A bittersweet conclusion to Vinty’s adventures.
TW: death mention
Game’s premise:
Our dear Vinty is still perpetually motivated towards one day becoming a famous calligrapher! One fine morning, while checking her e-mail, her confidence receives a noticeable boost. How come, you might ask? While being such a poor girl, struggling to pay for rent and living within her delusional fantasies in order to not give in her precious dream due to the bitter reality, what is that makes Vinty keep being so motivated? But of course having won a local calligraphy contest rewarding her with a $3 voucher prize! While heading outside to redeem the received sum, she suddenly gets a suspicious e-mail from an unknown sender…
It’s time for a ghost story:
The message mentions an unresolved question being currently trendy on Twitter; the mystery behind the ghost calligrapher sighted in Singapore. It is said that the ghost of a potentially skillful calligrapher from past has been located at different areas of Singapore, and, to add more enthusiasm to the game, at the stated places were left quality calligraphies that piqued the public’s attention. This way, even the most famous of calligraphers ended up being put aside, unable to stand up to such artistry. As the received e-mail invites Vinty to uncover the truth behind Kiki’s (so was named the late calligrapher) ghost’s phenomenon, the heroine ends up pondering whether it is simply some prank other calligraphers decided to pull at her or a new challenge to take upon. After noticing a flight ticket with destination to nowhere else but Singapore, that went attached to the e-mail, she decides to do a few researches online. While taking a call directly to the flight company to confirm the ticket’s authenticity, and sharing her personal information, Vinty receives a confirmation via phone that the flight is scheduled for Saturday of the same week at 2PM. Excitedly, Vinty takes up the occasion to go to another trip!
Off to Singapore for a new adventure:
After a safe landing, Vinty arrives to Changi Airport. Not being entirely sure about whom expect to be awaiting her once at the destination, she decides to follow the crowd, until she hears a familiar voice calling up to her… Just as during her past adventure back in Melbourne, this time Vinty ends up observing the differences characterizing Singapore. The first detail to capture her attention, is once again, the colour palette of public transports – such as taxicabs. This time they do feature more variations, unlike in Melbourne. You decide to take this occasion both to explore the newly visited place and to put an end to the recent ghost-related rumours stealing every talented calligrapher’s spotlight. Together with your companion, comrade and a dear acquaintance you are moving onto an unforgettable experience that will make you realize the preciousness of such a shared bond, as well as, discovering Kiki’s secrets that still happen to bind her to Singapore.
Featurings:
This is a Kinetic Novel, therefore the game does not display any choices during its playthrough. While this title displays plenty of humour and occasional puns as in the previous games featuring Vinty’s adventures, this time you will come upon a dramatic, even tear-jerking story of a late girl named Kiki. You will have the occasion to dive into her past, empathize with her cherished ones and discover the secrets behind her private life. Here we will get once again the option of clicking on “video” buttons, that will be linked to short YouTube videos displaying in real life the places shown during game, just as we experienced in Without Within 2 title. A vast amount of CGs will be shown, and while some do repeat occasionally while similar scenes get displayed, the experience will result very entertaining. Even more, counting all the featured background art to display properly all the newly met places visited by Vinty. Occasional sound effects are presented during gameplay, such as the rain noises, accompanied mainly by casual BGM, at times getting hasty during moments of rush.
Overall:
Recommended if looking for a laid-back experience, featuring emotional themes and portraying particularly the inner selves of Vinty and friends that did not get openly displayed in the previous titles. Also suggested if you enjoyed the first two Without Within games. 比起来前两作cg和剧情上有所进步,作者用两个小时的时间讲了一个比较感人的故事。不过我依然认为价格偏高,建议等打折入。。
Please don't ever give chocolate to dogs or cats! It's poisonous for them and can kill them! If you want to treat them, get treats for them or give them meat without spice, carotts or apple (the last two for dogs only) - they'll love you for it :3

Without Within 3 (初衷) is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book was slapped together with the godawfully bad RenPy Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit, so just like no professional writing took place here, no professional game development took place either, it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit. This is a particularly bad anime club dropout fanfiction about the authors imaginary girlfriend/waifu who goes to Singapore and Malaysia (couldn't pick one, didn't know the difference? Who knows... it's likely the "author"s understanding of geography is on par with their ability to write acceptable literature... none). Almost nobody could stomach reading this garbage (less than 1/4 of gamers made it past the first few pages of verbal garbage before uninstalling according to the achievements), so it's hard to say really what happens in this trash E-book. If a tree falls in the forest and nobody cared, etc. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Without Within 3 (初衷) has the greedy, cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "DOOM", "The Forest" or "Left 4 Dead 2". You can get better quality books and comics for free online or from public libraries, or from bookstores for a fraction of the price of this "game". Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.
Kiki's story outweighed everything else that Without Within 3 had to offer, including some mistakes and reuse of artwork that was in previous parts of novel [strike]work smart, not hard, I get it[/strike]. Recommended solely because of it, since found myself asking "when does it end" for everything that was before it. Could've been more fun, considering it's a ghosthunt. Instead of that, main story is plagued with descriptions of the places that barely translates into how it appears to characters, so makes me even question why bother with doing those. Some of the places looked very interesting, but to see it, you actually have to click on link to video on YT, because novel's backgrounds kind of suck. While characters look cute with that art style, sadly backgrounds appear more like paint doodles that a child would do. Sure, this way backgrounds don't distract you from character sprites, but when art doesn't help you describe the places that for some reason you spend time trying to describe and words don't really tell much (got multiple places with only character interaction with the place "Vinty starts taking pictures of the place with her phone"), it feels like a chore having to read those. As long as you're able to get to Kiki's story, it should be worth it.
mesma pegada dos anteriores , muito bom pra pegar conquistas , recomendo.
Emm, in the third game, the protagonist is still our calligraphy girl. This time she set off for Singapore and Malaysia. This time she went to see two predecessors in calligraphy. One of them has died and has become a ghost. To be honest, I still think the plot of the game is as bland as ever. But the plot of this time is a little better than the composition of primary school students. Although I feel sleepy when I read the story, but considering the improvement of one millimeter than before, I decide to give a good review to encourage developers. However, I want to tell you the truth, this series of games from the first to the third has always made me very bored. Although the painting style is OK, but for me, only the most profound story can move me and touch my soul. Obviously, this game can't do it. I will not violate my own principle and forcibly myself follow others. Although many people have praised it, but I still hold the opposite view. After all, it's not a free game. I can't give it extra points for nothing. Finally, thank the developers for them hard work. -------------------------------------------------- Manual achievement: 5/5
