About
Windrose is a survival adventure set in an alternative Age of Piracy. It features the classic “build, craft, survive” formula along with intense combat and engaging exploration on land and sea.
Progress through vast procedurally generated biomes filled with hidden mysteries, hand-crafted dungeons and quests. Gather your crew and captain your ship through brutal naval combat with boarding actions and seamless transitions between ship and shore.
Defeat challenging bosses on your swashbuckling adventure driven by real-world characters and supernatural forces alike.
Every legend begins with a reckless crossing.
You are a captain who dares to challenge Blackbeard. What begins as a grounded story of survival and revenge draws you into a growing conflict between empires, pirate clans, and mysterious dark powers looming on the horizon. Windrose is steeped in the allure of the Age of Piracy.
Answer the call of the seas and move seamlessly between ship and shore. Naval combat is shaped by your decisions, whether you’re trading cannon fire at range or closing in for fierce boarding actions. Equip and customize your ship to suit your playstyle, from nimble ketch to versatile brig and monstrous frigate. And when the cannons go silent, claim your spoils and share a sea shanty with your crew as you sail onward.
Establish a foothold in vibrant, diverse biomes, gather resources, and build to your own taste, from simple shelters to elaborate mansions and fully developed forts. Recruit NPCs and grow your settlement to speed up harvesting and production.
This world belongs to the brave and the curious, so venture into the uncharted lands. Over 100 hand-crafted dungeons and points of interest contain endless secrets and treasures, though such rewards rarely come without risk. Trade with different factions to gain the edge you’ll need.
Hack, slash, batter, and shoot your way forward! Master a wide arsenal of melee weapons and firearms. Parry and dodge enemy attacks, chain different strikes, and keep an eye out for new gear, including sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols, muskets, and more.
Shape your combat style through talents and flexible loadouts with unique armor sets. Use food and potions to gain powerful buffs. Test your skills against a wide range of enemies and challenging bosses, defeat them, and claim their treasures.
Windrose is fully playable solo offline or in co-op with friends, supporting up to 8 players, with both self-hosted and dedicated servers available. Procedural generation will make each journey stand out. Please note: due to performance, especially in the late game, we recommend to play in the party up to 4 players for the optimal experience.

Reviews
very fun and lots to do
I bought this game because someone left a review that said "Valheim with a pirate skin". I had looking for a game for a while now that could scratch my Valheim itch, and this game went above and beyond expectations. It is Valheim but all of the quality of life you want without taking away the challenge and feel of a game of this genre. Examples: Once you get far enough in the game -- 1.) You can start ordering basic resources and materials for the silver shillings you earn in the game 2.) Once you find a weapon, you are instantly able to craft it back at base and instead of craft it at level 1 and upgrading it from there, you can craft weapons to the current level range you're at (ie: 1-5, 6-10, 11-15) using the resources within that level range, so you don't have to go back and farm lower level resources to upgrade new weapons. So if I find a level 1 weapon I like--I can destroy if for the resources, recraft it to the beginning level of my level range (if Im level 8, I can craft it to be level 6 and then upgrade from there). Saves a lot of time not having to go back to lower level areas just for resources. 3.) Your ships have storage slots, so if I find a new island and don't want to drop a fast travel, I can go farm, fill my inventory slots, transfer what can fit to my ship, and then go back to farming. 4.) With many more things like this that improve the overall experience of this kind of game. Not to mention the resource drops are very well balanced, to where you're not farming for hours because not enough drops from each tree or rock, but you're also not done farming in 5 minutes. I have never been a fan of pirate themed games, but this game made me fall in love with the theme. For being early access there is a LOT of content. I completed the Valheim with 124 hours, finished this one at 128 hours and spent way more time building in Valheim--not because the building is worse, actually its the complete opposite. The building in this game is Phenomenal. You can actually complete roofs on very large bases without needing 1000 support pillars in the base. It's not going to let you go crazy and just throw up whatever you want without any thought, but also isn't going to fail just because the building is too large. I've seen a couple of review where people played for a couple hours and then complained about the combat. I'm a dark souls fanatic and along with many other combat games and can honestly say the combat is pretty good. Yes, it can be improved in areas like: lock on when boarding a large ship and being close quarters with a lot of enemies----I was trying to think of more things about the combat that I didn't like, but nothing else really comes to mind. I could go on for days on why you should play this. I really love the game thus far and look forward to future updates. The fact that I was compelled to leave a review (because I never do) should give some confidence to give it a go. Things I would like to see improved listed below. WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILER ON THE LAST SENTENCE!!!!! A couple of things I would like improved: -Without spoiling, make late game enemies drop a little more than 1 of a certain resource--even just having them drop 2 would be enough. -Just like a lot of games in this genre, I get a lot of frame drops when I have too much fire/lighting in my base--and given how large we are able to build bases, you need a lot of lighting because the current lighting covers a very small area, so you have to build multiple sources. -I expect this will come as the game continues to develop, but more reputation levels and rewards for insignias--also the ability to sell insignias for in game currency would be nice, because I currently have enough for probably the next update already. -More side quests. -Perhaps some magic since alchemy is in the game👀
