About
Welcome to Desal
You were just passing through.
A quiet road. A small café. A quick stop for food.
Then your card gets declined.
Now you owe them.
Welcome to Desal is a short psychological horror experience where an ordinary job slowly turns into something deeply unsettling. Forced to work off your debt, you take on simple café tasks-serving customers, cleaning, and following orders-but something about this place isn’t right.
Strange conversations echo through the walls at night. Employees act like they’re hiding something. Customers don’t always behave… normally.
And no matter what you do, leaving doesn’t seem to be an option.
Key Features:
- Immersive Job Simulation
Perform everyday café tasks that gradually become tense and uncomfortable.
- Psychological Horror
No cheap jumpscares-just slow-building dread, subtle storytelling, and a constant feeling that something is wrong.
- Dynamic Storytelling
Overhear conversations, notice details, and piece together the truth behind Desal.
- Player Choice & Dialogue
Decide what to say-and what to hide-as others begin to suspect what you know.
What’s Really Going On?
The longer you stay, the more questions you’ll have:
Why doesn’t anyone talk about what happens at night?
Who was behind the wall?
Why won’t your car start?
And why does it feel like you were never meant to leave?
Sometimes, the scariest thing isn’t being trapped somewhere.
It’s realizing you might already belong there.

It’s a really good game; I enjoyed playing it. The atmosphere is fantastic—I recommend it to everyone.
A good game for one evening: you can get scared and have a good laugh too. It may not be made perfectly, but, damn, it was made by just one person, and I think that's absolutely amazing for a solo developer. The atmosphere in this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane. While playing, it even feels somewhat similar to Fears to Fathom. So I'm giving this game a 7/10 - it's definitely worth checking out.
A very impressive game. The atmosphere keeps you on edge throughout the entire playthrough, and there are plenty of interesting references as well. I especially enjoyed the mechanic of using the microphone to complete quests. The game is definitely worth the money!
Welcome to Desal First, thank you to the developer, MINLY, for the free copy. The Good:

Sound design does a lot of heavy lifting, food cooking, footsteps, water running, all of it lands well
NPCs bring an unintentional charm, like they clearly shouldn't be where they are but somehow are anyway
The setup itself is decent, a roadside café stop in the near future where your card gets declined and suddenly you're working off a debt you didn't sign up for
There's even a moment where you get 8 whole seconds of pure release on the boss's couch
The Bad:

You have to click Play at the main menu, then click again to actually start, for no reason I could find
Every setting shows "Custom" with no indication of what it's actually set to unless you click through and start adjusting values
A diner table asset isn't placed high enough, so the legs and supports poke straight through the tabletop
Dialogue is riddled with misspellings, gets cut off mid-sentence, or is just flat-out wrong, leaving you confused, or accidentally amused, sometimes both at once
Order-taking is broken in a way that actively hurts the core loop. I had a customer ask for a cheeseburger and cola, got flagged wrong when I delivered exactly that, then had it accepted once I swapped to a plain burger and cola instead. Then it flipped the other direction, someone asking for a cheeseburger who actually wanted a regular burger. That's brutal given how slow your walk speed is, remaking an order three separate times because the game can't keep its own naming straight is exhausting
You can only carry one item at a time with no way to set anything down, so grabbing a drink or food item before your tray's ready just means you have to throw it away and re-do the order again
Conclusion: This one missed the mark for me, but I don't think it's a lost cause for the studio going forward. Given the chance to patch things up or apply these lessons to something new, MINLY clearly has some solid instincts buried under the bugs. I'm still glad I got to check it out, and I'll keep an eye out for whatever they put out next. —The Ember Archives https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45601239/
