About
Witchfire is a single-player RPG shooter from the creative minds behind Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Embark on perilous expeditions, vanquishing foes to enhance your powers and arsenal. Scavenge valuable resources and retreat to your sanctuary, or push your luck by confronting Familiars— the powerful guardians of the witch.

Skill and knowledge are essential for success against the Witch of the Black Sea and her witchfire-fueled army. If you die, return to the battlefield for a one-time chance to reclaim what you lost, or attack again with a new plan.

Explore vast, immersive biomes and choose your battleground to confront the witch's forces. Each completed encounter strengthens you and your arsenal through the roguelite system called Arcana. There are countless ways to build your preyer and dominate the witch.

Only the most wicked sinners are transformed into preyers, undead assassins sustained by witchfire flowing through their veins. In the base of operations known as the Hermitory, you can choose from a wide selection of distinctive weapons, spells, and artifacts to build your own preyer.

On each expedition, you can extract your looted items or, if you feel confident, confront the witch’s Familiar to unlock new areas and powerful items and upgrades.

Piece together a story from the past to save the future. Investigate ships crashing on the verge of the witch’s land and locate the artifact that can tip the scales in the ongoing war between the Church and the witches.

During the Early Access period, Witchfire will undergo changes, including new areas, enemies, weapons, and tools of destruction. Help us shape the game to reach its full potential!

This is an easy recommend. I waited a long time because I didn't know how to think about this game. Roguelite/Extraction FPS is a tricky niche. But I don't think that captures what this game is. The vibe is superb. The gameplay is great. The guns! Oh my god, the guns! I've never seen this much creativity. They're each more interesting and worthwhile than even the weapons in my favorite game, Bloodborne! It's a WIP, but it's cheap and it's amazing. Play it.
Hell yes
Grand oui
Cool Souls-like shooter
very good game
Oui.
This is an absolutely run of the mill, totally average FPS with a few inventive twists, that is then let down by some abysmal game mechanics. It's also exceedingly hard and unless you really enjoy dying all the time, and I do mean all the time, then I'd look for something a lot less frustrating. The game has a terrible habit of just throwing everything at you, cataclysms, portals, boss. Just everything it has in its bag all in one go. This, I assume, was believed to be an exciting mechanism to bring enjoyment and pleasure in a game. The same kind of pleasure you'd get performing a colonoscopy on yourself with splintered balsa wood. I mean a floating galleon with three tiny little ghost skulls you have to shoot. A ghost galleon that normally spawns across the other side of the map and then spends it's entire time behind buildings, trees, mountains, etc. Basically anything that mean you can't get your 1 point of damage per shot in on those teensey, tiny, little bullet sponge skulls. And it spawns with boringly predictable frequency. Even when you are underground. And to top it off these moment also bring the 'madness' which is basically the laziest way possible for a dev to bring excitement! joy! fun! into a game loop. You can have fun with this game, when it is being sensible and not just a stream of devs mind diarrhea. So it can be fun. Sometimes. Buy it if you like bulllet sponges, absolute frustration, no real feeling of reward for progress. Oh and the idea of shooting lots of enemies that spend their entire time trying to crawl up your nostrils they're that close. Or just use the health mod on nexus and actually get chance to enjoy what the developers made. Until that frickin galleon turns up anyway. Just Alt F4 at that point and try again later.
