Whimsical Quest is a retro action roguelite adventure with enough nostalgia to entertain the old-schoolers. Fight through randomized maps, collect over 50 items, unlock different characters, collect pets to fight with you and prepare to destroy the typical evil one that won't be revealed until you meet him. Classic.

Whimsical Quest, eski öğrencileri eğlendirmeye yetecek kadar nostaljiye sahip, retro aksiyon roguelite bir maceradır. Rastgele haritalarda savaşın, 50'den fazla öğeyi toplayın, farklı karakterlerin kilidini açın, sizinle savaşacak evcil hayvanları toplayın ve onunla tanışana kadar ortaya çıkmayacak olan tipik kötüyü yok etmeye hazırlanın. mini Klasik.
muito bom, me lembra titan souls
Disclaimer: I've been helping the developer by testing different builds of the game throughout development (and I know the developer quite well), but I'll try to avoid any bias in the review ! This is a pretty challenging (though far from impossible) game, with a great retro feel, awesome music and pretty good gameplay. The controls and gameplay might feel a little bit clumsy at the start of the game, but it doesn't take a long time until you get used to it, and after that it's great fun when you need to kill anything from ten minutes to an hour. The game is full of different powerups and has 5 quite different characters (expect to use a new playstyle for each character), some different enemies and bosses (wouldn't have minded more variation here, but there's enough to make the game enjoyable). So to boil it down to a pros and cons list: Pros: - Cool retro graphic - Great music - Good gameplay - Great variation of powerups - Fun characters Cons: - Could have had a few more different enemies - Powerups not entirely balanced (a runthrough might be quite a bit different in difficulty depending on powerups) All in all, the game is a good game (the cons are small cons in my eyes), and definitively worth the price (I would have bought it if I hadn't gotten a copy for free). Might be worth adding that this game is best if you play with a controller.

A hectic, retro styled rogue-lite game that plays like a bullet hell at times. Controls a a bit weird, but i definitely had fun playing it. Will keep you entertained for at least a couple hours.

So, I'll be blunt with this one. I've tried making a video off this and I'll admit, this is one of those games where taste may TRULY vary here, I get that it's a roguelike but to me, it's rather difficult to put into words what I like in this game. Aside from the jokes of the references the classes made. The controls feel awfully slippery, The starting class is FAR too scrawny to work as, let alone advance with. Do I feel terrible that the footage got thrown away? ..No, I don't cause really if I'm not making any progress whatsoever in my reviews then just watching me not making progress leave viewers why I spent 30 minutes constantly dying in a roguelike?
Wkręcający roguelike.
"Whimsical Quest" is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Vampire Survivors (Copyright Poncle, 2021). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. Putting aside the unethical intellectual, creative and moral bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. "Whimsical Quest" is considerably worse than Vampire Survivors. While everything in this game is basically a much worse version of Vampire Survivors, it is differentiated by there being a set goal to reach with a little bland sci-fi fan-fiction plot, but this is pointless when the technical delivery is some of the worst on Steam. Nobody on the platform ever said "I really liked Vampire Survivors, but I wish I could be playing a version that's much, much worse." This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $1 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Nope. I didn't have to pay for this, but I still feel like I got scammed.
