Reviews
Relatively unforgiving but very satisfying. I love the art style, the writing, and surprisingly, the plot.
It feel's like UFO defence, its hard and I like it, to those wuss negative reviews saying I keep losing squad mates, its a part of the process. Your suppose to lose, which makes you do the research to learn how to make the better weapons and armour the only negative thing I can take away was that I did not like the air combat so I mostly auto resolved them, but I do recommend that you at least try air combat. All I'm gonna say is, try it no matter if you played XCOM UFO defence or the remakes or any other turn based game, and don't go crying to the reviews saying that it's hard you wuss's.

Amazing old school game, its a copy of X-Com, saga like Terror of from the deep., but modern time. Congrats to developers, I know game was done in a really low budget.
"Xenonauts" is more than just a strategy game; it’s a powerful tale of humanity’s resilience and the indomitable human spirit that surface when faced with existential threats. The game expertly mixes turn-based combat and resource management, showcasing the determination of your soldiers and the sacrifices they make to defend Earth. The gameplay is tense and strategic, with every mission carrying real stakes. The graphics may be basic, but the isometric style creates an engaging and immersive atmosphere.
HOW DO YOU BOUNCE THE GRENADE OFF THE UFO?????ITS A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GIGANTIC HOLE, NO DOOR LEFT. AT THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE SIDE OF WHERE YOU AIMED. IM GLAD YOU DIED CPL ZEMAN, IDIOT, I JUST WISH YOU DIDNT WOUND HALF MY GUYS. AND WTF IS "BESERK"?
Xenonauts, developed by Goldhawk Interactive, proves to be a worthy successor to the beloved X-COM series, offering players an engaging and challenging turn-based strategy experience. Set in an alternate history where humanity faces an alien invasion, the game puts you in the shoes of the commander of the global defense force known as Xenonauts. As the player, you must manage resources, research alien technology, and engage in tactical combat to safeguard humanity from extraterrestrial threats. One of the standout features of Xenonauts is its faithful homage to the classic X-COM series. The game retains the core elements that fans loved from the original, including turn-based combat, base management, and research. Goldhawk Interactive has successfully captured the essence of the beloved franchise, making it a nostalgic delight for long-time X-COM fans. The turn-based combat in Xenonauts is both tactical and challenging. Each mission requires careful planning, as the loss of soldiers is permanent. This adds a sense of realism and urgency to every encounter, making players genuinely invested in the well-being of their troops. The isometric maps and diverse alien foes keep the combat fresh and engaging throughout the game. Base management is another strong aspect of Xenonauts. Constructing and expanding underground bases, researching alien technology, and manufacturing advanced equipment are vital for countering the alien threat effectively. The strategic layer of the game, with UFO sightings and attacks occurring globally, keeps players on their toes, offering a dynamic and immersive experience. Moreover, the game's art style and atmosphere complement its gameplay perfectly. The retro-inspired graphics pay homage to the classic X-COM titles while providing a unique charm to the modern game. The music and sound design contribute to the tense and immersive atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience. However, Xenonauts is not without its flaws. Some players may find the game's difficulty to be steep, especially for newcomers to the genre. The learning curve can be challenging, and a lack of in-depth tutorials may leave some players feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, the interface and controls could use some improvement to enhance the overall user experience. Despite these minor shortcomings, Xenonauts remains a compelling and enjoyable strategy game. With its engaging gameplay, faithful tribute to the X-COM series, and the excitement of commanding a global defense force against an alien menace, Xenonauts manages to carve its niche in the genre. Additionally, while Xenonauts captures the spirit of classic turn-based strategy, one slight drawback is its lack of 3D graphics. The game employs a 2D isometric perspective, which, at times, can present challenges when trying to target enemies on the battlefield accurately. The absence of a fully rotatable camera can occasionally lead to frustrating situations where line-of-sight and positioning are not as intuitive as they could be. This limitation might impact the overall gameplay experience for some players, especially those accustomed to modern 3D strategy games. However, it is worth noting that the developers have still managed to craft engaging tactical combat despite this restriction, and the 2D visuals have their own nostalgic appeal for fans of classic strategy games. While a 3D environment could have improved targeting precision, it does not detract significantly from the enjoyment of the overall experience in Xenonauts. In the end, despite this minor drawback, Xenonauts remains a solid and highly recommended title for strategy enthusiasts, as it successfully blends classic elements with modern gameplay mechanics to deliver an immersive and challenging alien invasion experience.
Excellent game. If you like x-com style games, this feels very much like a throwback to the older titles. Love the multiple bases angle as well. I enjoyed playing this through multiple times and can't wait for Xenonauts 2! Pick this title up on discount to carry you over until the sequel is here
Fun, but extremely luck based, in reality I could send all my troops in a soviet mass assault type of way, and depending on the mood of the game I could win or loose, really there isn't a lot of room for strategy in this game, because even the best strategy can be absolutely destroyed by bad luck, which for me its almost every time. In short, this game is the most extreme form of gambling.
Dull, cheap fight mechanics, cheap mechanics all around it feels very clunky. There is no depth to game. Intercept send few guys kill few aliens come back type of game. I don't think i will play to 2 hours mark and probably gonna refund it. Bought it at 75% discount but i still don't see the light in the game to make it worth to buy even on 75% discount. One part of me says it was cheap so just keep it and force yourself to enjoy it. Other part of me says its a bait don't burn your few bucks on this game and just refund.
