I will go more in depth below but the tl;dr is that its a short and sweet game that uses its simple gameplay loop well. the story is left to you to understand and make since of, so much in fact that aside from the tutorial you can theoretically play without looking deeply within anything at all. overall I feel firmly that it is a 7/10 because it is a wonderful concept and good execution but its very quick. more in depth below beware of spoilers
along with the idea that you are the mouse A.K.A the spirit, the game does a great job of making the forest feel real despite the graphical style. this is either fully planned or just skeptical on my end: in order to move you have to move the cursor around the edges to progress through the map but the distance to the edge of the screen needed to move the viewpoint is very short and it lends to the idea of simply walking through an actual forest because there are always obstacles you run into if you do not slow down and tread carefully through it. there is no real guide in the game or a map window it is all based on your own sense of direction to get to where you need to go.

the spirits are interesting due to the fact that they are not predictable in their needs or their location. they can move around but from what i found they dont leave their own spawning areas. one day they are sick another day they are hungry and the day after that they may be disturbed so trying to plan ahead and leaving the same items around them doesnt mean they will need those items the next day. their stories are simply put as small tragedies leading them to be trapped in the forest.

Effort is needed to help and grow. this is what I believe the point of the story is. it takes effort to bring medicine to a spirit that is completely opposite of where you can get the medicine. it takes effort repair a ruin when you have to drop your item to go back and find the rune to fix it. it takes effort to reach people who need the help. you cant bring the spirits to the forest heart so you can manage each of their needs in a quick fashion . you have to make the conscious decision to go to them find out their needs, leave to retrieve the thing they need, and come back to give it to them and repeat this for each of them.
at the time of writing i have not 100% the game but i will and i look forward to doing it
this game is pretty cool. the mechanics felt a bit weird at first given the fact that you don't use WASD to move but rather your mouse. but after around 15-20 minutes i got used to it. aside from that, the game itself plays to your own will because no quests are given and no directions to find certain areas are shown, its purely driven by your own exploration. this means that you have to do a lot of digging around to find pathways and avoid dying to hexes, rushing water, quicksand, or thorns. this game was a short but very enjoyable experience and i do recommend you buy this cause i imagine you'll like it too.
A game where you play a forest spirit, healing the wilderness that has been cursed by the witch. You create paths, carry supplies to creatures, and rebuild buildings that then function as fast travel points. However, and this has been brought up by a few other reviews, the controls for this game are awful, especially if, like me, you suffer from any kind of joint issues. I have arthritis and half an hour of this game was excruciating. You move around the map by moving your mouse cursor, and the sensitivity is incredibly low. To move at all requires a lot of mouse movement and repositioning, even when you adjust the mouse sensitivity to maximum in the game settings. Additionally, moving objects around requires clicking and holding the mouse button. Sometimes you are carrying items across the map for a good distance, requiring you keep the mouse button pressed while traversing the map for minutes at a time. I like the concepts of the game, and think it could be an enjoyable and chill experience if the mouse sensitivity could be increased further, and if objects could be picked up and dropped with a single click rather than requiring the mouse button to be held down the entire time. Until then I can't play this game, let alone recommend it.
A short & sweet experience. While not exactly what I was expecting, it is very unique & fun.
Short, but great game. Boffee Press is a location ingame,
The UI hurts my eyes. You are not allowed to edit settings until you pass the tutorial. Alot of reading and sudden death situations. Not very fun.
UI hurts my eyes. Not for me.
Fun, interesting gameplay. If you like thinking about games as much if not more, than the play itself then try this. It's look is great, really evokes getting lost in your imagination, like a book rather than an illustration. It is not a procedural, roguelite or meta-game* This game could be good for speedrunning, testing your actual manual dexterity rather than button spam. That said, it is good to think about how you use your mouse when you play this game, some have complained about strain, but the game does not force that as there are no time constraints. Worried that I would find the graphics taking time to get into (ala DorfFort/Roguelikes with very basic tilesets). Instead it is what I hope'd it would be. Getting the hang of movement made me tear up at the beauty of the game design.
I was running around placing items, and got epifaniatical when I "got" the staff, and then was exhilarated upon immediately discovering the Moth pad with its great sound
The game is concise, getting it`s point across and then being over. quibbles:
I kind of wanted the the scroll texst to change after dealing with the Witch, and [strike]achivements stopped triggering before the end. (could it be due to draging out the gamplay ) [/strike] The achievements fixed themselves today, felt great zipping around the forest giving everyone Remedy. To bad one can't chore the Witch, so retriggering the win was not possible, also i really want to give her Medicine. It is "in conversation" with the game design traditions)
A short and wonderfully unique game with a unique presentation and control scheme^^ I thoroughly enjoyed the experience it offers, and would recommend it to anyone who's up for a change of pace.
I really enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't pick it up for $15, and just know that it's not an action game. There are some very interesting, moving concepts touched on, but not explored. The premise of the game, centered on rebirth and redemption, is very powerful to me, but may not be for others. Few hours of relaxation and thought-provoking dialogue. Probably not worth $15, but probably is worth your time.
