About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

I've been a huge X-Com fan, and I am constantly playing it since it was released. I have made several runs, with mod packs and the base game. With that in mind, I WANT to like Warhounds badly. I want another game that gets the XCOM vibe. While I believe they had major wins here, this game commits MAJOR unforgivable flaws. On the good side: -Nice combat system, maybe even more balanced than XCOM itself. -Good base management and gameplay loop. On the HORRIBLE side: - The most cringe, millenial writting I ever saw. To the point I stopped the gameplay and checked if the writers had anything to do with Sweet Baby Inc or any other consulting companies. Marvel-style disgusting quirky jokes break the immersion completely. Example : imagine your experienced mercenary with military background is assigned on the fly to take a ship, and his first response is "Oh ♥♥♥♥, I forgot to bring my "How to Hijack a ship" manual". Seriously? Who writes this kind of crap? It is like writers can't put into other people's shoes. All characters have the sarcastic, self-deprecating California humor that throws you off completely. I am not saying soldiers don't make jokes. But when your Intelligence Specialist and Main Assistant talks like a valley-girl... it cringes you out of any enjoyment. - No steam workshop. XCOM's main point was customization. While you have a few customization enable, not having a steam workshop support feels like a sin on this type of game. As much as I would love to recommend this game for what he wants to be, I can't see him improving from what he is. Mechanics are on point and simple. But the writing sucks so bad that I don't see this becoming a better game, without a ground-up overhaul.

I paid 10 Euros for it, so I don't regret the purchase, but the game is really... boring. When I play it, I just wish I were playing another turn based tacitcal game like Jagged Alliance, X-COM or even Phoenix Point. And the 'realistic' ballistics is just marketing, it's not grounded in reality. Let's see if I pick it up again, but overall I would not recommend buying this one but rater play one of the classics instead.
Dont like it purely cause of the level designs of the buildings it is so difficult to get an overview of the multi story buldings, angels, movement in them its horrible. I have played plenty of x-com like games, but this is just frustrating how its handled in this game.
アプデ待った方が良さそう。 ゲームそのものは面白いけどクラッシュしまくりで遊べない。 日本語対応してゲームがクラッシュしなければ最高のゲームになりそう。
Crashes on load most of the time, and when it has loaded characters get stuck or locked after several missions.
This is XCOM 2 but with African soldiers instead of Aliens. There is only RNG and there is no stealth option. I could care less about using AI but this game is just lazy. The "Warhounds" are locked in classes and get 1 gun option for each class. What really makes the game unplayable is the enemy sniper that never misses. Don't believe what the store page description says.
game has been buggy as hell over the only 3 hours ive been able to play. have had a mission show up scrambled showing random russian letters that crashed my game. have had soldiers get hit by attacks and then not be able to move or be targeted for help.
A boring, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of XCom 2. Which is itself a boring ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
