About
Windrose is a survival adventure set in an alternative Age of Piracy. It features the classic “build, craft, survive” formula along with intense combat and engaging exploration on land and sea.
Progress through vast procedurally generated biomes filled with hidden mysteries, hand-crafted dungeons and quests. Gather your crew and captain your ship through brutal naval combat with boarding actions and seamless transitions between ship and shore.
Defeat challenging bosses on your swashbuckling adventure driven by real-world characters and supernatural forces alike.
Every legend begins with a reckless crossing.
You are a captain who dares to challenge Blackbeard. What begins as a grounded story of survival and revenge draws you into a growing conflict between empires, pirate clans, and mysterious dark powers looming on the horizon. Windrose is steeped in the allure of the Age of Piracy.
Answer the call of the seas and move seamlessly between ship and shore. Naval combat is shaped by your decisions, whether you’re trading cannon fire at range or closing in for fierce boarding actions. Equip and customize your ship to suit your playstyle, from nimble ketch to versatile brig and monstrous frigate. And when the cannons go silent, claim your spoils and share a sea shanty with your crew as you sail onward.
Establish a foothold in vibrant, diverse biomes, gather resources, and build to your own taste, from simple shelters to elaborate mansions and fully developed forts. Recruit NPCs and grow your settlement to speed up harvesting and production.
This world belongs to the brave and the curious, so venture into the uncharted lands. Over 100 hand-crafted dungeons and points of interest contain endless secrets and treasures, though such rewards rarely come without risk. Trade with different factions to gain the edge you’ll need.
Hack, slash, batter, and shoot your way forward! Master a wide arsenal of melee weapons and firearms. Parry and dodge enemy attacks, chain different strikes, and keep an eye out for new gear, including sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols, muskets, and more.
Shape your combat style through talents and flexible loadouts with unique armor sets. Use food and potions to gain powerful buffs. Test your skills against a wide range of enemies and challenging bosses, defeat them, and claim their treasures.
Windrose is fully playable solo offline or in co-op with friends, supporting up to 8 players, with both self-hosted and dedicated servers available. Procedural generation will make each journey stand out. Please note: due to performance, especially in the late game, we recommend to play in the party up to 4 players for the optimal experience.

This is what i wanted Skull and Bones to be! Its not perfect by any means and i am not 100% on the levelling system as you don't grow killing anything but more completing quests. I would have liked to get stronger first before i am forced into the main story. Still new to the game but so far so good :-) cant wait to see what the future updates hold
While the game is beautiful and it has some interesting systems, I cannot recommend this game due to it's combat system. Combat feels unbalanced and is just not fun for a new player. At level 1, you fight level 2 enemies and they are able to kill you in 2 - 3 hits. If you block an attack, most times you will be stunned and the enemy will immediately hit you. The real issue with combat comes when you are dealing with more than one enemy. It is not possible to agro just one enemy at a time, even if the other enemies are not near it. If one enemy is aggrod, all enemies in the area will come fight you at the same time. If you are dealing with 2 or 3 enemies and are mid melee attack on one, the others will hit you and you have no way to cancel mid animation or counter it as you are mid animation. Enemies are also faster than you while reloading, so when I shoot and attempt to retreat while reloading, the enemy will close the gap and hit me before the reload animation completes. I think a way to solve this is when reloading, instead of slowing a player character down, make the reload time longer than If a player were standing still. TLDR combat is clunky and is more frustrating than it is fun which is the opposite of what you want for a pirate game.

GOOD GAME
Excelente juego.
3/10 ANOTHER WORTHLESS PILE OF ♥♥♥♥ EA PIRATE GAME THAT WILL NEVER HIT 1.0 BECAUSE THE DEVS ARE ACTUALLY SCAMMERS. THE SHANITIES ARE COOL, THE SHIP COMBAT MAY AS WELL NOT EXIST, AND THE ON FOOT COMBAT IS SO JANKY I'M GOING TO GO REINSTALL AN OLD GAME INSTEAD OF PLAYING THIS PIECE.
Love the game for a lot of reasons, spent a good amount of time building some amazing bases with my mates and doing tons of exploration. But my file/entire game is literally locked in a permanent loading screen because I.. switched to a new PC? THAT should not be a problem for a game this far into development. Multiple patches have gone through since I started and not one is addressing this particularly frustrating issue. I want to salvage my file if possible. Until this gets patched I can only give a mid-level review of the game as I haven't had a chance to fully experience the current content. To summarize; cannot even load the game or find the start screen. Game just loads in a loading screen and stays that way and it's because of a known bug/issue with changing PCs while playing. Please help. 5/10 for me until then. Good sound design and gameplay loop has some bugs and unsatisfying features such as no class items to differentiate from other players. Storage amounts for items are completely arbitrary and have no rhyme or reason. I could go into detail about other issues while sailing or building but I feel like I would prefer to do that if/when my game is salvaged. I can't even PLAY it. It's just perpetual loading screen.
The game isn't bad, but... it urgently needs optimization. I run almost all other games with graphics set to near-maximum but, for Windrose, I had to lower the settings significantly and even then it doesn't go above 20 FPS. At this rate the first boss is impossible to beat.
