This game seemed good in the trailers, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. Even though I played for only 15 minutes, I experienced too many flaws and issues to keep playing. The most important thing in any platformer is the controls. and this game controls pretty badly. The player in this game is pretty fast, and it controls pretty fast in mid-air, but the game is full of little platforms which require a much more sensitive player controller to land on properly. This parameter could be easily adjusted in Unreal Engine 4 (the game's engine), and if the developer does not want to change it he could design the level to fit the player controller better. If it was made for the difficulty, then let's just say this is not the way to make difficulty in platformers. difficulty is usually implemented by challenging jumps that require skill and moves combinations, and not just by putting small platforms with a high player speed. All this leads me to the next point - the game is lacking in moves. at least at the begining of the game (first 3 levels), the player has only 2 moves - jump and wall jump. and let's just say, the wall jump isn't all that useful at the beginning and doesn't give the player much height at all. it is also limited to only 2 in a row, which makes it pretty useless except for in very specific situations. While the jump has some depth to it (hold to jump higher), it is really the only useful move at the beginning, and that is too little for a game to have at any point. it's simply not enough, even if you get more later. There's not even a double jump for some sort of variety. In addition to this, "combat" in this game is poorly implemented. by combat I mean pressing X to do an effect that seems to have an effect on the enemy but I'm really not sure. I must mention though that the art style of this game is awesome. overall, I wouldn't recommend you to play it unless you have literally nothing else to do in your life, or the dev will do a big update for the game and fix the issues. although he stated it is unlikely.
For casual players, Wish World is an interesting 3D platformer with many flaws. However, looking at it from a speedrunner's perspective, it has the potential to be among the top in its category. At its best, few games can come close to the fluid, fast-paced platforming Wish World can offer. At its worst, however, there are few games as frustrating as this one. 2 levels in particular (Flip Vale (expert) and World Heart) have immense difficulty spikes just before the finish, and one level (Mount Strong ((expert)) is just outright unfun. Wish World has temporary but no permanent checkpoints. Adding those would make the first two levels substantially more enjoyable, especially on a first playthrough. As for Mount Strong (expert), the gimmick (Wind constantly pushing the player to the left) is just annoying, and combining it with a long auto scroller section also doesn't help. Removing the wind would make this level less irritating, but a redesign with the focus on Wish World's main strength (fast fluid platforming) is needed to make it fun. In the following, I'll list some major and minor problems that need fixing. Bugs: - Ground pounding mushrooms can lead to them not bouncing you high enough or even not at all (can happen delayed) - No invincibility frames (you can get hit by multiple projectiles and instantly die at full health.) - Sometimes, you don't bounce on lava, killing you instantly - Having the ESC-menu open while dying soft locks you - Walking off platforms makes you unable to use abilities - Some levels don't let you move when loading in or dying until some time passes. (e.g. Dinos Peak) - Temporary checkpoints don't reset momentum, leading to a situation where you die almost instantaneously after respawning - Camera gets stuck on objects, impairing your vision - Camera doesn't reset when dying or switching areas, leading to impaired vision and/or movement issues - Can't differentiate between objects with hitboxes and ones without them (could fix by making hitbox-less objects translucent) - Wind in stages like Mount Strong can push players into objects (can cause soft locks) - PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS The minimum GPU required in the Steam description is a GTX 970. I believe that this is way more performance than Wish World should need. (For example, Trove, a voxel MMORPG, only needs Intel HD Graphics 3000, and Cube World, a voxel action RPG, a GTX 660 (shame that Cube World wasn't and probably never will be finished. Go check out Veloren if you're into that kind of experience.) I know that Unreal Engine is known to be resource hungry, but I still believe that there is a lot that can be done to improve the performance of Wish World Quality of life changes I'd recommend adding: - Auto-saving after every level - Separate audio sliders for sound effects and music - Turn down sound effects standard volume by a lot - Revise audio effects that are unpleasant to listen to - Making expert-level colors more pleasant to look at - Remove bouncing when collecting a heart key - Making "Spin things" less slippery - Option to disable screen shake - Option to exit levels - Option to restart the game without having to close and reopen it - Sending a "key missing" notification when near a door without the needed key - Reversing "Difficulty Update" (no abilities in expert levels), preventing fluid movement is directly crippling Wish World's main strength Purely personal interests: - second dash after wall jumping - expanding "Mark's lore" As you can undoubtedly tell, there are many problems that need fixing, but even in its current state, I had a blast playing, and if you're into fast fluid platforming, you will too!
Wish World is a pretty cool guy, he jumps over platforms and doesn't afraid of anything.
For a solo dev, the game is honestly pretty good. There's a few bugs here and there, but overall, the level design and movement mechanics are enjoyable. The difficulty scaling is relatively straightforward, however, I wish the later levels relied on movement tech more than just increasing the length of the level. Otherwise, a quick fun game to play if you enjoy platformers.
Wish World, her yeni seviyeye atlayıp atladığınız, her seviyede yeni bir şey tanıttığınız bir Üçüncü Şahıs Tek Oyunculu Platform oyunu olup sizi tetikte tutar.
Good 3D platformer game with the interesting game design ideas and level design. This game are challenging so before playing it get ready for the challenges.
