This is my second Jeffrey Dean VN, and I am enjoying it. I have one playthrough under my belt and it looks like there are plenty more as there are choices to be made from the word go, and as others have said, they count further on in the game. There is a follow up vn to this, by the same author, and also on Steam, so your ending becomes the start of the new one apparently, which gives even more to play through and explore. Werewolves are not an easy subject, not usually sympathetic enough to be the heroes of a novel, but the author manages to make his characters as likeable or unlikeable as any other character, bearing in mind that in this case the main villains of the piece are allegedly human. Once you settle on who you are and what your character is going to start out like, you can check your stats page to see how you are progressing and your strengths and weaknesses. Its not necessary to do this, but it can stop you making a wrong decision if you try to make a choice that will end in disaster because you do not have the necessary strength to make it successfully. I'm not particularly into the lore of these vns, but its not necessary for your enjoyment. The writing is good, and the character development consistent, and you soon pick up on the characteristics of the werewolves as you read. Generally you need to make several playthroughs to uncover the whole story, as some parts remain hidden depending on your choices, so there is plenty of room for replaying and taking a different path through the game. This vn is a complete story in itself, though it forms the first part of a longer tale, and it does not seem to leave any loose ends, well not that I have noticed with the ending I got, and I know I will get plenty of mileage out of this game, so if you prefer to use your imagination and do a spot of reading, I can recommend it as a good contrast to many other types of game that rely on speed of fingers and fast reflexes.
Fun story. It took me around 5 hours for one play-through. If you like werewolves, you'll probably like this!
Dena is hot nerd and so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cuteeeeeeeeee
This game was the first of this genre of game I ever played. At first I was put off by the lack of visuals and it felt like a novel that was altered slightly via my choices and looking at a normal screen full of words was overwhelming and hurt my eyes sometimes. That aside, it's a solid story with a few likable characters (if a bit basic) and lots of ways to customize your character and how they overcome the given challenges. There are even a few different endings and different romances to go for to make each playthrough unique which allows for more replay-ability to get every ending/achievement, ect. I have a soft spot for werewolves in general and I enjoyed immersing myself as a beast of the moon and dealing with the morality of slaughtering (or not) your oppressors. ALSO DENA BEST BOY. Very fun. 7/10
While not perfect, I found the story compelling and while there are some obvious areas of railroading, allowing the replaying of chapters from checkpoints was a great feature that more visual novels using this engine could learn from! It is quite short, but it's sweet and generally speaking the choices you make do feel like they matter. With earlier choices coming up later, often in some very fun ways - and they feel like they're effecting the events outcome. For the price, it's easily worth it.
A very decent story that held onto me through several playthroughs. A solid recommend.
Great story and it leaves you wanting to learn more. I love the werewolf lore in this game. The characters are really well written and the romances are done really well in this game. 10/10 and would recommend buying it at any price
