https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3282318099
Void Prison is quite literally the single worst game I've payed for in the last decade. I payed $0.63 USD (after tax) for this game, and even then I feel cheated out of my money. The only reason I've played it more than half an hour is because I care about my achievement percentages. If I can ever convince anyone of anything through a Steam Review, please let it be this: Don't buy this terrible game. This entire game is one big loop of boredom and frustration. You have a tiny play area that constantly shrinks, and killing enemies makes it slightly bigger. One song plays constantly and there are no map variations. You touch the edge for a split second, and BOOM , instant game over. Your only two abilities are to roll/dodge and to shoot. All of this sounds fine on paper. In the game though? Well, the developer had the brilliant idea to make it so that when you fire your weapon, it pushes you backwards. Okay, that makes it harder when enemies are spawning randomly in the center of the screen, but that's not the end of the world. Then comes the real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ parts. If you get hit, four things happen. You get pushed backwards (obviously), you screen zooms in a bit, time slows down for a second, and both your ability to shoot and dodge are paused for the duration. This means that if you get hit and you're going to die, you get to sit and watch in slow motion as you cannot do anything to prevent it. Also, because you get pushed back by enemy projectiles, you can get pushed into other enemy projectiles which creates a chain of hits you cannot dodge. That kills you in 99% of scenarios. Oh, and also the screen zooming in makes it harder to prevent any follow up hits because it makes it harder to see around you. OK, so just don't get hit dummy. Easier said than done. Enemies spawn in random locations, your hitbox is slightly larger than your model, and rolling is a danger to you as well because you can push yourself out of the map meaning you die. Heck, some enemies spawn outside of the map and can shoot from outside of the map, meaning you cannot even see the projectile for half of it's travel time. Also, remember how shooting your gun pushed you backwards? Well, you also slide around in this game. If you move in any direction, via any method, when you try to stop you skid an extra meter or two before stopping. This means that if you see that you're about to run into a projectile, you cannot stop yourself before you get hit by it. Maybe you roll through it, but then you're stuck being hit by the 15 other projectiles on the other half of the screen that you just rolled into. Well, can you upgrade your weapon, or maybe unlock extra lives? Nope, this game has ONE method of progression, through Steam Achievements. You can unlock purely cosmetic skins and power ups by doing Steam achievements. Power ups spawn in while you play, but they are temporary (roughly less than 10 seconds each) and enemies randomly spawn with blue outlines which means they drop one when they die. Yup, the only gameplay progression is tied to grinding achievements and is RNG dependent. You cannot upgrade your gun, your roll, nothing. Oh, and did I mention that all of this is within the same 6 minutes of gameplay? That's right, of the top 10 people on the global leaderboard, only 6 FREAKING PEOPLE have had a run last over 6 minutes long. #1 as of writing this lasted 8 minutes and 24 seconds. (Rounded up on the milliseconds BTW.) 15% of players have lasted more than 3 minutes. Meaning that if YOU die, which is incredibly easy to have happen, you get to repeat the same ~3 minutes of gameplay. The same enemy types, spawning in the same order (but in random locations), all in the same map. There is no variety, there are no variations. It is just a painfully unfair and unfun 1-5 minute loop. Plus, it crashes. All this terrible game design, and even when you are doing well you can lose everything because the game just ♥♥♥♥♥ its pants and dies. I cannot understate this, it crashes on top of everything else. It doesn't even run properly. This game feels like it was made to steal quarters from children back in the days of physical arcade centers. Give a quarter, die in 2-5 minutes, then give another quarter. Repetitive music, boring art, tortuously unfun gameplay, it really does have that awful arcade game feel. Don't give this developer your money, not for this. Buy anything else on Steam, or heck buy yourself some food from McDonalds, and it'll be more enjoyable. I promise you.
3/10 30% skill / 70% luck. You just basically waiting to get lucky.
Void Prison is yet another of literally hundreds of lazy amateur 2D retro top-down shooter/brawlers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. In terms of gameplay this one "works", it's neither too janky or too floaty, but that's all that it has going for it. It's a very simple wave survival/bullet hell type shooter in a small arena, designed for handheld gaming devices (Nintendo Switch). The primary interest is the various upgrades and pickups that seem a little influenced by games like Vampire Survivor. Other than that you're just moving around a small arena and shooting endless waves of boring pixel blobs with what looks like a really lazy CGA 4 colour palette. This didn't look great in 1981 and it doesn't look great now. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 7 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Void Prison is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
My Void Prison Review - 34 Hours In
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) After 34 hours in Void Prison, I’ve had a mix of fun and frustration with this bullet hell game. While it has some standout features, there are areas that need improvement. Here’s my take:

Gameplay - Fast-Paced but Flawed
The gameplay offers a typical bullet hell experience with frantic action and intricate patterns to dodge. The controls are responsive, which is crucial for this genre. However, I found some levels to be overly punishing, which can lead to frustration rather than fun. It would benefit from a more balanced difficulty curve to keep the challenge enjoyable.

Visuals - Unique Art Style
The visuals are striking, with a unique art style that captures the chaotic essence of a bullet hell game. The vibrant colors and creative enemy designs add to the atmosphere. However, the visual clutter during intense moments can sometimes make it difficult to track my character, which can be detrimental to gameplay.

Content - Room for Improvement
While there are several levels to tackle, I found the overall content somewhat lacking. Additional modes or variations in gameplay could help sustain interest over the long term. More diversity in enemy types and patterns would also enhance the experience.

Final Thoughts - A Mixed Bag
After 34 hours, Void Prison presents a solid bullet hell experience with some notable strengths but also significant shortcomings. If you enjoy the genre and can handle a bit of frustration, it might still be worth a shot. Recommended for die-hard bullet hell fans, but others may want to consider trying before committing!

If you found this review helpful or enjoyable, please give it a like or an award! Thanks for reading, and enjoy your time in Void Prison!
Voto: 8/10
W takie gierki się grało na informatyce :3
If you just get the game to spend some times spamming bullets then ok but if you are looking at this game to achievement hunt, dont make the same mistake as me, do NOT get this game. The achievements are ridiculus and devs probable trolling us.
