WARM MONKEY is an animal fable that tells a story of urban exploration, the search for water, and the importance of cooperation.
You are a monkey in the heart of a garden city. Every ten seconds, a new companion appears by your side. As your group grows, guide your fellow monkeys on a journey to reach the sea, located to the south of the city.
- On your journey, vigilance is essential. Your monkeys may succumb to dehydration, fall from buildings or trees, or be struck by a scooter on the city’s roads. If the lead monkey dies, the nearest companion will take its place (if any remain). The game ends if all your monkeys perish before reaching the sea.

- Keep an eye on your life bar, as it reflects your level of dehydration. If a monkey turns red, it's a warning that you need to quickly locate a water source to rehydrate him. The city is dotted with small puddles and, occasionally, larger pools—so stay vigilant! Multiplying your group improves your chances of survival but also increases your water requirements. Rehydrating a group of ten monkeys requires larger water sources, which become progressively harder to find.

- You move freely through a labyrinthine open world, where you can climb trees and buildings, jump from one to another, travel from puddles to pools, and from the ground to rooftops. There’s no predefined path—only your intuition and experience matter. But beware of falls and passing vehicles on the road. If you fall from a tree or building, some of your companions may follow the same path...

- The members of your group follow you, but not exactly. The artificial intelligence intentionally adds an organic element to their behavior. They may fall from the buildings and trees you climb, rush in a group of twenty to the small puddle of water you've just discovered, or wander too close to the road. As the guide, it’s up to you to anticipate these unpredictable actions and protect your group.

- At any time, multiple players can join the game, turning it into a cooperative experience. If players stray too far from one another, the screen stays centered on the group. Therefore, you must communicate to progress more efficiently, balancing exploration with discipline while saving each other in tough moments. While you may go faster alone, together you can go farther! In WARM MONKEY's multiplayer mode, communication and coordination are crucial for success.

- The scoring system, reminiscent of traditional arcade games, rewards the player or team's performance in multiple ways. In WARM MONKEY, points are earned based on exploration duration, the number of monkeys in your group, altitude, acrobatic feats, but also monumental buildings you discover as you explore! These buildings are easily recognizable by their unique appearance, and as you get closer to them, they reward you with valuable bonus points. You can choose to either focus on completing the game by reaching the beach, or you can explore the map and its remarkable elements to score the highest points. At the end of each game, you're invited to enter your score on the leaderboard to see how your performance compares to others.

Artsy but it is basically an endless arcade game. The collision detection is very annoying. If the game costed like idk 5USD it'd be a fair price for something you can play with friends sometimes on couch but man... this is basically a cash grab.
i like this game the monkeys are funny and the colors and music are cool thank you warm monkey developer
The first thing that grabs you about Warm Monkey is its incredible pixel art. The developer hasn't gone for the clean, predictable 16-bit look; instead, they deliver a highly compressed, almost EGA/early-PC vibe with a bold, contrasting color palette that is utterly distinct. It is difficult to find the right words to describe the gameplay, as it is an artistic mix of survival-exploration with arcade elements. It manages to create a constant sense of tension as your monkey followership grows and water resources get scarce. Not to mention the streets and traffic that you have to cross. The game counts a score the longer you manage to stay alive, which constantly encourages you to start another run. You can play alone or in local multiplayer, but be aware, it won't make it any easier. It actually forces the players to communicate off-screen and make decisions quickly together to increase the likelihood of survival. The ambient drums and instrumentals are atmospheric and soothing while you're near water, providing a beautiful contrast to the white-noise-filled tension of the city and the noise from the traffic on the streets. The only downside is the price tag, which is quite steep if you want to buy it at full price... It is, however, an addictive game that is easy to pick up for a quick run. It offers plenty of achievements and a lot of frustrating fun.
Monkey
Warm Monkey is a short and simple game with a highly artistic throwback to how early generations approached photorrealism. The controls are simple, and so is the objective: keep your monkeys hydrated and help them reach the south seashore. The longer you can wander around searching for puddles to keep your monkeys alive, the more time you will have to safely spawn extra monkeys and eventually cross dangerous roads with failsafes. If you like experimental games, this sure is a good call. If you're looking for getting as much content as possible for your money, however, you might want to wait for a sale.
EDIT: I MADE IT TO THE SEA! YAY! I'm ready for Elden Ring now! I was NOT expecting the art to be this good. Warm Monkey was on my wishlist through a pre-release recommendation. I don't even remember where it was featured in but I remember that the core gameplay idea was the reason why I kept it in my radar. To my surprise the graphics took the spotlight. As you can see the game has some cool isometric pixel art reminiscent of our old PC games and an old school color palette. It was good enough to keep me engaged until I started a run to another surprise, Palácio do Planalto by Oscar Niemeyer. You see, at the start of every run the game showcases a monument that has a large body of water and pans the camera to you. I thought it was a cool building until I realized that I recognized the design from real life (I ain't beating the architecture nerd allegations). Turns out the monuments in the game are the actual monumental buildings in Brasil. Visiting the monuments in game was a refreshing experience and a great idea that I'd like to see more. Aaaand returning back to the subject of game itself. We're a monkey trying to reach the ocean under the scorching sun. We keep multiplying our monke squad as we constantly look for water puddles to chill everyone down with funni monke noises (the sound design is enjoyable too). The game is divided into sections by busy roads where every monkey perished by one hit. Think of it as a hardcore Frogger. If we die the closest monke buddy comes to our position and we continue our journey until everyone perishes. The gameplay was as good as I was expecting and provides a solid challenge. The roads and walls gets harder to overcome and we slowly learn how to navigate the terrain. I haven't made it to the ocean yet but judging from the achievement rate things should get a lot harder near the end. It's fun to learn though, as if you're playing a souls game. And it should be a lot more fun when you're playing coop with your monke friends. Here's my critique and feedback at the early stage of launch as the game is getting fixes right now: EDIT: Removed some issues as they turned out to be my skill issues. You can safely cross pretty much everywhere after getting used to the game. -It's hard to orient myself in the 3D space when jumping around and climbing trees that are partially obstructed by buildings. -Monke ai does too many mistake and half of my squad perishes if I fail a jump, as if watching a Super Meat Boy replay. -The core gameplay is solid. I know the map is handcrafted but there could also be a randomly generated map for randomized runs. Huge replay potential there.
