Watch Over Christmas is a charming holiday-themed point-and-click adventure developed and published by Dionous Games that captures the warmth, imagination, and nostalgia of classic Christmas tales. The game places players in the role of Cisco, a twelve-year-old boy whose peaceful Christmas Eve takes an unexpected turn after discovering that Santa Claus has vanished. What begins as an ordinary holiday quickly transforms into an enchanting quest filled with magical creatures, whimsical locations, and mysterious challenges. The narrative embraces the wonder of childhood while presenting an uplifting story centered on bravery, kindness, and the enduring spirit of Christmas. Its lighthearted tone and family-friendly presentation make it an inviting adventure for players of all ages. The game's storytelling is one of its strongest qualities, steadily expanding from a simple rescue mission into an imaginative journey through beautifully crafted fantasy settings. Cisco develops into a relatable protagonist whose determination and curiosity drive the adventure forward, while the supporting cast adds personality and humor to every stage of the journey. Dialogue remains engaging without becoming overly complicated, balancing comedic moments with emotional scenes that reinforce the importance of friendship, hope, and self-belief. Although the overall story follows a linear structure, it remains consistently entertaining thanks to its memorable characters and magical atmosphere, making players eager to discover what awaits around every corner. Gameplay follows the traditions of classic point-and-click adventures while incorporating modern design choices that improve accessibility. Exploration, inventory management, environmental interaction, and puzzle-solving form the core of the experience, with each challenge encouraging logical thinking rather than frustrating guesswork. The puzzles gradually increase in complexity, rewarding careful observation and experimentation without becoming unnecessarily difficult. A variety of mini-games helps keep the pacing fresh, preventing the gameplay from feeling repetitive while introducing different ways to interact with the world. The intuitive interface and smooth progression make the game approachable for newcomers while still offering satisfying moments for experienced adventure fans. Artistically, Watch Over Christmas delivers a delightful visual experience through its vibrant hand-drawn environments and expressive character animations. Every location is filled with colorful details that evoke the magic of the holiday season, from cozy interiors decorated for Christmas to imaginative fantasy landscapes that feel straight out of a storybook. The visual style successfully creates a sense of wonder that complements the game's narrative, while subtle animations bring life to each scene without distracting from exploration. The polished presentation demonstrates a clear commitment to craftsmanship, giving every environment its own distinct personality and charm. The audio design further strengthens the game's immersive atmosphere. Fully voiced characters make conversations more engaging, allowing each personality to stand out naturally throughout the adventure. The soundtrack complements the festive setting with warm orchestral compositions that shift appropriately between relaxing exploration and more dramatic story moments. Ambient sound effects enrich each location, creating an inviting world that feels alive and magical. Together, the music and voice acting contribute significantly to the emotional impact of Cisco's adventure, enhancing both its heartfelt moments and its sense of holiday excitement. While the game excels in atmosphere and storytelling, it is not without limitations. Players seeking highly complex puzzles or multiple narrative paths may find the experience somewhat straightforward. Replay value is also limited once the mystery has been solved, as the story unfolds along a fixed path. Nevertheless, these minor shortcomings do little to diminish the overall quality of the adventure because the game succeeds in delivering exactly what it promises: an enjoyable, heartfelt Christmas story supported by polished gameplay, appealing visuals, and memorable characters. Watch Over Christmas stands as an excellent example of how traditional point-and-click adventures can remain engaging when supported by thoughtful design and genuine storytelling. Rather than relying on flashy mechanics or action-heavy sequences, it focuses on creating an emotional and magical journey that celebrates the joy and wonder of the holiday season. Its combination of accessible puzzles, imaginative world-building, attractive hand-drawn artwork, and uplifting narrative makes it a rewarding experience for families, adventure enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a cozy game that embraces the timeless spirit of Christmas. Rating: 8/10
A Christmas story with great puzzles and nice artwork. A solid point 'n' click game. You should play this, not only in Christmas!
A beautiful and enjoyable point and click adventure!Adorable characters,nice puzzles,beautiful backgrounds!A happy gaming Christmas experience!Congratulations to developers!
И Watch Over Christmas просто жемчужина. Я купила и прошла игру, когда она только вышла, и собираюсь перепроходить в этом году: заряжусь праздничным настроением и дособеру ачивки.
Avventura classica punta e clicca senza infamia e senza lode. Un po' lenta nell'inizio. Migliora dopo poco. Grafica carina. Interessanti le locazioni e le mitologie a sfondo natalizio. Ovviamente da giocare rigorosamente a natale.
Its good, if you want to be really good: 1. Left Click interact, right click watch, no more is needed! Pull down Menu feels like Amiga, no use for this anymore. 2. I can live with the animations, but the background coloring is way too one dimensional, use real paintings, or something that looks like it. 3. In the background is not enough movement and light, you should set more spots to highlight. There are colored lamps in the background, why not let them blink or shine? And yeah the background is kinda steril not much movement from anything. Set per screen at least one or two highlights in the background. 4. Set Skip button for logical puzzles after a while. Puzzles were okay i guess, i like a good flow like in broken sword, was kinda there. UPDATE: So i finished it, hey at Jack Frost and later, the backgrounds got some lightning and movement. I think the Santa Krampus Village stuff was too long and not straight enough, but it was okay. The Puzzles need a visible Start Point, some were cool, some sucked. The Maze at Krampus wasnt cool, it was easy at the end, but my Problem was, i didnt started good, so i have to solve the puzzle how it starts.
There's a huge pile of great things in this game. The graphics are wonderful, animations are great, voices are clear and crisp, puzzles are fine, if a little bit on the easy side, interface is truly excellent and there are enough things to keep you hooked on playing. With the help of these things, I can give it a valid recommendation. Then comes the time for few critics. This should be a Christmas story. While it certainly takes place in a Christmas time, and there's some decorations visible, it just doesn't give me the right vibes. First problem is that there's no snow anywhere! Few lonely flakes swinging down from the sky and landing on the plain ground isn't nearly enough. The Story line is fine for the first part, but the second one begins in some random forest with some occult / witch stuff going on that drained any last bit of Christmas feeling down the sink that there was left. And even if you manage to keep your mood in the Christmas channel after these things, the music comes and makes devastatingly sure that every last bit of Christmas mood is gone completely. There's no jingle bells, no tambourines, nothing that would set the mood right. TL,DR: Is it a great point & click game? Yes. Is it a great Christmas story? Well... not necessarily. I loved it for the point & click part, but didn't find the theme and setting appropriate.
In questa avventura grafica a tema natalizio, impersonate un ragazzino di nome Cisco, che prima di andare a dormire sente una comunicazione alla radio che chiede aiuto per salvare il natale. Il vostro compito sarà di raccogliere i vari oggetti e superare i logici enigmi per lo più fatti di combinazioni tra oggetti, ma anche qualche enigma da settimana enigmistica. Per riuscire a salvare babbo natale dalle grinfie del cattivone di turno. Durante la vostra avventura verrete chiamati anche a trovare i regali sparsi per le varie schermate, ce' ne sono 36 e molti di essi sono fortemente missabili, specie il regalo nella capanna di franco, che si mimetizza benissimo con lo sfondo. ^^; Il gioco è piuttosto longevo direi sulle 5/6 ore, ne ho perse 14 per colpa di un pacco regalo nascosto in bella vista nel secondo capitolo. ^^; Fortuna che salvavo a ogni inizio capitolo. I pregi sono il tema natalizio(in questo periodo), la grafica e la musica oltre ai sottotitoli in italiano. I difetti sono: La battaglia finale che va molto a fortuna, un vero peccato, il tema natalizio che non si sposa certo con l'estate o la primavera, e l'enigma principale del secondo capitolo che si allunga un pò artificialmente. Parlo della ninfea che non viene raccolta sul posto, noia. ^^; Se vi piacciono le avventure grafiche a tema, questa fa per voi, ovviamente la storia è un pò infantile ma è giusto così, visto il protagonista e il periodo. Peccato che gli sviluppatori non hanno avuto il coraggio di far usare la sorella maggiore tra il 4 e il quinto capitolo, ma poteva essere un'idea con un mezzo dlc. Se non vi interessano le avventure grafiche allora potete pure passare oltre. P.s: La forza di questo titolo sta nel periodo natalizio, fuori da esso, perde molto appeal. ^^;
Overall, Watch Over Christmas is a delightful point-and-click adventure. I just wish it were more polished. The game has several contextual errors and some translation oddness. And the protagonist's voice is grating.
