Unique fighting game concept! Can't wait to see it in EVO
Wonderful puzzle combat game where you match up groups of blocks and send them at your opponents. I've had a lot of fun playing it in two-player but it's fun in single player as well with its endless mode.
Played an early version at Ohayocon 2018; was fun then and it fun now. Scratches the puzzle-fighter itch, but it needs more single player options. A story mode and a vs. CPU mode (outside of the Endless Mode) would make this a solid timewaster.
This is one of my favorite games, period. This game had it's official 1.0 release this year and is one of the most unique concepts I've seen. It's a puzzle fighter, but has more elements of fighting games than most puzzle fighters. Concept is really simple: Put similar colored blocks into groups of 3 or more to send them as projectiles to the opponent. If they get hit, their board shrinks. Repeat until one player loses. Sounds simple right? Now add in 10 unique characters, each with their own passives and supers, a "hype"meter which acts kind of like an X-factor, and a parry mechanic and you have a deep and interesting game. Now you may be thinking "If you love it so much, why is your playtime so low?" Good question. Truth is all of my friends play it, and we've even started a tournament scene for it (Cinci Wavecrash on youtube, though I admit I'm lazy about uploads). Most of the time I play, it's not on my own laptop, and I only use my own copy to lab in the endless mode. This does however bring up the few negatives about this game: There is no online mode, and the single player options are pretty limited. As fun as this game is, if you're not playing against other human beings, this won't have long lasting appeal to you. I have heard that it works over parsec, but I admit I haven't tried this myself. Still, I strongly suggest that you try it out since it costs less than a Happy Meal, and try to get your friends to play it for a really good time.
I played this on stream on its release day. Did I like it, you ask? To answer that question: I normally stream 19:00 to 23:00, and if I'm not having fun I'm not shy about cutting stream short. I didn't stop playing and streaming until the person I was playing with had to go at midnight.
WaveCrash is a competitive puzzle game with some fighting-game features like characters with unique attributes and special moves. Gameplay is really hectic and fast-paced and the puzzle system is very simple to learn. The game is visually great and has a nice roster of fighters who all feel unique. Lots of fun for local multiplayer!
It's a simple game to learn with lots of room for improvement and skill expression. The game is a unique take on fighting games requiring you to focus on both your side of the board and the opponents. Each character provides a unique twist on the game play that will alter how you approach each match.
Very fun puzzle game. I enjoy the graphics. Definitely a great value for only $10
Great puzzle game! Love the mash of fighting and puzzles!
Played this at multiple conventions over the years and it's a great couch versus game. Looking forward to playing this again with friends in this post covid world.
