING. There are some very basic tutorials at the very start of the game saying "This is the world map" and "This is a battle map", and some basic explanations of the mechanics along the lines of "you have action points and your soldiers can shoot". You want to know weapon stats before you equip them? No dice. You want to know a rough direction the enemy could be in? Too bad, you have to use metagame tricks like checking the borders of the map to get an idea of where to be heading. Will this forward facing cover block shots from that enemy at 22 degrees or do I need diagonal cover? Are they averaged for split cover shots? No idea. The game will tell you none of this. If you want to have fun with this game then read some guides and just be ready to trial and error literally everything. A little in the same line but the difficulty settings say veteran is for people that have played games like this before. It's not. It's for people that have played this exact game before. The enemies are much more manageable on normal difficulty, but that could also be random. The first time I played veteran I was fighting the grey humanoid enemies, which this time were the second enemies to show up after the lizardmen, who do far less reaction shots, have worse accuracy and there are generally less of them. So it was just easier the second time around. Still not going to recommend this game though because after having more success I had the thought "am I actually having more fun with this than I would with Xcom?" and the answer was just "No." The one thing this game does better is the air combat mini-game. It's honestly pretty cool. It's a real shame the rest of the game lets it down.
I would recommend this game ever over similar, more modern alternatives with similar gameplay. I like this quite a bit more than XCOM 2, for a number of reasons. It may be a bit older, and not as shiny, but the AI is just as capable and thinks much more quickly. In a lot of strategy games in this genre, I find I'm waiting 20-40 seconds for the computer to take it's turn. In Xenonauts, the AI almost always ends it's turn in around 5-10 seconds, usually on the shorter end. The difficulty settings also feel like they're built for replayability - the easiest settings are still fairly difficult for someone new to the game, but beatable after a few tries or with slow, careful gameplay. The hardest difficulties are nearly impossible. I've had this game for quite awhile and I still come back every now and then. One of the best games in it's genre.
Very poorly done copy of X-COM
I once instantly killed my best soldier because I thought putting C4 back into your soldiers inventory would turn it off. It did not, in fact, turn off.
