Too much DLC ad Imagine seeing a friend playing this game and telling to yourself that this is the gameplay you want. Imagine now that when you enter a city, you see a tavern, click on it and the first interaction you have is "TO VIEW THIS CONTENT, BUY THE DLC". Well okay Sniper Elite but it will be only one time thing it's all right... right ? Imagine now that you go down and the map, see a beautiful shore and a boat and you click on it and you wonder with marvel in the eyes : What will it be ???? "TO SEE THIS CONTENT BUY ANOTHER DLC". OK, it's only two things in a 5 hour playthrough, this game should not have so much DLC right.. Riiight ? I mean everybody in the forum trash people complaining about too much DLC because there's five hundred of hour of content right there. Imagine now that 10 hour in, you kill some infected rat, and your troop may contract nasty disease and you say "okay, I will try to go in the fog to find a merchant or a city idk". You are helpless, wondering if your guy will survive and you see a big citadel in ruin. You'r thinking to yourself, is this a trap ? is this bandit ? theses people are gentle ? TOO ACCESS THIS CONTENT YOU NEED DLC Seriously guys, the game is awesome but in 10 hour stumbling into 3 advertisment like this juste make me feel that the game is unfinished. To conclude i'm understand the need of the studio to make DLC, I just think that it's not the right way to do.
I really tried to like this game but the difficulty scaling of this game is very silly that it automatically adjusts to your group size making it having a big group pointless. Good overall mechanics though
The core WarTales game is very enjoyable, engaging, and immersive. So, buy the core game especially on sale--seriously. Having said that, the DLCs fail to re-invent the same level of charm and actually magnify minor issues into major ones. One of the biggest issues for me was, for example playing the Pirates DLC after completing the core game and being absolutely disenchanted with the level matching. You complete the game only to be re-involved with petty disputes, completing quests, grabbing gear and information often on toddler difficulty. It makes it seem like you graduated school but you're still hanging around as though you haven't. They would have been better off making the DLC progression more linear and level locked with an obvious continuing story and progression. If they wanted to re-use the core maps, transform them into clans, fiefdoms, or kingdoms you can manage with diplomacy, economy, perks, etc. But going back and having to fight level 1 content absolutely breaks the immersion for me. The existing world, after completion of the core game, needs to be transformed to higher level content or have the DLC avoid that world altogether. Core game (YES!) DLCs (Sadly NO!)
The base game is very good, a lot of expenses DlCs ruined this game
The base game is very good. I liked the combat system and the party interactions. Story was more mid though. But in relation to the price (30 GBP by now) and the astoundingly expensive dlc I have to give it a thumbs down. I accept regular dlc at the range of under 10 Euro/GBP/Dollar. But not double of that. I, like many others, do not like to support those greedy merchants (Ea/ Blizzard/Bethesda/Paradox) and spend my money elsewhere.
At its core great game but unfortunatly with many bugs and quirks. And instead of fixing them, you get another DLC every other month, bringing in even more bugs. Can't recommend in the current state
Great singleplayer, coop is broken and is unplayable. Community has noted that coop hasn't been working or has been funky for months. Some players may have a smooth experience launching coop, but others and in my experience have not been able to play coop and are stuck in an infinite loading screen loop.
its a great game the devs just never finished making it
