Dont waste your money on this. For the record, I only have 2 hours of play time, not 19. Good concept-extremely poor delivery My wife is 100 percent korean and also speaks korean and she says there are a lot of things in this game that are mispronounced and just completely incorrect. I know about 95 percent of hangul prior to purchasing this game.. Sweet, so I can skip the entry level stage which is hangul. The game was literally throwing full on sentences at me and after the 5th sentence (not counting the phrases i already knew which was hello and thank you) i felt completely overwhelmed. Within 20 minutes i started to get the feeling that you have to spend time on your own to practice the phrases it teaches you which is the exact opposite of a language learning game... Okay, so maybe I should start at the basics and go from there. I started another game after 30 minutes of being disappointed. The first 2 characters it teaches you, it mispronounces the second one which is suppose to be aw, but they pronounce it like wa. Additionally, the description for it is completely incorrect. They say its pronounced like "uh". There should have been more of a vetting process for how learning the language was going to be achieved. Advice to Devs. Look at Learn Japanese to Survive - Hirgana, Katakana, Kanji. Those devs did everything correctly.

I started learning Korean because I’m obsessed with K-dramas and K-pop, and I hate always having to read subtitles. A friend told me to try WonderLang Korean and I didn’t expect much, but it’s actually really fun. It’s an RPG where you have to use Korean to do things like buy food, talk to people, or even fight enemies. It makes me feel like I’m actually practicing the language in situations instead of just memorizing words from a list, or random sentences. What I really like is that it teaches phrases I could actually use in real life, and it never feels like boring homework. If I had to ask for changes, I’d love more mini-games that are just to relax (no learning/testing), and more voice-only exercises to practice hearing comprehension. Now I’m throwing random Korean words at my friends and they have no idea what I’m saying, which is kind of the best part.

Runs perfectly on the Deck, which is awesome because I just play it in bed to grind out some vocab before going to sleep. It has a built in visual / touch keyboard, which is great for Steam Deck. I already knew the alphabet going in, so being able to just skip the Hangul tutorial and get right into the spaced repetition battles was a huge plus. The virtual keyboard takes a second to get used to, but mapping characters directly to the buttons actually feels really satisfying once it clicks. Sometimes the combat encounters drag on a bit if you set the multiplier too high, but you can easily tweak the settings to fix it. It plays like a solid retro RPG that just happens to be sneaking Korean grammar into your brain. Characters are fun, and situations mostly give you useful vocabulary to learn. There are also a lot of options to do various review sessions, so that's great if you are a slow learner like me

I’m honestly happy I found WonderLang Korean. I’ve tried so many apps and I always gave up after a week because it got boring. This game is different. It actually feels like playing a real RPG, with quests and battles, but at the same time I’m learning new words and grammar without even noticing. I like Pokemon and Persona games, so it feels like that but much simplier of course. it is a small indie game, it actually feels like undertale and stardew valley in the simplicity of the presentation. The best part is it keeps me motivated. Every time I start the game, I want to see what happens next in the quest or try out the puzzles. It doesn’t feel like homework at all, which makes it way easier to stick with. It’s not perfect, some stuff could be better, but ut works for me. it’s seriously the first tool that makes me want to practice Korean every day.

This game has great music and sound effects. It gently introduces the user to new vocabulary and reinforces it. The quests are definitely a great way to learn even MORE vocab and they are fun. It's really relaxing to play.

It's like an old school rpg, but with a story centered on language learning.

good game to learn korean but when u do words to open the chests it wont work so heads up. over all good game to learn korean

Its ui is clunky, its not beginner friendly which i thought was the entire point of the game. its explainations are great and cant even get passed "ah" because it doesn't show the lets for the h sound and when you click on the letters it who make the sounds as a help even though i am assuming was the whole point of the button that says hear sounds or whatever. i had had this in my wishlist for a long time and i am so disappointed.

Great game from what I've been able to play! A recommendation would be to include on that word can have more meanings then what is provided in the game.
