Wreckord Shop is a cartoon about three struggling musicians running a record shop in Brixton, South London. Riff, D.U.B and Vox spend most of their time getting into ridiculous situations, but what they really want is to make it big in music. One day, they start dreaming about becoming superstars, and somehow that dream turns into a video game. So here it is. Wreckord Shop: Superstar! Based on the independent British cartoon created by Esteban Castillo-Velez, Superstar! is a free rhythm game where you play as Riff, D.U.B and Vox, perform songs, build up your score and try to make it through their rather chaotic dream. HOW TO PLAY: It's pretty simple. Vinyl records come flying towards you, and you've got to tap them in time with the music. The better your timing, the more points you earn. Keep hitting the notes to build your streak, collect bonus points and unlock SUPERSTAR mode. There are also special challenges depending on who you're playing as. Riff gets to shred his guitar, Vox takes the microphone and D.U.B scratches records on the decks. STORY MODE AND FREE PLAY In Story Mode, you work your way through songs as the three characters chase their dream of becoming superstars. Of course, being Wreckord Shop, things don't exactly go to plan. The Roadmen turn up, start causing trouble and eventually you've got a whole boss battle to deal with. Expect spray paint, a bit of cartoon violence and plenty of nonsense. If you'd rather just play the music, there's Free Play, where you can choose a character, pick a song and try to beat your high score. MINI-GAMES: There's also a bunch of extra stuff to play around with when you fancy a break from the main game. You can punch the Roadmen, play electric guitar, mess about with the microphone, scratch records on the DJ decks, look through the artwork gallery or play sounds on the soundboard. THE MUSIC: One of the main reasons I wanted to make this game was to feature music from artists I know and support. There are tracks from Sunday Best, Greebo, Pushkick, billie-angela, soma, Coupdekat, Max Everest, Shady Ember and EVIL THWEK. It's a proper mixture of sounds, from rock and punk to pop, R&B, club music and drum & bass. All the musicians are credited in the game, so if you hear something you like, you can find out who made it. A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WRECKORD SHOP: Wreckord Shop started as an independently made cartoon about music, London life and three mates trying to get somewhere while everything around them goes wrong. The game takes those same characters, the scrappy hand-drawn artwork and the daft humour of the cartoon and turns the whole thing into something you can play on your iPhone. You don't need to have watched the cartoon to enjoy it, either. It's free, it's a bit chaotic, and hopefully you'll discover some good music along the way. Enjoy!
