Wizard Street
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
So I was not interested in this game and wouldn't have bought it for myself. However, I was offered this game for free as part of the Steam Curator program. I thought I might as well take a chance and then give my review ... yeah, that was a mistake. This game is bad. You could tell from the store page video. You can stop reading. But if you want to then continue reading and I'll tell you more about it's overall suckiness. So this is a stand still 180 wave shooter with 1 type of enemy and really only one type of attack. Technically, there's more because there's a defense spell and you have a 10% random chance of a rare spell according to the store page. I have no idea what that means after about 15-20 minutes of gameplay. I did notice different colored spells at random sometimes so maybe that's it *shrug* So it's dark and you're shooting at a dark ball animation coming towards you. So test your vision before playing for sure. You can just shoot a lot with the wand, but if you do that then your frame rate wll drop. Wow, who knew that could be a game mechanic to prevent you from spamming spells? Very innovative mechanic! It's not all bad. The good is that there is a nice looking environment. I mean it's not great, but it's better than average as far as VR games go. Your wand looks okay. The music is also okay. Animations look cool sort of. The spell book glowing animation looks nice, except you can't open it. You can't make new spells. I mean, wouldn't it have been cool to have to gesture-based attack some alternate spells & use them strategically? But nope, none of that is here! Just simple point and shoot and hope to get the twisting dark ball of whatever, for as long as possible. Now get all those achievements! Rate 3/10. Should be F2P as a demo for a student showing a proof of concept.

6600K OC'ed to 4.3 16 GB Ram GTX 1080 OG Vive Tpcast SS 1.9 Video Gameplay: https://youtu.be/EoAWQXmudyg Looks good and the fly in at the start gives you the feeling that you are a wizard or witch coming in to defend against the dark souls. Unfortunately, then it's just a wave shooter with the dark souls coming at you from the front and above and you're chasing a high score. It's ok for a stand-in place wand shooter but it is repetitive and honestly should be under a dollar or bought in a bundle. It's what I'm calling Vrundle Filler that's VR bundle filler, don't pay $10 for it.
Played On: HTC Vive
Wizard Street is a 180 degree wave-based shooter. There's very little to say about this game, other than you stand in place and shoot "magic spells" at Lost type smoke monsters called Dark Souls. There's only one landscape, a dark part of what looks to be a London type street. The spells do come in a variety of color, but it's all random and generally you'll only see the golden spell color. Unlike other mage-type games, you don't get to draw the spell that you want to cast; you just point and pull the trigger. The biggest deal breaker in Wizard Street is just how obnoxiously large your hitbox is. The enemies seemed to be a good foot or two away from me, yet they were still able to end my run from that distance. This is the type of game where after one hit, your run is over. The price of $11.49 CAD is absolutely absurd for such poor and limited gameplay. It only took about 8 minutes until I was bored enough to call it quits. What you see in the trailer is all that you get. Not recommended even on sale, it's pointless filler. I love the concept of the game, there aren't alot of harry potter like VR games so I was excited to try this one. After playing it for about 10 minutes I was pritty dissapointed. The game completely lacks content, the only thing you do is use the same spell (press trigger) over and over again to shoot the same monster over and over again until you die and repeat it all. This doesn't mean though that the game has no potential, if the developers add a story mode, unlockable spells, wands, new maps it can actually be a pritty interesting game. The graphics look fine and the spell from the wand looks quite cool. Even though the game has potential I would definitely wait with buying this one, as it's just not worth €8, I'd say closer to €1 / €2 in it's current state. (Maybe not even worth any money as of right now) EDIT: After checking the Unity asset store I found out that this game is actually completely an asset flip.
Auch nicht für Harry Potter Fans... technically for a proof of concept not bad. but shoot black smoke during the night with particle heavy fireballs that make you see even less?!?! the dev definitely not the greatest design genius. got my achievements letters and wont touch this thing ever again. But pls for the sake of everyone after me: lower the required kills for the achievements. after 15 min its just painful
