Truth be told, this game is almost certainly the best horror game I've played. Unlike most horror games WK doesn't sacrifice either its gameplay or its atmosphere to its goals. It's uniquely horrifying in a way that is absurdly fun. The physics can be a bit jank at times, but it's rare and when it's working it phenomenal Overall, 9/10 buy this game. It's worth its price tag.

Great game, i love it

Muito bom
One of the most mechanically sound games I've ever played. The barrier of entry is relatively low, but the high skill ceiling is where this game shines. At some point the game "clicks" and you enter a ridiculous flow state. White Knuckle demands your attention, and shines brightly when it has it. The facility itself is dreadful in the best way possible. The drab color pallet and feeling of desolation is only heightened by the game's horror elements. Whether that's knowing something is following you, or the gut-dropping sensation of clearing that sketchy jump, the game does a fantastic job at immersing you in the world it thrusts you into; The name White Knuckle isn't just for vanity. There will be moments where you feel the thrill and terror of climbing. Your heart will be in your stomach at some stages. It will break when you miss that one jump and have to start over. I beat The Nest while streaming to a friend, and it would be a massive understatement to say that it was tense. The feeling of relief that washed over me when I finally reached the end is hard to put into words. The range of emotions this game was able to elicit in me rekindled a simple appreciation for games that I thought I had lost long ago. If you want a challenging game with mechanics that put a smile on your face, and a lump in your throat, buy this game.
One of my most played games on Steam, and honestly one of my favorite games of all time. This game doesn't get nearly enough recognition for how amazing it is. First off, the game is a phenomenal roguelike. Many roguelikes/roguelites tend to get boring for me after a while. They tend to become to repetitive and the gameplay feels to "gamey." I've never experienced this sense of repetitiveness with White Knuckle for a moment. There are so many ways to traverse each room that it feels different every time you play it. The builds that you can come up with using perks and items are just random enough to force you to adapt and just controllable enough to allow you to strategize ands synergize. Not to mention that the main sense of progression in this game comes mainly from getting better at the climbing mechanics. Depending on how quickly you pick them up, this game in its current state (up to the nest area) could take anywhere from 40-60 hours, and there is still so much to come as the game progresses towards the full release. Even after almost 100 hours in this game, there is still so much room for me to improve. The skill ceiling feels almost infinitely high. Then there is the sense of style. White Knuckle has the best PSX inspired art style I've ever seen (in my opinion of course). It seems to take heavy inspiration from some of the PSX texturing greats like Silent Hill. It's far, far above your run-of-the-mill indie horror experience. Everything in the game is amazingly detailed and hand crafted. Lastly there's the phenomenal soundtrack that compliments the game's vibe and style perfectly. It's a completely unique industrial horror soundscape that warrants being listened to as a standalone album. I sincerely hope they release it on Spotify when the game is complete (it is currently on bandcamp in it's WIP state). Stop listening to me gush about it and just try this game! It is hard. It will take a long time to learn. But once it all starts to click I'm certain you'll become obsessed with mastering everything this game has to offer.
