Developed and published by Egosoft, X Rebirth is a bold reimagining of the long-running X franchise that blends an expansive space simulation with an accessible story-driven framework. Rather than simply refining the mechanics of its predecessors, the game introduces a fresh universe, redesigned gameplay systems, and a stronger narrative focus while maintaining the series' defining features of economic management, exploration, combat, and player freedom. It places players in a massive science fiction sandbox where every decision, whether commercial or military, contributes to shaping a living galaxy filled with countless opportunities. The game's most impressive accomplishment is its dynamic universe. Every region is populated with traders, miners, security forces, pirates, and industrial stations that operate as part of an interconnected economy. Goods are continuously produced, transported, bought, and consumed, creating a believable simulation where market conditions constantly evolve. Rather than relying on static resources, players are encouraged to study supply chains, identify profitable trade routes, and exploit shortages to build wealth. This economic depth gives every successful business venture a satisfying sense of progression and rewards careful planning over quick profits. Building an industrial empire becomes one of the game's most engaging long-term goals. Players can construct production facilities, expand manufacturing operations, and establish complex networks that supply entire sectors with valuable resources. Managing these stations requires balancing logistics, assigning personnel, securing materials, and protecting investments from hostile threats. Watching a small commercial operation gradually grow into a sprawling corporate empire is one of X Rebirth's strongest features, offering countless hours of strategic decision-making beyond simple buying and selling. Combat provides another layer of variety, featuring everything from agile dogfights against enemy fighters to large fleet battles involving enormous capital ships. Encounters are more tactical than arcade-like, as individual ship systems such as engines, shields, and weapon platforms can be targeted to disable opponents piece by piece. Players are free to pursue careers as mercenaries, military allies, pirates, or independent defenders, making combat an optional but rewarding path that complements the game's broader sandbox design instead of dominating it. Exploration plays an equally important role throughout the experience. The universe is filled with visually striking sectors containing massive stations, asteroid fields, colorful nebulae, hidden locations, and unexplored regions waiting to be discovered. Docking at stations allows players to leave their ship and interact directly with NPCs, recruit specialists, accept missions, and uncover new trading or combat opportunities. The improved travel systems reduce unnecessary downtime while preserving the impressive sense of scale that has always been a hallmark of the X series. Unlike earlier entries that relied almost entirely on open-ended gameplay, X Rebirth introduces a more structured campaign that guides players through the political and economic conflicts affecting the galaxy. The story serves as an introduction to the game's many mechanics without forcing players to remain on a predetermined path. Once familiar with the universe, players are free to ignore the main narrative and pursue their own ambitions, whether building a commercial empire, commanding fleets, exploring distant sectors, or influencing the balance of power between competing factions. Visually, the game delivers detailed environments that effectively capture the immense scale of futuristic space civilization. Gigantic industrial stations feel alive with constant traffic, while capital ships showcase intricate mechanical designs and impressive levels of detail. Dynamic lighting, atmospheric nebulae, and convincing visual effects create memorable scenery during both peaceful exploration and intense battles. The soundtrack complements these environments with orchestral and ambient compositions that reinforce the feeling of traveling through a vast and living galaxy. Although X Rebirth received criticism at launch for technical issues, interface problems, and controversial design changes, years of updates and improvements significantly transformed the experience. Numerous patches refined gameplay systems, improved stability, expanded content, and addressed many of the concerns raised by the community. While certain mechanics may still divide longtime fans of the franchise, the current version presents a far more polished and enjoyable experience that better reflects the developers' original vision. X Rebirth ultimately succeeds as a deep and rewarding space simulator for players willing to invest time learning its interconnected systems. Its blend of economic management, strategic station building, large-scale combat, exploration, and player-driven progression creates an experience that few other games attempt on such an ambitious scale. While the learning curve remains steep and patience is required to fully appreciate its mechanics, those who enjoy complex sandbox simulations will find an enormous amount of depth and replay value waiting beneath its surface. Rating: 5/10
Man rätselt allzu oft, wo man was finden soll. 4.
The 9.0 update sucks more than this
no
i like ths game alot many things you can do
Läuft nicht auf MacOS mit M1 Chip. Finger weg.
Not Recommended. This is the game that made me stop pre-ordering forever. This is made by the same team from the great X3 games. It wasn’t rushed by a new team or an outside publisher, it was just a massive unforced error. Ripping out what made X special and replaced it with broken trading/commands (XML save edits required), endless looping traffic-jam AI, tedious copy-pasted station walking with repetitive dialogue, annoying co-pilot and a worse UI. Unlike No Man’s Sky, X Rebirth's shonky release never got a redemption. Skip this one completely.
This game gets a lot of hate because it was more limited and not as deep than previous X Games but I really enjoyed it overall. I wish some of the mechanics like using a mine drone would have carried over to X4.
