WarpVector

WarpVector uses a turn-based momentum simulation that is reminiscent of a "racing game" I used to play as a child or teenager on grid paper where you draw a random circuit track and then try to race another player taking turns without crashing into a wall. This game is like an amped up sci-fi (more specifically Star Trek like) version of that. Turn-based physics *sounds* like it'd not work well, but actually it works great and adds an interesting element of strategy and forethought. You do have to take the time to get used to it and learn to use the movement effectively, but that's just as true in any real-time physics game and the advantage of turn-based physics is there is no reflex element, just the strategic thought, which is a rare experience and well worth it. The available items and regions are interesting and tastefully and substantively varied and there are multiple approaches to how to build out your ship effectively that are suitable to different play styles. On the negative side, a few random events occurred too often and the game would benefit from having a higher variety of random events in some contexts. It could also benefit from having more music tracks, though there are at least a few. I beat it within ~4 hours after several attempts. I recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of turn based games and/or sci-fi and/or unusual game mechanics, provided that you are able to get along with the ASCII text based nature of the graphics (as I and many other roguelike fans usually are). This game deserves more reviews and attention than it got (currently just 16), like many such graphically weak but mechanically strong games. The dev did a good job, so thanks for this fun and innovative game!
