Warrior Kings

I'm a fan of this series but there are mistakes here! First of all I don't understand why this older version supports 1920x1080 but Warrior Kings of Battles doesn't? This game looks better graphically. In contrast to its successor "Battles", this game unfortunately runs with a lot of bugs. Sometimes enemy units are invisible or your units don't move and suddenly appear somewhere else. That's why the campaign isn't easy to play and unfortunately it's the only way to play. There is no skirmish or multiplayer. If you want to play this game with all its facets, you should get “Warrior Kings Battles” on Steam

Edit; should mention I preferred the GoG edition over steam as they put in that little extra effort to make the game play smoothly on modern machines and the warrior king community patches work flawlessly with it. This review is both Warrior Kings & Warrior Kings Battles; Warrior Kings was a game released decades before it's time, and by this, I mean the entire concept and gameplay. No other RTS to this day possesses all the qualities this game brings to the table in a single setting without cutting back. There is no hand-holding technology tree for you pursue, instead, everything is based on your own type of playstyle with how this area functions. In Warrior Kings itself, the game is focused on a campaign where again, everything is decided on choice with no hand-holding. You set the course for the young hero, and frankly, the story is where this game truly shines in my opinion. There is no real moral choices as each hold their own merit, both good and evil which makes for excellent settings. There is numerous endings, and even on battles themselves, some choices will shape your campaign without you even realising leading to surprising new elements. Now, there is a community that exists for this masterful game and they hold patches to correct issues in the base game, including offering more playstyles and more. You can find this easily enough with a simple google search. The patch for this game updates and corrects some of the more tedious bugs in the game. For couple negative reviews; you can complete the campaign with easy mission but you must make saves. I use Windows 10 and play fine, then again, I played this when the game was released. Remember to save often in these older games, people, it'll prevent a lot headache, trust me! For Warrior Kings Battles, as the name suggests, this one is focused more on playing the field than a campaign - don't worry! campaign exists but it's more free style than centred on a storyline, bit like total war but simple? You choose area to engage which grants bonuses if you win and fight it out on the map. This game excels in one area, and something to this day I absolutely adore; the AI is outstanding. Each have a personality type that'll focus on differing styles and difficulty. No other RTS plays the AI like this, which is a damn shame. The AI will become predictable(aside from one character) as each possess their own flavour as mentioned. Aside from that? Be prepared.

05.08.23 GAME BUGS AND GLITCH! FAN PATCH NOT WORK!!! NEEED PATCH AND FIX GLITCH!!!! Не советую покупать в стиме игру. есть проблема с современными ПК игра не корректно работает. Если юниту отдать приказ он становится невидимым и появится только если остановится. это не всегда проявляется иногда так начинает баговать игра. Но с пятого уровня это становится постоянным явлением играть попросту не возможно. Патчь в мастерской не вылечил проблему. если на екзешном ярлыке поставить совместимость с XP то проблема несколько облегчается но застрянете не на пятом уровне а на шестом. сложно играть в стратегию где вы не наблюдаете передвижения юнитов. Саму игру крайне рекомендую игра приятная. сюжет не поражал графика тоже и игровые механники тоже стандартные но тут играет именно микс этих механник из разных игр. так что если не играли то попробовать стоит. если вы можете установить на виртуальную машину на которую установлен win XP или у вас старый компьютер на Win XP. в противном случае поиграть не получится.

A game ages old that had such innovative ideas and campaign that puts even modern day RTS and games to shame. Shame that there are no more games like this. A very good RTS with an incredible charm and vibe to it
