Wolf Balls

Wolf Balls:The Game (WB:TG) is indeed an interesting game concept; an entertaining blend of the old and the new that should appeal to SOME gamers very much (both pinball players and those with little or no experience with the KING of rolling ball games.) To simplify, the WB:TG “Wolf” essentially acts as an auxiliary flipper, able to move anywhere on the playfield; perhaps not quickly, but with some added features to give the player several specific advantages lacking in actual pinball (computer or IRL.) Will pinball players recognize WB:TG as pinball? Well…..no, not really. But it seems that was never the developer’s intention, and it’s a game with merit on its own and should not be ignored, especially by pinball completionists. What WB:TG offers AS pinball is a limited, yet powerful (and even enhanced), control over each ball. For example: Want to send the ball to a near-inaccessible area of the table? Playing as Wolf, grab the ball, then either travel there with (time limited) ball in hand, or launch the ball there from an easier shot placement. Want to see more of the table, perhaps to find a hiding ball? Jump W-A-A-Y up in the air (or sometimes simply change camera view by pressing a button.) Need some quick and easy points? Run over some sheep (BLAM! You are a wolf, right?) or run up the BIG PAYOFF ramp before launching the ball. Ball hung up? GO GET IT! Want to knock down some drop targets? Grab the ball and SMACK those suckas DOWN! Oh, so the drop targets are on rooftops? Grab the ball and LEAP before launching the ball. All these being features that add a very new dimension to WB:TG that can go beyond simply “approximating” pinball. And the BOSS features offered on all four tables? With kind permission, those unanswered questions (still mysterious to this player), will also remain a mystery to those reading this review……until they receive their own more thorough and satisfying answers. WB:TG currently has four playfields, perhaps best called “tables” for the sake of familiarity (although two of them involving The Village are similar layouts with significant scoring and feature differences.) All indications are that more tables will be added over time, and likely based on the success of the game. All current tables have supernatural, scary themes. (Duh….WEREWOLF?!) Although this reviewer hasn’t played far and still has much to explore (and experience), there is very much a feel of being ON a pinball table, and in the midst of a pinball-like game. Scoring a minimum of points (10,000, easy enough after perhaps one game worth of practice) opens a portal that allows access to the other three tables. This player would like to take a moment to salute those WB:TG players previously able to succeed and progress WITHOUT access to a controller. Though making a serious attempt, the contortions involved with using a keyboard for ALL movement and control proved just too daunting a task for this gamer with left hand impairment. But amazingly, the request for controller access (previously delayed for six weeks) was successfully responded to almost overnight! And the difference in the game is basically comparable to that of day and (full moon lit) night. Repeating the words of the developer, I’d also like to thank the computer gods! Anyhow….. Who will play Wolf Balls:The Game? Certainly, this player has played and enjoyed the game, but I don’t see myself playing with the same commitment I feel toward my very favorite games (which are mostly pinball.) Perhaps dealing with the BOSSes will add new dimensions to the game that will cause me to be enthralled to a greater level. (And it’s quite likely that with time, I will update this review to reflect that enhanced passion.) In all fairness, this is a new game, still awaiting player input and suggestions, and all indications are that the developer welcomes those ideas and will even build on them. But without doubt, I WILL be keeping Wolf Balls:The Game, and playing it, if only to see what I’ve missed, and how it has grown. And because it really is fun, if primarily in smaller doses (which is certainly one opinion only.) This sort of creative, original game is exactly the reason for this reviewer’s personal commitment to, and support of indie developers, and I feel a sense of gratitude and wonder every time such a game emerges. And PLEASE remember the developer’s words of wisdom: “Having Wolf Balls on Steam is different than having wolf balls in real life.” Thank you.

I'm not actually a pinball fan but the description of the game was so unique I thought I had to give the game a try. About an hour later my 7 year old, 11 year old, and I are all sitting in front of the computer taking turns being a wolf who can "force hold" a pinball and run around. Forget the flippers, it's all about the wolf. We've done 3 different levels and each one has challenges. Graveyard is so dark at first I thought it would be unplayable, until my 7 year old got the high score on that level. The game seems so simple but as you learn to control the ball better it keeps its challenges.

Well the game wasn't lying. You play as a wolf, there's lots of balls, and it's a game. Splendid

A strange experience; like being a goalie of pinball. You can go out and chase the ball like a puppy, or use magic ball control powers to grab and fling the ball wildly, But is quite the challenge to control the flippers at the same time. #ilovewolfballs indeed! As a pinball fan I loved this. I liked being able to run around the table and grab the ball by the short and curlies and force it to do what I want and slap it silly if it still wont play.......pinball! Considering the cheap price of this title they have done a great job. It has 4 tables/levels, so that's only $1.25 per table. Some are hard and some are easy so it depends on your play style. The graphics are nice and there is some fun things thrown in to make play entertaining, like the sheep's revenge seen in my video. Life Changing

This Game is a good time. It has Balls...... and wolfs. I like the mix of pinball and werewolfs. The game has a great sense humor. It reminds alittle of Goat Simulator. That is a good thing. I'm looking forward for the gamepad update. This game is well worth the price of admission. I say pick it up and enjoy. If This game ever got the chance to have a physical copy made, I would pick it up. So if you like werewolfs and pinball games and evere wished they would have a baby.
