I loved this jolly romp. Game got a lot of hate, but Rebirth was a daring attempt to do something new considering where games were going back in 2013. With the patches and dlc which Bernd and Co delivered in the face of what must have been overwhelming negativity, well done, they kept the faith with their vision. Lots of really good mods for the game but I switched to X4 to get down to the trading and empire building and was slightly disappointed the systems weren't included in X4. Yisha was a blast.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's like mix of Outerworlds and X4: Foundations
This game feels like an upgraded version of Freelancer... which is mostly what I actually want from Star Citizen, not including multiplayer. Walking around space bases feels like an awkward First person mode... as if I'm a hovering drone pretending to be a human, rather than a human. It's that real old style stuff. You can sprint, jump, and duck, but it's all that classic gaming feel to it, which, for what it is, is perfectly acceptable. It's kinda fun looking for stuff to loot, which is addressed by the main character asking his wacky co-pilot what her problem is. The "Small Talk" Mini game is poorly explained in game, on forums, and in most tutorials... but you want to look at the frequency signal and pick the darkest pink/purple bar when the audio bar moves. The more accurate you are, the more refined your responses.... but this doesn't promise success. What you choose to say can really annoy the person anyway... despite them being apparently open to such a thing in the first place. It's a neat feature, but it's implementation is so nonsensical and already getting repetitive 4 hours in. Boarding my Trade Freighter- a bit tricky, this was also poorly explained, but I figured it out eventually. It's hard to target docking nodes sometimes because you might be locked onto another target and you need to cycle out of combat targeting. The big problem comes when launching from my ship. For some reason, my ship is drifting upwards before I've even managed to sit down in my chair to pilot... and it can be catastrophic for my gaming experience... because I turn into an absurd physics pinball, bouncing back and forth in my ship, gaining momentum with each hit, no matter how I try to slow down.... until finally, the game can't take it anymore and my Albion Skunk is launched out of the Trade Freighter at a speed that exceeds anything I can normally achieve while spinning and jittering at a rate that's sure to inspire seizures. Trading is way improved from Freelancer, if you figure out how to read all the charts, how to work the deals, how to arrange trade deals from comm systems, and when to deliver the product yourself. It requires the player to be absolutely rational. This game is just under a decade old as the time of this review, but it's still got more accessible content than Star Citizen.
Garbage compared to the X3 games that came before it. Really awkward 'highways' .. I liked the jump gates better. Storyline and 'characters' are weak. Running around in stations is just.. awkward and embarassingly repetitive. You get on your 'empty trade vessel' that you have to 'hire' grouchy buggers for who have 1 line of complaining dialog. However, on the 'empty trader', there are piles of 'people' you can't interact with. So weird.
it was the worst of the series, nice graphics though
This was the worst purchase in my library.
I will never forgive Egosoft for this.
I recommend this game. It is different from the previous X games but on its own, wow, it is great. It takes a while to get used to the differences and finding your way around. The explanations on how things work are not always obvious but the sheer joy of capturing a capital ship that you spent an hour wearing down is worth it. 89 hours and I haven't even finished building my first station yet (work in progress) but exploring, capturing ships and running odd missions has kept me busy this whole time. I do recommend making use of some of the mods in the workshop just to help smooth some things out (Like Show Skills). But overall, the game is well refined at this point as is most Egosoft games after a year or two of continued patching and support.
