This game deserves more players! It's a wonderful Christmas-related P'n'C with great design, music and voice acting. The puzzles are well balanced. There's not too much moon logic going on and yet it's still not too easy. Took me some good 11 hours to finish on stream :)
Great game. Good mechanics, superb atmosphere, voicing, dialogs, and drawings. Don't get fooled by the apparent Childish XMAS + Elfs + Teddybear theme...this is a very compelling and long adventure games with tons of puzzles, riddles, and inventory puzzles from all levels. I heavily needed a guide to go through 2/3 of the game because it is a very hard one sometimes and you need persistence. The game duration is above the average for this kind of point and clicks. A must play if you like this genre. P.S: was stuck Chapter 3 for more than 1 hour for the "Clockwork document" line of dialogs not willing to display, i do not know if this is a bug or not...btw...maybe this one bit was dispensable.
Status: 100% Completed A modern classic that deserved far more recognition than it got. Presentation The game is very pleasant to look at, with beautifully drawn art across the board, from characters to backgrounds. The style is fully digital and dark, but it never feels cheap or rushed. The visuals stay consistent throughout, and while the animations are simple, they’re well executed. Music / Sound The music is enjoyable and does a great job creating a Christmas mood. Every line is fully voiced, and there are plenty of extra lines added just because, little touches that really help the world feel alive. The voice actors did a great job overall, and I can’t think of a single miscast. That said, some audio levels felt uneven at times - certain lines sound slightly louder than others. Also, some players might not like the main character’s voice at first, but I personally got used to it. Story You play as 12-year-old Cisco, trying to stop Santa from being kidnapped, meaning you’re basically saving Christmas. Cisco comes from a solid middle-class family: loving parents and a bratty older sister for occasional conflict, but when it matters, they genuinely support each other. I liked the witty dialogue and the number of dialogue choices throughout the game. Gameplay This is classic point-and-click adventure gameplay with a few mini-games mixed in. You can also talk to an assistant named Kosmos from time to time (and some missable achievement actually requires it). Some puzzles are genuinely tricky, Cisco even jokes about the player checking a walkthrough, and honestly, you probably will. The developers have patched and improved some puzzles that players struggled with, but the rock-paper-scissors mini-game is still here, and it’s pure trial and error. There’s no strategy, just press buttons, replay, and hope it works out next time. It’s also a very long game (it took me more than 12 hours to finish). Technical I only encountered one bug during my playthrough, and it happened while replaying the rock-paper-scissors mini-game. Sasha Darko for Game Obscura
Pros -Nice cozy art-style -Great voice acting and audio quality is fantastic. Lots of games have good voice acting but its so hard to hear at times you have to turn on subtitles. With this game the voice acting is crystal clear throughout. -Built-in hot-spot reveal -Built-in help system -Built-in to-do list -Auto-save and generous manual save slots -Great controls, entirely playable with mouse, including saving, exiting the game, using the hot-spot reveal tool etc. - Sweet festive story -Solid point and click puzzle design. With mostly inventory based puzzles and a handful of mini-games which were all fairly enjoyable. No real head-scratchers that I can recall. Game flows along nicely. -Collectibles if that's your thing Cons -None If you point and click adventure games then its certainly one of the most polished that I've ever played. Highly recommended.
Fun game, semi-complex puzzles, long gameplay- awesome!
I found this game to be pretty frustrating even for a point and click problem solver. A lot of things had to be done in a very particular order and were many levels deep. Many actions were not very intuitive. The main character had the most annoying voice I've heard in a video game, really grated. I did finish it and did have some laughs but I wouldn't play a sequel, that's for sure!
