word hunt fever is one of many word games to come out in 2021, but I bet it's the only one that opens with a guitar track. definitely my kinda greeting. so you get a board with a random list of words to find in any direction, more and longer as levels increase, but adjacent letters can also be switched around. finding a word grants an extra move and some points, selecting a word not on the list doesn't do any harm, but switching letters uses a move if you don't select a word right after and follow it with another switch instead. be on the lookout for words already found, as selecting them again gives an extra move just like the first time. running out of moves ends the game (as in, making one that doesn't select a listed word after the counter reaches zero), but shuffling is an option. you start with a few and get one every two levels, then every level beyond level 11. a more apt term would be re-roll, as that's what it does, so if the board suffers from a shortage of vowels (and it tends to), shuffling will probably help. english, portuguese and spanish languages are available (with some awkwardness on the english help screen), the game saves automatically after every level, and mid-level progress is saved when you quit. there's also a manual save option and multiple save slots, though they don't mention any info about progress and whatnot. completing the game means finishing level 49, and you can find some competition on the leaderboard if you want. controls are a bit weird. hold left click to switch letters (no visual indicator here for some reason), and either double click the first and last letters or hold the right mouse button to select a word. I think single left clicks would suffice, but there's an option to switch mouse buttons, making it harder to accidentally waste a move on a switch instead of selecting a word. graphics are functional, there are many nice background images, or you can import your own. windowed mode also available with a resizable window, and the timer can be turned off, but bonus score calculation at the end of higher levels takes way too long. audio is a fine, various song styles and you can filter only calm tracks or import custom music. by default the same track repeats until the level is complete or a new game starts, but there's a skip track button. separate volume settings for music and effects, but the effects and voiced announcements are still audible even if sound is turned completely down. when I first played the game, it was in a really sorry state, but based on feedback the developer fixed and added things before release, so it's recommendable now. doesn't do anything special, but word hunters should get some enjoyment out of it, especially for such a low price.
At first glance, this seems a simple little game. However, it has more depth to it than I thought. It gets progressively harder with each level and keeps you thinking. I thought at first I would have to refund as it glitched and froze after first level. A restart fixed that and it works gloriously now. I fully recommend this game for word puzzle lovers everywhere. I know I only have 46 minutes into game, but I know a gem when I see one.
Word Hunt Fever is a creative mixture between different puzzle games. You have a checklist filled with words that you need to find, which is a lot harder than it sounds. Finding a word rewards you with extra moves, and with those moves you can swap letters around on the board to create a word that you need. You can also gain Shuffles which you can use when you are stuck, to get a new board filled with letters. The goal is to set a perfect highscore to become number one on the global leaderboard. There is a level timer, but you can take as long as you want and need, which makes it a very relaxing experience. If you don't feel like playing anymore you can just quit and the game saves your progression so you can always get back to it later. In all honesty, I didn't think it would be this addictive! However, I would love to see a dark mode option, because the board is very bright and after playing for a while the letters became harder for me to see. Overall, it's a great puzzle game with a creative twist that I haven't seen before. I did receive the game for free, but this had no influence on my decision to recommend it.
I have really enjoyed this game. Ideal for those short gaming moments while waiting for something else. Due to the automatic saving between levels you can resume your progress at any time in search of the highest score or even to finish the game. Although simple and unpretentious, the game also allows you to challenge yourself using some strategies - I found that it allows you to find a word more than once and rewards you with multiplied score. Other reviews manage to describe how the game works very well, so I won't repeat what is said in them. I highly recommend the game, because the price is quite low.
A simple and addictive game. The mechanics might seem a bit confusing at first, but you can learn quickly. With the right mouse button, you can swap a letter with the one next to it, and with the left button, you select the word you’ve found. The game feels like it was made with a lot of care by the developer, the letter movements and animations are really well done. All in all, it’s a great word search game. I recommend it!
the game crashed a few times but it is still a great game and an enjoyable challenge.
I ran the game today and tried to continue from my previous save (I was at Level 8). Game kept crashing after completing a couple of words. I verified the integrity of game files, reinstalled the game, and even tried starting the game anew thinking it might be a problem with the save file. But the problem persists. Very disappointed.
I recommend for sure!! Initially I bought the game because I like hunting words casually. But I didn't think the game would be so enjoyable and addictive. I don't think it's a game that's spent many hours in a row, but I found myself going back to it from time to time, among other plays.
Amazing mash-up between match-3 games and word hunt! It's as fun and challenging as can get it! Reccomended!
