If you watch the video and are expecting the gameplay to be the same you will be disappointed. There are features in the video and pictures that are not yet available in the game and it runs at about 24 fps if you choose to create a realistic world. The game may continue to improve but I would not suggest purchasing it at this time.
I have some mixed feedback, being a game developer myself this is for me nothing but a map editor and I do not see the goal of it other than something that resembles work :P But I cannot give any bad review as I guess this would be fun for most people, it works and it should be fun. The only issue I can think of so far is the tutorial, not getting into detail... However, if this was a TOOL with the ability to export, it would really be something.

This is a great idea. A World Builder. It's still buggy at the moment though. The controls are not easy to use and my computer system keeps on crashing using it at this time - GTX 980, 6700mhz processor, 32gb RAM. I'm using the latest Nvidia 378.92 drivers. Also tried it with previous drivers and it still crashes at seemingly random times. I could not actually get the tutorial to work. There were some instructions from the floating robot at the beginning however when the world started to begin creation there were no instructions on how to proceed. Could not figure out how to make myself huge by holding down the trigger buttons and swipe outwards. I saw that the field of view was reduced doing this but nothing changed in the world view. I decided to just play around with it at this point. Still could not figure out how to spawn things so I just kept on clicking in the menu and found I could actually rez objects without actually knowing how they rezzed. Seems like at the moment you need to keep on clicking and hold down for it to work. I still can't figure it out at the moment regarding the controls. Looks very similar to Tilt Brush and how they have done it. If it can work like Tilt Brush this will be a winner. I managed to rez a building, grass, water, some trees, change the sky environment, add some rain, then an old boat and I was really happy at this point then it crashed. I needed to restart Steam and all the stuff I was adding was gone. I was very sad at this point. I know it's only about 30 mins of work but I created it and and it was lost forever. This is truly an excellent idea for anyone to create worlds within their own imagination. OMG I'm going back to "Second Life" where the ability to do this started and this looks like the perfect solution in VR. Making it easy for anyone without technical skills opens up a whole new dimension. I'm not sure on the engine used, images in world have that outer outline causing a strobing, flashing effect outlining objects in scene. It is definitely a cool new project and with it's bugs during testing I'm still giving this 10/10 for imagination.
While still in early access, the dev is driven to bring an even better experience through future patches/content updates. This guy has been hard at work making World Builder for many months and will continue to improve upon it. Here's my review; Guruji VR's World Builder is a creator's sandbox. World Builder is perfect for those that have a scene or setting in mind. Like me, maybe you have a fantasy world in mind that you want to experience in VR. I'm writing a sci-fi/fantasy story and this is the perfect tool to visualize my worlds, environments and moods! Creating random worlds is fun with simple controls that once used a couple times, feel intuitive and easy to reuse for general functions; Scaling the Player for example is as easy as holding your grips and pulling your hands away from each other. You can adjust everything in your environment, from weather to terrain height and water level. It's clearly an early access game as there is room for improvement, but I cant wait to see what's to come in being able to create truely unique worlds. + pros; different styles of worlds, (cartoony, low poly, realistic) tutorial that introduces everything you need to know to bring your world to life large variety of terrain options and props no lag/fps problems on my gt72 laptop - cons; no music (play your own) only terrain/props, no characters bugs in early access (This review is coming from the game developer's brother - one who has seen this project from its earliest stages. Guruji Vr has poured countless hours and energy into this project and will continue to see World Builder grow.)
World builder is a neat little chill-out game that allows the player to do exactly what the title says, build a world. It's got great customization options, and a robust tool set to allow you to accomplish the world building goal. I was able to build a pretty detailed forest-scape with a cave and a cabin, and then set the sun and kicked up the wind and the rain and just chilled on the porch of my new forest house in the middle of a storm on the edge of a mountain, in about 15 minutes. There are voice commands for lots of functions that would otherwise require you to go through the complex menu system, which can be hard to navigate at times, so that's a pretty big plus. While I can see how awesome it is to build these little worlds and just chill out, there doesn't seem to be anything else to do. Once the world is built, you realize you're all alone in it, and nothing you can do will change that. This game is screaming for multiplayer, which it currently lacks. Overall I had a pretty consistent 89-92FPS, but I did notice some bugs with various features that caused heavy performance hits, including one instance of a prolonged 2 FPS which caused instantaneous motion sickness and made me rip the headset off. Overall, I'd recommend this game as a neat little experience to relieve some stress after a long day. Throw on the HMD, boot this up, and in 15 minutes you've created a new world to chill out in. Pros: One of a kind experience. Never seen anything like this before. Voice activated commands! Weather effects take this to the next level. Three creation mode types. Graphics settings options are deep and meaningful, game is highly customizable. Cons: Performance can be shaky at default settings with a GTX1070/16Gb/i5-4400@3.2ghz Menu structure is not clearly laid out. Some menu options did not function on the build I tested. Text is hard to read at SS 1.0-1.5. Really only saw a clear difference at 1.6, which is abnormal. Zoom is hard to control and unclear. No undo/delete option. No multiplayer Nothing to do once the world is built.
This is is pretty cool for the artistic type, or those that just want to make a place of their own to sit and relax. The tutorial takes about 10 minutes and gives a good foundation for the app. There are still some bugs, but it's early access so that is to be expected. I even enjoyed playing this with my 4yr old where she could see the TV screen and I was in VR and she would tell me what to do and I would build the world for her. Afterwards I put her in VR and she thought the world we built was pretty cool. A basic level building goes like this: -You can use basic vertex modeling tools to push and pull the land into the shape you want. -You paint the ground with the textures you want(lava, snow, rock, grass...) -You add water and adjust the level of the water. -You change time of day, water level, wind, sun color, snow, rain etc. -You start adding props like walkways, trees, bushes, houses, rocks. -Adjust placement of props with size rotation variations. -Go back to the top and repeat until you have a world you like. My only complaint at this point is the Props that are given all fit 1 theme. If you pick the "realistic" planet, I hope you plan on making a cast away island feel because all the props fit that theme. The "Low poly" planets props feel like a cabin in the woods feel. I hope we get the ability to add our own props(possibly from unity, sketchfab, etc) There are some features shown in the trailer video that are not implemented yet. I shows painting the ground with grass. I dont think that feature is in the game yet as I could not find that feature. I was hoping to make a jungle/forest or a grassy plain as shown in the video but I would have to place each individual grass by hand instead of painting the land. I do recommend this game as you can easily get a few hours in the game without even thinking about it. I just got the game and already have 2 hrs in and my daughter has alreay planned on us making a cave world tomorrow.
This has great potential. For me as non artist (both hands left :D ) was very easy to create beautiful landscapes. Trust me I was never able to create anything like this before. In World builder, it is really easy. There are tons of models you can use to create world you like. (I was practically unable to draw anything for example in Tilt Brush, everything I tried to draw in TB was ugly and horrible :D ). If you like to create nice and calming landscapes, this is app for you. It has some flaws (controls sometimes stuck), but game, or better world creator is in EA state yet. I will update this review later on.
Very good overall! Great and helpful tutorial; mostly intuitive controls. Lots of fun to instantaly morph the landscape. And I loved the light/weather stuff, tons of . Really awesome possibilities. Negatives- biggest one for me is the lack of a scale indicator. There needs to be a constant reference to scale. As it is now, houses will be huuuuge, like comically big, compared to some trees I spawned earlier. That's not intuitive and right now makes creating scenes too clumsy and frustrating to fuss with, but I assumet that will be soon corrected. And somebody with more patience could probably make it work as it is now. A bit too much use of the grip buttons, but that's a very subjective thing.. I'll keep coming back to this because there is a ton of potential, and it's already a very cool, easy-to-use world creation app in v.
Suck game even tho you lunch it thru steam it says restart the Plugged Vive while you Playing without Vr Mode FIX this problem!
This game is exactly what I was looking for and the developer is very involved in making it better. Not only did he reply to a thread in Reddit to discuss when it would be released as well as what it would cost, but he replied to a review of his product within 24hrs with a minor update to solve the scale issue. If you are looking for a world building sandbox to play in, I think this is your game! If you are wary about testing out an early access game, this one is already well worth the price and can only get better from here. It isn't 100% polished yet, but there are few things that leap out at you while you're playing it, and nothing that I consider damaging to your ability to play!
