Wing IDE 5

PyCharm is much more customizable and it's free, so, no, I wouldn't recommend this IDE.

Beyond the outstanding features of the editor, this software is excellent on two fronts: 1) It integrated with Autodesk Maya perfectly, on the very first try, no issues what-so-ever. 2) The tech support is phenomenal. I mostly use the software to develop python helper scripts for Maya and Nuke, and while the interface is touch on the ugly side, the functionality of WingIDE is far better than any other option I have tried (Notepad++, Pycharm, and Sublime). I also use Eclipse for Python/C/C++ dev at work, and god how I wish it had the ease of use that WingIDE does. Eclipse has a lot of setup, where WingIDE just works. What put me over the top to fully recommend this software is the tech support. They are phenomenal. I had a problem with the software not finding a license after the most recent update on steam, I sent an email to thier tech support and got a response almost immediately. They solved my issue and they were a joy to deal with. This is the best cutomer support experience I have had from anyone ever. Pros: + Very powerful, fully featured python IDE. + Extremetly easy to setup and integrate with various 3D software packages. + Probably the best customer support on the planet. Cons: - The interface is need of a facelift (it's a little on the ugly side).

Easy to use, good debugging options and nice UI, direct Python Reference, good project managment. Everything that you can wish your python IDE has to have! :)

Wing IDE 5 is my most favorite coding software of all of them that I have used! Coding in Python has never been easier. There are so many tools such as indentation, debugging, autofill, and error report. You can also customize the theme and layout of your code to suit your comfort. Also, all of the things you had open before(if you have used Python before) are all in one window! Your code(multiple codes in tabs), your folder of codes and images, Python SHELL, debuggin window, error report, module display and more. I highly recommend that you buy this software ONLY if you are serious about developing games and software with Python. If not, stick to IDLE or whatever you have. Rating: 10/10

Advanced features such as first-rate debugger, code intelligence. Wingide's debugger is super powerful and allows to set breadpoints, step through code, unspect data, debug remotely, and debug django templates. It has support for matplotlib where the plots are updated automatically.

I highly recommend Wing IDE, just not this version. This is a very old version, version 8 is now out. I tried getting it working with Python 3.9, but could not. Wing IDE 5 did not detect Python and when I added it manually, it added the paths automatically, but gave a long error message when I tried to run a hello world program to check it was working properly. If there is a workaround or if this version just does not support 3.9 I do not know. Nearly all of my time using Wing IDE 5 was a few years ago with an older Python 3.x. If you go to the Wingware website, you can choose between three versions of Wing IDE 8, 101, personal and pro. 101 is for complete beginners, I've not tried this one. Personal is completely free and more than sufficient for most hobbyist use. This is the version I'm currently using and I strongly recommend it. I'm actually considering upgrading to pro non-commercial use the IDE is so good, at $95, as I've really started to get into programming over the last few months. So in summary, Wing IDE is fantastic, but get it from the Wingware website instead and don't pay for pro unless you're a very serious programming enthusiast or professional.

It's easy to use and runs right out of the box. The only setting I had to change is the theme.
